Schroedinger operators with certain Gaussian random potentials in multi-dimensional Euclidean space possess almost surely an absolutely continuous integrated density of states and no absolutely continuous spectrum at sufficiently low energies.
We construct semiclassical solutions of the symplectically covariant Schroedinger phase-space equation rigorously studied in a previous paper; we use for this purpose an adaptation of Littlejohn's nearby-orbit method. We take the opportunity to discuss in some detail the so fruitful notion of squeezed coherent state and the action of the metaplectic group on these states.
Within the framework of stochastic Schroedinger equations, we show that the correspondence between statevector equations and ensemble equations is infinitely many to one, and we discuss the consequences. We also generalize the results of [Phys. Lett. A 224, p. 25 (1996)] to the case of more general complex Gaussian noises and analyze the two important cases of purely real and purely imaginary stochastic processes.
Highly quantum non-linear interactions between different bosonic modes lead to the generation of quantum non-Gaussian states, i.e. states that cannot be written as mixtures of Gaussian states. A paradigmatic example is given by Schroedinger's cat states, that is coherent superpositions of coherent states with opposite amplitude. We here consider a novel quantum non-Gaussianity criterion recently proposed in the literature and prove its effectiveness on Schroedinger cat states evolving in a lossy bosonic channel. We prove that quantum non-Gaussianity can be effectively detected for high values …
We present some physically interesting, in general non-stationary, one-dimensional solutions to the nonlinear phase modification of the Schrödinger equation proposed recently. The solutions include a coherent state, a phase-modified Gaussian wave packet in the potential of harmonic oscillator whose strength varies in time, a free Gaussian soliton, and a similar soliton in the potential of harmonic oscillator comoving with the soliton. The last of these solutions implies that there exist an energy level in the spectrum of harmonic oscillator which is not predicted by the linear theory. The free…
We discuss the time evolution of the wave function which is solution of a stochastic Schroedinger equation describing the dynamics of a free quantum particle subject to spontaneous localizations in space. We prove global existence and uniqueness of solutions. Observing that there exist three time regimes, namely the collapse regime, after which the wave function is localized in space; the classical regime, during which the collapsed wave function moves along a classical path and the diffusive regime, in which diffusion overlaps significantly the deterministic motion, we study the long time beh…
We obtain lower and upper bounds on the heat kernel and Green functions of the Schroedinger operator in a random Gaussian magnetic field and a fixed scalar potential. We apply stochastic Feynman-Kac representation, diamagnetic upper bounds and the Jensen inequality for the lower bound. We show that if the covariance of the electromagnetic (vector) potential is increasing at large distances then the lower bound is decreasing exponentially fast for large distances and a large time.
We obtain time dependent $q$-Gaussian wave-packet solutions to a non linear Schrödinger equation recently advanced by Nobre, Rego-Montero and Tsallis (NRT) [Phys. Rev. Lett. 106 (2011) 10601]. The NRT non-linear equation admits plane wave-like solutions ($q$-plane waves) compatible with the celebrated de Broglie relations connecting wave number and frequency, respectively, with energy and momentum. The NRT equation, inspired in the $q$-generalized thermostatistical formalism, is characterized by a parameter $q$, and in the limit $q \to 1$ reduces to the standard, linear Schrödinger equation. T…
We propose a new rigorous time-slicing construction of the phase space Path Integrals for propagators both in Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Field Theory for a fairly general class of quantum observables (e.g. the Schroedinger hamiltonians with smooth scalar potentials of any power growth). Moreover we allow time-dependent hamiltonians and a great variety of discretizations, in particular, the standard, Weyl, and normal ones.
Schroedinger equation with potentials of the Kratzer plus polynomial type (say, quartic V(r) = A r^4 +B r^3 + C r^2+D r + F/r + G/r^2 etc) is considered. A new method of exact construction of some of its bound states is then proposed. it is based on the Taylor series terminated rigorously after N+1 terms at specific couplings and energies. This enables us to find the exact, complete and compact unperturbed solution of the Magyari's N+2 coupled and nonlinear algebraic conditions of the termination in the strong-coupling regime with G \to \infty. Next, at G < \infty, we adapt the Rayleigh-Schroe…
A multimode uncertainty relation (generalising the Robertson-Schroedinger relation) is derived as a necessary constraint on the second moments of n pairs of canonical operators. In turn, necessary conditions for the separability of multimode continuous variable states under (m+n)-mode bipartitions are derived from the uncertainty relation. These conditions are proven to be necessary and sufficient for (1+n)-mode Gaussian states and for (m+n)-mode bisymmetric Gaussian states.
The spinless Salpeter equation represents the simplest and most straightforward generalization of the Schroedinger equation of standard nonrelativistic quantum theory towards the inclusion of relativistic kinematics. Moreover, it can be also regarded as a well-defined approximation to the Bethe-Salpeter formalism for descriptions of bound states in relativistic quantum field theories. The corresponding Hamiltonian is, in contrast to all Schroedinger operators, a nonlocal operator. Because of the nonlocality, constructing analytical solutions for such kind of equation of motion proves difficult…
The decoy-state scheme is the most widely implemented quantum key distribution protocol in practice. In order to account for the finite-size key effects on the achievable secret key generation rate, a rigorous statistical fluctuation analysis is required. Originally, a heuristic Gaussian-approximation technique was used for this purpose, which, despite of its analytical convenience, was not sufficiently rigorous. The fluctuation analysis has recently been made rigorous by using the Chernoff bound. There is a considerable gap, however, between the key rate bounds obtained from these new techniq…
From random matrix theory it is known that for special values of the coupling constant the Calogero-Moser (CM) equation system is nothing but the radial part of a generalized harmonic oscillator Schroedinger equation. This allows an immediate construction of the solutions by means of a Rodriguez relation. The results are easily generalized to arbitrary values of the coupling constant. By this the CM equations become nearly trivial. As an application an expansion for <exp[i(XY)]> in terms of eigenfunctions of the CM equation system is obtained, where X and Y are matrices taken from one of the G…
The extremality of Gaussian states is exploited to show that Gaussian states are the most robust, among all possible bipartite continuous-variable states at fixed energy, against disentanglement due to noisy evolutions in Markovian Gaussian channels involving dissipation and thermal hopping. This proves a conjecture raised recently in [M. Allegra, P. Giorda, and M. G. A. Paris, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 105}, 100503 (2010)], providing a rigorous validation of the conclusions of that work. The problem of identifying continuous variable states with maximum resilience to entanglement damping in more …
Understanding the roles of the temporary and spatial structures of quantum functional noise in open multilevel quantum molecular systems attracts a lot of theoretical interests. I want to establish a rigorous and general framework for functional quantum noises from the constructive and computational perspectives, $\it{i.e.}$ how to generate the random trajectories to reproduce the kernel and path ordering of the influence functional with effective Monte Carlo methods for arbitrary spectral densities. This construction approach aims to unify the existing stochastic models to rigorously describe…
The full spectrum and eigenfunctions of the quantum version of a nonlinear oscillator defined on an N-dimensional space with nonconstant curvature are rigorously found. Since the underlying curved space generates a position-dependent kinetic energy, three different quantization prescriptions are worked out by imposing that the maximal superintegrability of the system has to be preserved after quantization. The relationships among these three Schroedinger problems are described in detail through appropriate similarity transformations. These three approaches are used to illustrate different feat…
