We show how su(2) intelligent states can be obtained by coupling su(2) coherent states. The construction is simple and efficient, and easily leads to a discussion of some general properties of su(2) intelligent states.
We extend previous work on intelligent states and show how to construct su(3) intelligent states by coupling Su(3) coherent states. We also discuss some properties of the resulting states.
This article is an illustration of the construction of coherent and generalized intelligent states which has been recently proposed by us for an arbitrary quantum system $[ 1] $. We treat the quantum system submitted to the infinite square well potential and the nonlinear oscillators. By means of the analytical representation of the coherent states à la Gazeau-Klauder and those à la Klauder-Perelomov, we derive the generalized intelligent states in analytical ways.
We construct nonlinear coherent states or f-deformed coherent states for a nonpolynomial nonlinear oscillator which can be considered as placed in the middle between the harmonic oscillator and the isotonic oscillator (Cariñena J F et al, J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 41, 085301 (2008)). The deformed annihilation and creation operators which are required to construct the nonlinear coherent states in the number basis are obtained from the solution of the Schrödinger equation. Using these operators, we construct generalized intelligent states, nonlinear coherent states, Gazeau-Klauder coherent states…
We introduce the concept of algebra eigenstates which are defined for an arbitrary Lie group as eigenstates of elements of the corresponding complex Lie algebra. We show that this concept unifies different definitions of coherent states associated with a dynamical symmetry group. On the one hand, algebra eigenstates include different sets of Perelomov's generalized coherent states. On the other hand, intelligent states (which are squeezed states for a system of general symmetry) also form a subset of algebra eigenstates. We develop the general formalism and apply it to the SU(2) and SU(1,1) si…
We study a quantum system of coupled oscillators subject to a periodic excitation of its parameters. Using Floquet-Lyapunov theory we derive the linear integrals of motion of the system and relate their covariance matrix to that for the canonical observables. The operator integrals allows us to construct the intelligent (minimum uncertainty) states of the system and the corresponding photon-added states. We found explicit expressions for the wavefunction, Wigner function and covariance matrix of these states.
We remind the properties of the intelligent (and quasi-intelligent) spin states introduced by Aragone et al. We use these states to construct families of coherent wave packets on the sphere and we sketch the time evolution of these wave packets for a rigid body molecule.
Based on the {\it nonlinear coherent states} method, a general and simple algebraic formalism for the construction of \textit{`$f$-deformed intelligent states'} has been introduced. The structure has the potentiality to apply to systems with a known discrete spectrum as well as the generalized coherent states with known nonlinearity function $f (n)$. As some physical appearance of the proposed formalism, a few new classes of intelligent states associated with \textit{`center of-mass motion of a trapped ion'}, \textit{`harmonious states'} and \textit{`hydrogen-like spectrum'} have been realized…
Generalized Intelligent States (coherent and squeezed states) are derived for an arbitrary quantum system by using the minimization of the so-called Robertson-Schrödinger uncertainty relation. The Fock-Bargmann representation is also considered. As a direct illustration of our construction, the Pöschl-Teller potentials of trigonometric type will be shosen. We will show the advantage of the Fock-Bargmann representation in obtaining the generalized intelligent states in an analytical way. Many properties of these states are studied.
The dynamics of the entanglement for coherent excitonic states in the system of two coupled large semiconductor quantum dots ($R/a_{B}\gg 1$) mediated by a single-mode cavity field is investigated. Maximally entangled coherent excitonic states can be generated by cavity field initially prepared in odd coherent state. The entanglement of the excitonic coherent states between two dots reaches maximum when no photon is detected in the cavity. The effects of the zero-temperature environment on the entanglement of excitonic coherent state are also studied using the concurrence for two subsystems of…
We investigate the single-photon propagation in the one-dimensional waveguide coupled to $N$ two-level atoms. For a waveguide coupled to $N$ distant atoms, the transparency can be induced by coherent interaction at resonance for an $even$ $number$ of $N$, while for an $odd$ $number$ of $N$, the photon can be fully reflected. We then can switch the photon transport by controlling the atomic number. For a waveguide coupled to a small atomic ensemble of $N$ atoms in the same position, the transparency disappears, and the photonic transport property displays a jump behavior near the resonance poin…
Motivated by the need for communication of coherent state-based qubits in quantum computers, we introduce a method for perfect transferring of an arbitrary superposition of coherent states between two distant nodes of a linear array of three semiconductor QDs. The QDs trapped in a system of coupled cavities. In this method, the field mode of the cavities, as the resource of transferring of quantum states, are only virtually excited which minimizes the effect of decoherence due to photon loss.
