In this paper, we deal with a generalization of the geometry of parallelizable manifolds, or the absolute parallelism (AP-) geometry, in the context of generalized Lagrange spaces. All geometric objects defined in this geometry are not only functions of the positional argument $x$, but also depend on the directional argument $y$. In other words, instead of dealing with geometric objects defined on the manifold $M$, as in the case of classical AP-geometry, we are dealing with geometric objects in the pullback bundle $π^{-1}(TM)$ (the pullback of the tangent bundle $TM$ by $ π: T M\longrightarrow M$). Many new geometric objects, which have no counterpart in the classical AP-geometry, emerge in this more general context. We refer to such a geometry as generalized AP-geometry (GAP-geometry). In analogy to AP-geometry, we define a $d$-connection in $π^{-1}(TM)$ having remarkable properties, which we call the canonical $d$-connection, in terms of the unique torsion-free Riemannian $d$-connection. In addition to these two $d$-connections, two more $d$-connections are defined, the dual and the symmetric $d$-connections. Our space, therefore, admits twelve curvature tensors (corresponding to the four defined $d$-connections), three of which vanish identically. Simple formulae for the nine non-vanishing curvatures tensors are obtained, in terms of the torsion tensors of the canonical $d$-connection. The different $W$-tensors admitted by the space are also calculated. All contractions of the $h$- and $v$-curvature tensors and the $W$-tensors are derived. Second rank symmetric and skew-symmetric tensors, which prove useful in physical applications, are singled out.
In this paper we discuss curvature tensors in the context of Absolute Parallelism geometry. Different curvature tensors are expressed in a compact form in terms of the torsion tensor of the canonical connection. Using the Bianchi identities some other identities are derived from the expressions obtained. These identities, in turn, are used to reveal some of the properties satisfied by an intriguing fourth order tensor which we refer to as Wanas tensor. A further condition on the canonical connection is imposed, assuming it is semi-symmetric. The formulae thus obtained, together with other form…
The crucial but undocumented Dolan-McCrea variational method is richly applied. Using the said method, we analytically derived a field equation comprising entirely of geometric structures and we investigate how effectively it describes gravitational and electromagnetic phenomena. The procedure we adopted involved constructing a scalar invariant as was the case for Einstein's General Relativity (GR) except that the scalar of parameterized Absolute Parallelism geometey consists of the Ricci scalar plus an additional term, which is essentially the contortion. %Based on earlier discourse, a good s…
It is shown that the geometry of parallelizable manifolds can be extended to non-parallelizable ones by extending the connection that a global frame field would define on a parallelizable manifold to a connection that a singular frame field would define on a non-parallelizable one. The resulting connection would typically have non-vanishing curvature in the neighborhood of the singular points of the frame field. The example of a 2-sphere is discussed as a motivating example and later extended to more general suspensions of parallelizable manifolds.
General relativity postulates that the gravity field is defined on a Riemannian manifold. The field equations are $R^μ_ν= 0$ i.e. Ricci's curvature tensor vanishes. The field equations have to be augmented by natural physical requirements like orientability, time orientability and existence of a spinorial structure. Moreover, it is impossible to define the energy of the gravity field only by the metric tensor. We suggest to impose an additional structure and consider parallelizable manifold i.e. manifolds for which a smooth field of frames exists. The derivation of the field equations is by an…
The wave type field equation $\square \vt^a=\la \vt^a$, where $\vt^a$ is a coframe field on a space-time, was recently proposed to describe the gravity field. This equation has a unique static, spherical-symmetric, asymptotically-flat solution, which leads to the viable Yilmaz-Rosen metric. We show that the wave type field equation is satisfied by the pseudo-conformal frame if the conformal factor is determined by a scalar 3D-harmonic function. This function can be related to the Newtonian potential of classical gravity. So we obtain a direct relation between the non-relativistic gravity and t…
