The minimal SUSY SO(10) GUT models with {\bf 10}, {\bf 126} and {\bf 210} Higgs and only renormalizable couplings has been shown to provide a simple way to understand the neutrino mixings as well as the ratio $Δm^2_\odot/Δm^2_A$ in terms of quark mixing parameter $θ_{Cabibbo}$, provided neutrino masses are described by type II seesaw formula. However, in this minimal picture, it is impossible to realize type II dominance with renormalizable couplings in 4-dimensions. We show that this problem can be cured by embedding this model into a warped 5-dimensional space time with warping between the Planck and the GUT scale, where both type II as well as mixed seesaw formulae can be realized in a natural manner without expanding the Higgs sector. These models also avoid the possible problem of threshold effects associated with large Higgs representations since the theory above the GUT scale is now strongly coupled.
We show how the seesaw mechanism for neutrino masses can be realized within a five dimensional (5D) warped geometry framework. Intermediate scale standard model (SM) singlet neutrino masses, needed to explain the atmospheric and solar neutrino oscillations, are shown to be proportional to M_Pl\exp((2c-1)πkR), where c denotes the coefficient of the 5D Dirac mass term for the singlet neutrino which also has a Planck scale Majorana mass localized on the Planck-brane, and kR~11 in order to resolve the gauge hierarchy problem. The case with a bulk 5D Majorana mass term for the singlet neutrino is b…
The seesaw mechanism provides a simple explanation for the lightness of the known neutrinos. Under the standard assumption of a weak scale Dirac mass and a heavy sterile Majorana scale the neutrino mass is naturally suppressed below the weak scale. However, Nature may employ Dirac and Majorana scales that are much less than typically assumed, possibly even far below the weak scale. In this case the seesaw mechanism alone would not completely explain the lightness of the neutrinos. In this work we consider a warped framework that realizes this possibility by combining naturally suppressed Dirac…
We propose the inverse seesaw mechanism as a way to understand small Majorana masses for neutrinos in warped extra dimension models with seesaw scale in the TeV range. The ultra-small lepton number violation needed in implementing inverse seesaw mechanism in 4D models is explained in this model as a consequence of lepton number breaking occurring on the Planck brane. We construct realistic models based on this idea that fit observed neutrino oscillation data for both normal and inverted mass patterns. We compute the corrections to light neutrino masses from the Kaluza-Klein modes and show that…
Warped extra dimensions can address both the Planck-weak and flavor hierarchies of the Standard Model (SM). In this paper we discuss the SM neutrino mass generation in a scenario in which a SM singlet bulk fermion - coupled to the Higgs and the lepton doublet near the IR brane - is given a Majorana mass of order the Planck scale on the UV brane. Despite the resemblance to a type I seesaw mechanism, a careful investigation based on the mass basis for the singlet 4D modes reveals a very different picture. Namely, the SM neutrino masses are generated dominantly by the exchange of the TeV-scale ma…
In this thesis, we have studied the possibility to identify one of the right-handed neutrinos entering the type-I seesaw mechanism as a Dark Matter (DM) candidate, within the warped extra-dimensions paradigm. As a first step, we have reviewed the existing literature on the Randall-Sundrum scenarios and the Goldberger-Wise stabilization mechanism. We have discussed a feasible realization of the type-I seesaw mechanism, implemented by warped compactification of an extra dimension. Taking advantage of recent studies, we have explored how the thermal DM can be included in the warped scenario. We h…
Recently, it was shown in arXiv:1512.06742 that a straightforward implementation of the type I seesaw mechanism in a warped extra dimensional framework is in reality a {\em natural} realization of "inverse" seesaw, i.e., the Standard Model (SM) neutrino mass is dominantly generated by exchange of pseudo-Dirac {\em TeV}-mass SM singlet neutrinos. By the AdS/CFT correspondence, this scenario is {\em dual} to these singlet particles being composites of some new strong dynamics, along with the SM Higgs boson, with the rest of the SM particles being mostly elementary. We study signals from producti…
A natural seesaw mechanism for obtaining the observed size of SM neutrino masses can arise in a warped extra dimensional/composite Higgs framework. In a previous paper, we initiated the study of signals at the LHC for the associated $\sim$ TeV mass SM singlet neutrinos, within a canonical model of $SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R \times U(1)_{ B - L }$ (LR) symmetry in the composite sector, as motivated by consistency with the EW precision tests. Here, we investigate LHC signals in a different region of parameter space for the same model, where production of singlet neutrinos can occur from particles b…
A five-dimensional seesaw framework is analyzed with the lepton-number-violating propagator of bulk right-handed neutrinos. That can bypass summing up the effects of heavy Majorana particles whose masses and wavefunctions are not exactly known. The propagator method makes it easier to evaluate the seesaw-induced neutrino mass for various boundary conditions of bulk neutrinos and in a general background geometry, including the warped extra dimension. It is also found that the higher-dimensional seesaw gives a natural framework for the inverse seesaw suppression of low-energy neutrino masses.