We have studied the coherent excitation of a strongly coupled QD/photonic crystal cavity system. Time-resolved reflectivity measurements show the vacuum Rabi oscillation of the dot in the cavity. Next, we considered the resonant driving of a cavity-detuned dot, which efficiently populates the cavity mode. This cavity-controlled read-out channel allows high-resolution single quantum dot spectroscopy. Autocorrelation measurements on the cavity mode show antibunching and suggest the use of the resonantly driven QD/cavity system as an on-demand source of single photons with potentially near-unity …
We present a scheme to prepare generalized coherent states in a system with two species of Bose-Einstein condensates. First, within the two-mode approximation, we demonstrate that a Schrodinger cat-like can be dynamically generated and, by controlling the Josephson-like coupling strength, the number of coherent states in the superposition can be varied. Later, we analyze numerically the dynamics of the whole system when interspecies collisions are inhibited. Variables such as fractional population, Mandel parameter and variances of annihilation and number operators are used to show that the ev…
We present analytical and numerical simulation results for squeezing, entanglement, and quantum discord in a dissipatively coupled coherent Ising machine (CIM). Both analytical solutions and numerical simulation results, which are obtained with positive-P, truncated-Wigner and truncated-Husimi representations for the density operator, predict the presence of entanglement and quantum discord, below and above the threshold of CIM. The entanglement criteria and quantum discord are evaluated as a function of the dissipative coupling strength relative to the background loss. For coupled two DOPOs, …
This is the first one of a series of our papers theoretically studying the coherent control of photon transmission along the coupled resonator optical waveguide (CROW) by doping artificial atoms for various hybrid structures. We will provide the several approaches correspondingly based on Green function, the mean field method and spin wave theory et al. In the present paper we adopt the two-time Green function approach to study the coherent transmission photon in a CROW with homogeneous couplings, each cavity of which is doped by a two-level artificial atom. We calculate the two-time correlati…
We consider the dynamics of a single electron in a chain of tunnel coupled quantum dots, exploring the formal analogies of this system with some of the laser-driven multilevel atomic or molecular systems studied by Bruce W. Shore and collaborators over the last 30 years. In particular, we describe two regimes for achieving complete coherent transfer of population in such a multistate system. In the first regime, by carefully arranging the coupling strengths, the flow of population between the states of the system can be made periodic in time. In the second regime, by employing a "counterintuit…
In this paper, we propose and study a hybrid mechanism for coherent transmission of photons in the coupled resonator optical waveguide (CROW) by incorporating the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) effect into the controllable band gap structure of the CROW. Here, the configuration setup of system consists of a CROW with homogeneous couplings and the artificial atoms with $Λ$-type three levels doped in each cavity. The roles of three levels are completely considered based on a mean field approach where the collection of three-level atoms collectively behave as two-mode spin waves. …
We investigate the spontaneous emission from an inverted Y-type atomic system coupled by three coherent fields. We use the Schrödinger equation to calculate the probability amplitudes of the wave function of the system and derive an analytical expression of the spontaneous emission spectrum to trace the origin of the spectral features. Quantum interference effects, such as the spectral line narrowing, spectrum splitting and dark resonance are observed. The number of spectral components, the spectral linewidth, and relative heights can be very different depending on the physical parameters. A v…
We present a new analysis on the quantum control for a quantum system coupled to a quantum probe. This analysis is based on the coherent control for the quantum system and a hyperthesis that the probe can be prepared in specified initial states. The results show that a quantum system can be manipulated by probe state-dependent coherent control. In this sense, the present analysis provides a new control scheme which combines the coherent control and state preparation technology.