Exact vacuum solutions with a nontrivial torsion for the Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory in five dimensions are constructed. We consider a class of static metrics whose spacelike section is a warped product of the real line with a nontrivial base manifold endowed with a fully antisymmetric torsion. It is shown requiring solutions of this sort to exist, fixes the Gauss-Bonnet coupling such that the Lagrangian can be written as a Chern-Simons form. The metric describes black holes with an arbitrary, but fixed, base manifold. It is shown that requiring its ground state to possess unbroken supersymme…
We outline an unified approach to geometrization of Lagrange mechanics, Finsler geometry and geometric methods of constructing exact solutions with generic off-diagonal terms and nonholonomic variables in gravity theories. Such geometries with induced almost symplectic structure are modelled on nonholonomic manifolds provided with nonintegrable distributions defining nonlinear connections. We introduce the concept of Lagrange-Fedosov spaces and Fedosov nonholonomic manifolds provided with almost symplectic connection adapted to the nonlinear connection structure. We investigate the main proper…
In this paper, it is elaborated the theory the Ricci flows for manifolds enabled with nonintegrable (nonholonomic) distributions defining nonlinear connection structures. Such manifolds provide a unified geometric arena for nonholonomic Riemannian spaces, Lagrange mechanics, Finsler geometry, and various models of gravity (the Einstein theory and string, or gauge, generalizations). We follow the method of nonholonomic frames with associated nonlinear connection structure and define certain classes of nonholonomic constraints on Riemann manifolds for which various types of generalized Finsler g…
In this work, we derive the boundary Schrödinger (functional) equation for the wave function of a quantum gravity system on a manifold with boundaries together with a new constraint equation defined on the timelike boundary. From a detailed analysis of the gravity boundary condition on the spatial boundary, we find that while the lapse and the shift functions are independent Lagrange multipliers on the bulk, on the spatial boundary, these two are related; namely, they are not independent. In the Hamiltonian ADM formalism, a new Lagrange multiplier, solving the boundary conditions involving the…
We formulate an approach to the geometry of Riemann-Cartan spaces provided with nonholonomic distributions defined by generic off-diagonal and nonsymmetric metrics inducing effective nonlinear and affine connections. Such geometries can be modelled by moving nonholonomic frames on (pseudo) Riemannian manifolds and describe various types of nonholonomic Einstein, Eisenhart-Moffat and Finsler-Lagrange spaces with connections compatible to a general nonsymmetric metric structure. Elaborating a metrization procedure for arbitrary distinguished connections, we define the class of distinguished line…
The geometry of parallelizable manifolds is presented from the standpoint of regarding it as conventional (e.g., Euclidian or Minkowskian) geometry, when it is described with respect to an anholonomic frame field that is defined on the space in question.
A novel approach for Lagrange formulation for field theories is proposed in terms of Kawaguchi geometry (areal metric space). On the extended configuration space M for classical field theory composed of spacetime and field configuration space, one can define a geometrical structure called Kawaguchi areal metric K from the field Lagrangian and (M,K) can be regarded as Kawaguchi manifold. The geometrical action functional is given by K and the dynamics of field is determined by covariant Euler-Lagrange equation derived from the variational principle of the action. The solution to the equation be…
Finsler and Lagrange spaces can be equivalently represented as almost Kahler manifolds enabled with a metric compatible canonical distinguished connection structure generalizing the Levi Civita connection. The goal of this paper is to perform a natural Fedosov-type deformation quantization of such geometries. All constructions are canonically derived for regular Lagrangians and/or fundamental Finsler functions on tangent bundles.
We provide a method of converting Lagrange and Finsler spaces and their Legendre transforms to Hamilton and Cartan spaces into almost Kaehler structures on tangent and cotangent bundles. In particular cases, the Hamilton spaces contain nonholonomic lifts of (pseudo) Riemannian / Einstein metrics on effective phase spaces. This allows us to define the corresponding Fedosov operators and develop deformation quantization schemes for nonlinear mechanical and gravity models on Lagrange- and Hamilton-Fedosov manifolds.