$SO(11)$ gauge-Higgs grand unification is formulated in the six-dimensional hybrid warped space in which the fifth and sixth dimensions play as the electroweak and grand-unification dimensions. Fermions are introduced in ${\bf 32}$, ${\bf 11}$ and ${\bf 1}$ of $SO(11)$. Small neutrino masses naturally emerge as a result of a new seesaw mechanism in the gauge-Higgs unification which is characterized by a $3 \times 3$ mass matrix.
We propose a realistic theory of fermion masses and mixings using a five-dimensional warped scenario where all fermions propagate in the bulk and the Higgs field is localized on the IR brane. The assumed $T'$ flavor symmetry is broken on the branes by flavon fields, providing a consistent scenario where fermion mass hierarchies arise from adequate choices of the bulk mass parameters, while quark and lepton mixing angles are restricted by the family symmetry. Neutrino mass splittings, mixing parameters and the Dirac CP phase all arise from the type-I seesaw mechanism and are tightly correlated,…
The seesaw-induced neutrino mass is discussed in a generic class of curved spacetime, including the flat and warped extra dimensions. For Majorana masses in the bulk and on the boundary, the exact forms of seesaw-induced masses are derived by using the Kaluza-Klein mode expansion and the lepton number violating correlator for bulk fermion. It is found that the neutrino mass is determined without the knowledge of wave functions and whole background geometry when the metric factor is fixed on the boundary, e.g. by solving the hierarchy problem.
We develop an extension of the basic inverse seesaw model which addresses simultaneously two of its drawbacks, namely, the lack of explanation of the tiny Majorana mass term $μ$ for the TeV-scale singlet fermions and the difficulty in achieving successful leptogenesis. Firstly, we investigate systematically leptogenesis within the inverse (and the related linear) seesaw models and show that a successful scenario requires either small Yukawa couplings, implying loss of experimental signals, and/or quasi-degeneracy among singlets mass of different generations, suggesting extra structure must be …
We study the implications of the global $U(1)_R$ symmetry present in minimal lepton flavor violating implementations of the seesaw mechanism for neutrino masses. Our discussion is done in the context of explicit minimal type-I seesaw scenarios, where depending on the R-charge assignment different models can be constructed. We study the charged lepton flavor violating phenomenology of a concrete realization paying special attention to $μ\to eγ$ and $μ\to 3e$.
In the minimal seesaw model, we derive required constraints on Dirac neutrino masses inducing maximal CP violation in neutrino oscillations. If the maximal atmospheric neutrino mixing is further assumed, Dirac neutrino masses are uniquely determined to respect $μ$-$τ$ flavored CP symmetry for neutrinos.
We present a minimal inverse seesaw mechanism by resorting to a $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge symmetry. In order to cancel the gauge anomalies, we introduce seven neutral fermions among which four participate in the inverse seesaw to induce two nonzero neutrino mass eigenvalues, two forms a stable Dirac fermion to become a dark matter, while the last one keeps massless but decouples early. In this inverse seesaw, two neutral fermions are the usual right-handed neutrinos while the other two have a small Majorana mass term. An additional seesaw mechanism for generating these small Majorana masses also expl…
The seesaw mechanism to derive the light masses of left-handed neutrinos using heavy masses of right-handed neutrinos gives rise to a connection between low-energy measurables and GUT-scale mechanism. We expresses the neutrino mixing angles in terms of a single variable $\sinθ_{13}$, whose size was measured recently. The lepton asymmetry from heavy neutrinos via Yukawa coupling is described by CP phases in both Dirac and Majorana type. It is shown that the seesaw scale relevant to the lepton asymmetry can be constrained by CP phase in this minimal model.
In the framework of the seesaw mechanism, and adopting a typical form for the Dirac neutrino mass matrix, we discuss the impact of minimal forms of the Majorana neutrino mass matrix. These matrices contain four or three texture zeros and only two parameters, a scale factor and a hierarchy parameter. Some forms are not compatible with large lepton mixing and are ruled out. Moreover, a normal mass hierarchy for neutrinos is predicted.
Given its briefness and predictability, the minimal seesaw -- a simplified version of the canonical seesaw mechanism with only two right-handed neutrino fields -- has been studied in depth and from many perspectives, and now it is being pushed close to a position of directly facing experimental tests. This article is intended to provide an up-to-date review of various phenomenological aspects of the minimal seesaw and its associated leptogenesis mechanism in neutrino physics and cosmology. Our focus is on possible flavor structures of such benchmark seesaw and leptogenesis scenarios and confro…
Neutrino flavor mixing is explained within the recently proposed low-scale minimal linear seesaw model of neutrino mass generation, a variant of the standard linear seesaw led by a Dirac pair of extra sterile neutrinos which is odd under a discrete $Z_2$ symmetry and has a mass at or below the GeV scale. The tri-bimaximal mixing and its deviations are derived straightforwardly on the basis of the symmetry between $μ$ and $τ$ flavors, without introducing non-abelian discrete flavor symmetries in the first place.
In the supersymmetric triplet (type-II) seesaw model, in which a single SU(2)_L-triplet couples to leptons, the high-energy neutrino flavour structure can be directly determined from the low-energy neutrino data. We show that even with such a minimal triplet content, leptogenesis can be naturally accommodated thanks to the resonant interference between superpotential and soft supersymmetry breaking terms.
We discuss the minimal seesaw model for the Dirac CP violating phase of the lepton mixing matrix. We introduce two right-handed Majorana neutrinos and obtain several textures of the tri-maximal lepton mixing matrices. Moreover, we discuss the observed baryon asymmetry of the universe through the leptogenesis mechanism. As the result, we obtain the specific model which predicts the negative sign of maximal Dirac CP violating phase and normal hierarchy of neutrino masses.
In the framework of seesaw models with only two heavy Majorana neutrinos, nonzero leptonic asymmetries can be radiatively generated when exact heavy neutrino mass degeneracy ($M_1=M_2=M$) is imposed at a scale $Λ_D > M$. For a specific case, we show that an acceptable value for the baryon asymmetry of the Universe can be obtained considering thermal leptogenesis.
Motivated by the recent observations on sterile neutrinos, we present a minimal extension of the canonical type-I seesaw by adding one extra singlet fermion. After the decoupling of right-handed neutrinos, an eV-scale mass eigenstate is obtained without the need of artificially inserting tiny mass scales or Yukawa couplings for sterile neutrinos. In particular, the active-sterile mixing is predicted to be of the order of 0.1. Moreover, we show a concrete flavor A_4 model, in which the required structures of the minimal extended seesaw are realized. We also comment on the feasibility of accommo…
Motivated by the short-baseline neutrino oscillation anomalies that suggest the existence of sterile neutrinos at the eV scale, we construct a scenario of a seesaw mechanism for 3+1 light neutrinos implemented by warped compactification of an extra dimension. As the seesaw mechanism necessitates at least two right-handed neutrinos at mass scales much larger than eV, incorporating an eV-scale sterile neutrino into a seesaw entails large mass hierarchies among the singlet neutrinos. We show that such hierarchies can be naturally explained by moderate fluctuations of the five-dimensional fermion …
A minimal version of the inverse seesaw model featuring only two pairs of TeV-scale singlet neutrinos is discussed from the perspective of non-standard neutrino interactions. A particular attention is paid to the non-standard patterns of flavour and CP violation emerging due to the possibly enhanced non-decoupling effects of the heavy sector and the associated non-unitarity of the effective lepton mixing matrix.