In this work we investigate Ricci flows of almost Kaehler structures on Lie algebroids when the fundamental geometric objects are completely determined by (semi) Riemannian metrics, or effective) regular generating Lagrange/ Finsler, functions. There are constructed canonical almost symplectic connections for which the geometric flows can be represented as gradient ones and characterized by nonholonomic deformations of Grigory Perelman's functionals. The first goal of this paper is to define such thermodynamical type values and derive almost Kähler - Ricci geometric evolution equations. The se…
We elaborate an unified geometric approach to classical mechanics, Riemann-Finsler spaces and gravity theories on Lie algebroids provided with nonlinear connection (N-connection) structure. There are investigated the conditions when the fundamental geometric objects like the anchor, metric and linear connection, almost sympletic and related almost complex structures may be canonically defined by a N-connection induced from a regular Lagrangian (or Hamiltonian), in mechanical models, or by generic off-diagonal metric terms and nonholonomic frames, in gravity theories. Such geometric constructio…
In this paper, nonholonomic gerbes will be naturally derived for manifolds and vector bundle spaces provided with nonintegrable distributions (in brief, nonholonomic spaces). An important example of such gerbes is related to distributions defining nonlinear connection (N-connection) structures. They geometrically unify and develop the concepts of Riemann-Cartan manifolds and Lagrange-Finsler spaces. The obstruction to the existence of a spin structure on nonholonomic spaces is just the second Stiefel-Whitney class, defined by the cocycle associated to a $\mathbb{Z} /2$ gerbe, which is called t…
These lecture notes present a method for symbolic tensor calculus that (i) runs on fully specified smooth manifolds (described by an atlas), (ii) is not limited to a single coordinate chart or vector frame, (iii) runs even on non-parallelizable manifolds and (iv) is independent of the symbolic backend used to perform calculus at the level of coordinate expressions. In addition to the main ideas, we discuss some details of the implementation in the open-source mathematics software system SageMath, which has been performed via the SageManifolds project.
We classify parallelizable noncommutative manifold structures on finite sets of small size in the general formalism of framed quantum manifolds and vielbeins introduced previously. The full moduli space is found for $\le 3$ points, and a restricted moduli space for 4 points. The topological part of the moduli space is found for $\le 9$ points based on the known atlas of regular graphs. We also discuss aspects of the quantum theory defined by functional integration.
A geometric procedure is elaborated for transforming (pseudo) Riemanian metrics and connections into canonical geometric objects (metric and nonlinear and linear connections) for effective Lagrange, or Finsler, geometries which, in their turn, can be equivalently represented as almost Kahler spaces. This allows us to formulate an approach to quantum gravity following standard methods of deformation quantization. Such constructions are performed not on tangent bundles, as in usual Finsler geometry, but on spacetimes enabled with nonholonomic distributions defining 2+2 splitting with associate n…
Various types of Lagrange and Finsler geometries and the Einstein gravity theory, and modifications, can be modelled by nonholonomic distributions on tangent bundles/ manifolds when the fundamental geometric objects are adapted to nonlinear connection structures. We can convert such geometries and physical theories into almost Kahler/ Poisson structures on (co)tangent bundles. This allows us to apply the Fedosov quantization formalism to almost symplectic connections induced by Lagrange-Finsler and/or Einstein fundamental geometric objects. There are constructed respective nonholonomic version…
We review the current status of Finsler-Lagrange geometry and generalizations. We also would like to orient mathematicians working in generalized Finsler and Kahler geometry and geometric mechanics how they could perform their results in order to be accepted by the community of ''orthodox'' physicists. Although the bulk of former models of Finsler-Lagrange spaces whe…
We propose an unified approach to loop quantum gravity and Fedosov quantization of gravity following the geometry of double spacetime fibrations and their quantum deformations. There are considered pseudo-Riemannian manifolds enabled with 1) a nonholonomic 2+2 distribution defining a nonlinear connection (N-connection) structure and 2) an Arnowitt-Deser-Misner 3+1 decomposition. The Ashtekar-Barbero variables are generalized and adapted to the N-connection structure which allows us to write the general relativity theory equivalently in terms of Lagrange-Finsler variables and related canonical …
The geometry of parallelizable manifolds (i.e., teleparallelism) is summarized in the language of local frame fields. Some problems in continuum mechanics that relate to the couple-stresses that are produced in the bending and twisting of prismatic beams and wires are then discussed. It is then shown that by going to a higher-dimensional analogue of the geometry that one used for one-dimensional deformable objects, one is basically using the methods of teleparallelism in the context of the Cosserat approach to deformable bodies.