We propose a minimal type II seesaw model by introducing only one right-handed neutrino besides the $SU(2)_{L}$ triplet Higgs to the standard model. In the usual type II seesaw models with several right-handed neutrinos, the contributions of the right-handed neutrinos and the triplet Higgs to the CP asymmetry, which stems from the decay of the lightest right-handed neutrino, are proportional to their respective contributions to the light neutrino mass matrix. However, in our minimal type II seesaw model, this CP asymmetry is just given by the one-loop vertex correction involving the triplet Hi…
We discuss a neutrino mass model based on the S_4 flavor symmetry within the minimal seesaw framework, in which only two right-handed neutrinos are introduced and transform as 2 under S_4. Although the model contains less free parameters compared to the typical seesaw models, it provides a successful description of the observed neutrino parameters, and in particular, a nearly tri-bimaximal mixing pattern can be naturally accommodated. In addition, the heavy right-handed neutrino masses are found to be non-degenerate, while only the normal hierarchical mass spectrum is compatible with experimen…
This work proposes a neutrino mass model that is derived using the minimal seesaw mechanism which contains only two right-handed neutrinos, under the non-abelian discrete flavor symmetry $\mathbb{S}_4\otimes\mathbb{Z}_2$. Two standard model doublets, $L_μ$ and $L_τ$, are assigned simultaneously to a $\mathbf{2}$ representation of $\mathbb{S}_4$. When the scalar fields introduced in this model, addition to the Standard Model Higgs, and the leptons are coupled within the symmetry, the seesaw mechanism results in the tri-bi-maximal neutrino mixing. This study examined the possible deviations from…
We study a minimal one-loop radiative mechanism for generating small Majorana neutrino masses in inverse seesaw extensions of the Standard Model with two singlet fermions per family. The new feature of this radiative mechanism is that the one-loop induced left-handed neutrino mass matrix is directly proportional to the Majorana mass matrix of the right-handed neutrinos. This is a very economical scenario without necessitating the existence of non-standard scalar or gauge fields.
We point out that the minimal seesaw model can provide a natural framework to accommodate tiny neutrino masses, while its experimental testability and notable predictiveness are still maintained. This possibility is based on the observation that two heavy right-handed Majorana neutrinos in the minimal seesaw model may naturally emerge as a pseudo-Dirac fermion. In a specific scenario, we show that the tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing can be produced, and only the inverted neutrino mass hierarchy is allowed. The low-energy phenomena, including non-unitarity effects in neutrino oscillations, neutri…
The Minimal Flavor Violation hypothesis (MFV) is extended to the R-parity violating MSSM, supplemented with a simple seesaw mechanism. The requirement of MFV is shown to suppress lepton and baryon-number violating couplings sufficiently to pass all experimental bounds, in particular those for proton decay, and is thus a viable alternative to R-parity. The phenomenological consequences for FCNC, LFV and colliders are briefly discussed. Typically, MFV predicts sizeable baryon-number violation in some characteristic channels, like single stop resonant production.
We have studied a leptogenesis scenario in the framework of the minimal seesaw model with tri/bi-maximal mixing. Usually, at least one of the elements in the Dirac mass matrix is fixed to be zero, for example, we denote it by $b_2=0$. We have pointed out that the absolute value of the CP asymmetry has several minimums and maximums with non-zero $b_2$. Thus one can expect that more rich phenomena, such as an enhanced leptogenesis, are hidden in the $b_2 \neq 0$ space.
Renewed interest in GeV-scale sterile neutrinos capable of explaining active neutrino oscillations via see-saw type I mechanism has been expressed in several proposals of direct searches. Given this activity we estimate the minimal values of sterile-active mixing angles provided one, two, or three sterile neutrinos are lighter than D-meson.
We study the possibility that the baryon asymmetry of the universe is generated in a minimal seesaw scenario where two right-handed Majorana neutrinos with degenerate masses are added to the standard model particle content. In the usual framework of thermal leptogenesis, a nonzero $CP$ asymmetry can be obtained through the mass splitting induced by the running of the heavy Majorana neutrino masses from their degeneracy scale down to the seesaw scale. Although, in the light of the present neutrino oscillation data, the produced baryon asymmetry turns out to be smaller than the experimental valu…
In an attempt to find minimal scenarios we study the implications of Dirac and Majorana mass matrices with texture zeros within the type I seesaw mechanism. For the Dirac mass matrices we consider 5 zero textures which we show to be the most minimal form that can successfully account for low energy phenomenology if the Majorana mass matrices are chosen minimal as well. For those, we consider both diagonal and even more minimal non-diagonal forms. The latter can be motivated e.g. by simple U(1) flavour symmetries and have two degenerate eigenvalues. We classify the allowed textures and discuss …
We explore realizations of minimal flavour violation (MFV) for the lepton sector. We find that it can be realized within those seesaw models where a separation of the lepton number and lepton flavour violating scales can be achieved, such as type II and inverse seesaw models. We present in particular a simple implementation of the MFV hypothesis which differs in nature from those previously discussed. It allows to reconstruct the flavour structure of the model from the values of the light neutrino masses and mixing parameters, even in the presence of CP-violating phases. Experimentally reachab…
We analyse a flavour model for a lepton sector which is based on type I seesaw mechanism, a Z_2 symmetry for lepton flavours, a mu-tau interchange symmetry and a CP symmetry. This model fits well the data of neutrino mass squared differences and oscillation angles. The model predicts an overall neutrino mass scale for normal and inverted neutrino mass hierarchy and the effective mass m_beta, which is used in the neutrinoless double beta decay.
In this paper, we attempt to implement the neutrino $μ$-$τ$ reflection symmetry (which predicts $θ^{}_{23} = π/4$ and $δ= \pm π/2$ as well as trivial Majorana phases) in the minimal seesaw (which enables us to fix the neutrino masses). For some direct (the preliminary experimental hints towards $θ^{}_{23} \neq π/4$ and $δ\neq - π/2$) and indirect (inclusion of the renormalization group equation effect and implementation of the leptogenesis mechanism) reasons, we particularly study the breakings of this symmetry and their phenomenological consequences.
There exists a generic minimal tree-level diagram, with two external scalars and a heavy intermediate fermion, that can generate naturally small neutrino masses via a seesaw. This diagram has a mass insertion on the internal fermion line, and the set of such diagrams can be partitioned according to whether the mass insertion is of the Majorana or Dirac type. We show that, once subjected to the demands of naturalness (i.e. precluding small scalar vacuum expectation values that require fine-tuning), this set is finite, and contains a relatively small number of elements. Some of the corresponding…
The simplest possibility to generate small Majorana neutrino masses is the seesaw mechanism. However, the smallness of the observed neutrino masses can also be understood, if neutrino masses are generated by higher-dimensional operators and/or at higher loop level. In this talk recent work on systematic classifications of higher-dimensional and radiative neutrino mass models is summarized. Two particular classes of special genuine loop diagrams, i.e. diagrams which can lead to genuine neutrino mass models only under some specific, well-defined conditions, are also discussed.
In the presence of non-minimal gravitational coupling $ ξH^\dagger H {\cal R}$ between the standard model (SM) Higgs doublet $H$ and the curvature scalar ${\cal R}$, the effective ultraviolet cutoff scale is given by $Λ_{\rm cut}\approx m_P/ξ$, where $m_P$ is the reduced Planck mass, and $ξ\gtrsim 1$ is a dimensionless coupling constant. In type I and type III seesaw extended SM, which can naturally explain the observed solar and atmospheric neutrino oscillations, we investigate the implications of this non-minimal gravitational coupling for the SM Higgs boson mass bounds based on vacuum stabi…
\noindent We revisit the \textit{minimal seesaw model}, i.e., the type-I seesaw mechanism involving only two right-handed neutrinos. % This model represents an important minimal benchmark scenario for future experimental updates on neutrino oscillations. % It features four real parameters that cannot be fixed by the current data: two $CP$-violating phases, $δ$ and $σ$, as well as one complex parameter, $z$, that is experimentally inaccessible at low energies. % The parameter $z$ controls the structure of the neutrino Yukawa matrix at high energies, which is why it may be regarded as a label or…
We examine minimal seesaw mechanism in which the masses of light neutrinos are described with tri/bi-maximal mixing in the basis where the charged-lepton Yukawa matrix and heavy Majorana neutrino mass matrix are diagonal. We search for all possible Dirac mass textures which contain at least one zero entry in $3 \times 2$ matrix and evaluate the corresponding lepton asymmetries. We present the baryon asymmetry in terms of a single low energy unknown, a Majorana CP phase to be clued from neutrinoless double beta decay.
We calculate the relic density of the lightest neutralino in a supersymmetric seesaw type-II (``triplet seesaw'') model with minimal supergravity boundary conditions at the GUT scale. The presence of a triplet below the GUT scale, required to explain measured neutrino data in this setup, leads to a characteristic deformation of the sparticle spectrum with respect to the pure mSugra expectations, affecting the calculated relic dark matter (DM) density. We discuss how the DM allowed regions in the (m_0,M_{1/2}) plane change as a function of the (type-II) seesaw scale. We also compare the constra…
We propose a new flavor paradigm for models with warped extra dimensions. The idea is to impose the minimal amount of flavor protection to make warped models compatible with all current flavor and electroweak precision constraints. We discuss a particular realization of this minimal flavor protection in the quark sector, by means of a flavor symmetry acting on the right handed down sector. Hierarchical quark masses and mixing angles are naturally reproduced through wave function localization, and flavor violating processes are predicted, in the absence of large brane kinetic terms for the righ…
The Type II seesaw model requires that its scalar doublet $H$ and triplet $Δ$ get specific patterns of VEVs $\langle H\rangle\propto(0,1)^{T}$ and $\langleΔ\rangle\propto(0,0,1)^{T}$ to accommodate neutrino masses. However, other types of minima could also exist in the scalar potential, which may strongly contradict to experimental observations. This paper studies when the minimum at $\langle H\rangle\propto(0,1)^{T}$ and $\langleΔ\rangle\propto(0,0,1)^{T}$ will be global and finds the necessary and sufficient condition for that, assuming that the lepton number violating term $H^{2}Δ$ in the p…
The recently proposed "mini-seesaw mechanism" combines naturally suppressed Dirac and Majorana masses to achieve light Standard Model neutrinos via a low-scale seesaw. A key feature of this approach is the presence of multiple light (order GeV) sterile-neutrinos that mix with the Standard Model. In this work we study the bounds on these light sterile-neutrinos from processes like μ---> e + γ, invisible Z-decays, and neutrinoless double beta-decay. We show that viable parameter space exists and that, interestingly, key observables can lie just below current experimental sensitivities. In partic…
The minimal 3-3-1 model is perturbative until energies around 4-5TeV, posing a challenge to generate neutrino masses at eV scale, mainly if one aims to take advantage of the seesaw mechanism. As a means to circumvent this problem we propose a modification of the model such that it accommodates the type I and type II seesaw mechanisms altogether. We show that the conjunction of both mechanisms yield a neutrino mass expression suppressed by a high power of the cutoff scale, $M^5$, in its denominator. With such a suppression term we naturally obtain neutrino masses at eV scale when $M$ is around …
The Friedberg-Lee (FL) symmetry is generated by a transformation of a fermionic field $q$ to $q + ξz$. This symmetry puts very restrictive constraints on allowed terms in a Lagrangian. Applying this symmetry to $N$ fermionic fields, we find that the number of independent fields is reduced to $N-1$ if the fields have gauge interaction or the transformation is a local one. Using this property, we find that a seesaw model originally with three generations of left- and right-handed neutrinos, with the left-handed neutrinos unaffected but the right-handed neutrinos transformed under the local FL tr…
We propose a simplified version of the inverse seesaw model, in which only two pairs of the gauge-singlet neutrinos are introduced, to interpret the observed neutrino mass hierarchy and lepton flavor mixing at or below the TeV scale. This minimal inverse seesaw scenario (MISS) is technically natural and experimentally testable. In particular, we show that the effective parameters describing the non-unitary neutrino mixing matrix are strongly correlated in the MISS, and thus, their upper bounds can be constrained by current experimental data in a more restrictive way. The Jarlskog invariants of…
We analyze a minimal bottom-up seesaw scenario where we require the theory to satisfy three phenomenological conditions: (i)it is supersymmetric; (ii) it has a local B-L symmetry as part of the SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R x U(1)_{B-L} gauge theory to implement the seesaw mechanism and (iii) B-L symmetry breaking is such that it leaves R-parity unbroken giving a naturally stable dark matter. We show that in such a theory, one can predict the seesaw scale for neutrino masses to be M_R ~ \sqrt{M_{SUSY} M_{Pl}} ~ 10^{11} GeV. We show that the ground state with this property is a stable minimum and is lower …
We study the minimal seesaw model, where two right-handed Majorana neutrinos are introduced, focusing on the CP violating phase. In addition, we take the trimaximal mixing pattern for the neutrino flavor where the charged lepton mass matrix is diagonal. Thanks to this symmetric framework, the $3\times 2$ Dirac neutrino mass matrix is given in terms of a few parameters. Numerical studies reveal that the observation of the CP violating phase can determine the flavor structure of the Dirac neutrino mass matrix in the minimal seesaw model. In particular, new minimal Dirac neutrino mass matrices ar…
We embed $μ-τ$ reflection symmetry into the minimal seesaw formalism, where two right-handed neutrinos are added to the Standard Model of particle physics. Assuming that both the left- and right-handed neutrino fields transform under $μ-τ$ reflection symmetry, we obtain the required forms of the neutrino Dirac mass matrix and the Majorana mass matrix for the right-handed neutrinos. To investigate the neutrino phenomenology at low energies, we first consider the breaking of $μ-τ$ reflection symmetry due to the renormalization group running, and then systematically study various breaking schemes…
We build a supersymmetric model with $SU(2)_{L}\otimes SU(2)_{R}\otimes U(1)_{(B-L)}$ electroweak gauge symmetry, where $SU(2)_{L}$ is the left-handed currents while $SU(2)_{R}$ is the right-handed currents and $B$ and $L$ are the usual baryonic and leptonic numbers. We can generate an universal seesaw mechanism to get masses for all the usual fermions in this model, it means quarks and leptons, and also explain the mixing experimental data. We will also to study the masses of the Gauge Bosons and also the masses of all usual scalars of this model.
We present an S$_4$ flavour symmetric model within a minimal seesaw framework resulting in mass matrices that leads to TM$_1$ mixing. Minimal seesaw is realized by adding two right-handed neutrinos to the Standard Model. The model predicts Normal Hierarchy (NH) for neutrino masses. Using the constrained six-dimensional parameter space, we have evaluated the effective Majorana neutrino mass, which is the parameter of interest in neutrinoless double beta decay experiments. The possibility of explaining baryogenesis via resonant leptogenesis is also examined within the model. A non-zero, resonant…
$SO(5) \times U(1) \times SU(3)$ gauge-Higgs unification model inspired by $SO(11)$ gauge-Higgs grand unification is constructed in the Randall-Sundrum warped space. The 4D Higgs boson is identified with the Aharonov-Bohm phase in the fifth dimension. Fermion multiplets are introduced in the bulk in the spinor, vector and singlet representations of $SO(5)$ such that they are implemented in the spinor and vector representations of $SO(11)$. The mass spectrum of quarks and leptons in three generations is reproduced except for the down quark mass. The small neutrino masses are explained by the ga…
Alternative renormalizable minimal non-SUSY SO(10) GUT model is proposed. Instead of a ${\bf 126}$-dimensional Higgs field, a ${\bf 120}$-dimensional Higgs filed is ntroducedin addition to a ${\bf 10}$-dimensional Higgs field and plays a crucial role to reproduce the realistic charged fermion mass matrices. With contributions of ${\bf 120}$ Higgs field, the original Witten's scenario of inducing the right-handed Majorana neutrino mass through 2-loop diagrams becomes phenomenologically viable. This model inherits the nice features of the conventional renormalizable minimal SO(10) GUT model with…
The most general supersymmetric seesaw mechanism has too many parameters to be predictive and thus can not be excluded by any measurements of lepton flavour violating (LFV) processes. We focus on the simplest version of the type-I seesaw mechanism assuming minimal supergravity (mSugra) boundary conditions. We compute branching ratios for the LFV scalar tau decays, ${\tilde τ}_2 \to (e,μ) + χ^0_1$, as well as loop-induced LFV decays at low energy, such as $l_i \to l_j + γ$ and $l_i \to 3 l_j$, exploring their sensitivity to the unknown seesaw parameters. We find some simple, extreme scenarios f…