Computer simulations of many-body quantum dynamics of indistinguishable particles is a challenging task for computational physics. In this paper we demonstrate that the method of coupled coherent states (CCS) developed previously for multidimensional quantum dynamics of distinguishable particles can be used to study indistinguishable bosons in the second quantisation formalism. To prove its validity, the technique termed here coupled coherent states for indistinguishable bosons (CCSB) is tested on two model problems. The first is a system-bath problem consisting of a tunnelling mode coupled to…
We study coherent perfect absorption (CPA) theoretically based on a weakly coupled atom-cavity system with an optically pumped second-order nonlinear crystal (SOC) embedded in the cavity. Our system does not require a strong coupling, which is often needed for CPA in previous studies but is challenging to implement experimentally in some systems. The role of the SOC is to introduce a tunable effective decay rate of the cavity, which can lead to CPA in the weak coupling regime. The proposed system exhibits bistable behaviors, with bistable patterns switchable between conventional and unconventi…
Cooling to the motional ground state is an important first step in the preparation of nonclassical states of mesoscopic mechanical oscillators. Light-mediated coupling to a remote atomic ensemble has been proposed as a method to reach the ground state for low frequency oscillators. The ground state can also be reached using optical measurement followed by feedback control. Here we investigate the possibility of enhanced cooling by combining these two approaches. The combination, in general, outperforms either individual technique, though atomic ensemble-based cooling and feedback cooling each …
Quantum networks based on optically addressable spin qubits promise to enable secure communication, distributed quantum computing, and tests of fundamental physics. Scaling up quantum networks based on solid-state luminescent centers requires coherent spin and optical transitions coupled to photonic resonators. Here we investigate single $\mathrm{{}^{171}Yb^{3+}}$ ions in yttrium orthovanadate coupled to a nanophotonic cavity. These ions possess optical and spin transitions that are first-order insensitive to magnetic field fluctuations, enabling optical linewidths less than 1 MHz and spin coh…
We propose a solid-state implementation of stimulated Raman adiabatic passage in two coupled semiconductor quantum dots. Proper combination of two pulsed laser fields allows the coherent carrier transfer between the two nanostructures without suffering significant losses due to environment coupling. By use of a general solution scheme for the carrier states in the double-dot structure, we identify the pertinent dot and laser parameters.
We demonstrate that the [Yb(trensal)] molecule is a prototypical coupled electronic qubit-nuclear qudit system. The combination of noise-resilient nuclear degrees of freedom and large reduction of nutation time induced by electron-nuclear mixing enables coherent manipulation of this qudit by radio-frequency pulses. Moreover, the multi-level structure of the qudit is exploited to encode and operate a qubit with embedded basic quantum error correction.
We study the coherent control of microwave photons propagating in a superconducting waveguide consisting of coupled transmission line resonators, each of which is connected to a tunable charge qubit. While these coupled line resonators form an artificial photonic crystal with an engineered photonic band structure, the charge qubits collectively behave as spin waves in the low excitation limit, which modify the band-gap structure to slow and stop the microwave propagation. The conceptual exploration here suggests an electromagnetically controlled quantum device based on the on-chip circuit QED …
We study coherent oscillations in double quantum dots tunnel-coupled to metallic leads by means of full counting statistics of electron transport. If two such systems are coupled by Coulomb interaction, there are in total six (instead of only two) oscillation modes of the entangled system with interaction-dependent oscillation frequencies. By tuning the bias voltage, one can engineer decoherence such that only one of the six modes, in which the charge oscillations in both double quantum dots become synchronized in antiphase, is singled out. We suggest to use waiting-time distributions and the …
Coherent light-matter interaction at the single photon and electronic qubit level promises the remarkable potential for nonclassical information processing. Against the efforts of improving the figure of merit of the cavities, here we demonstrate strong anharmonicity in the polariton dressed states via dark state resonances in a highly dissipative cavity. It is shown that vacuum Rabi oscillation occurs for a single quantum emitter inside a cavity even with bosonic decay-to-interaction rate ratio exceeding $10^{2}$, when the photon field is coupled to an auxiliary high-$Q$ cavity. Moreover, pho…
Coupled parametric oscillators were recently employed as simulators of artificial Ising networks, with the potential to solve computationally hard minimization problems. We demonstrate a new dynamical regime within the simplest network - two coupled parametric oscillators, where the oscillators never reach a steady state, but show persistent, full-scale, coherent beats, whose frequency reflects the coupling properties and strength. We present a detailed theoretical and experimental study and show that this new dynamical regime appears over a wide range of parameters near the oscillation thresh…
Strongly coupled quantum dot-cavity systems provide a non-linear configuration of hybridized light-matter states with promising quantum-optical applications. Here, we investigate the coherent interaction between strong laser pulses and quantum dot-cavity polaritons. Resonant excitation of polaritonic states and their interaction with phonons allow us to observe coherent Rabi oscillations and Ramsey fringes. Furthermore, we demonstrate complete coherent control of a quantum dot-photonic crystal cavity based quantum-bit. By controlling the excitation power and phase in a two-pulse excitation sch…
We report a new version of fermion coupled coherent states method (FCCS-II) to simulate two-electron systems based on a self-symmetrized six-dimensional (6D) coherent states grid. Unlike the older fermion coupled coherent states method (FCCS-I), FCCS-II does not need any new equations in comparison with the coupled coherent states method. FCCS-II uses a simpler and more efficient approach for symmetrizing the spatial wave function in the simulation of fermionic systems. This method, has significantly increased the speed of computations and give us the capability to simulate the quantum systems…
The dynamics of two traps with ultracold atoms and connected by Josephson type coupling, is shown to exhibit a transition from dispersive dynamics to localized coherent oscillations. This transition is controlled by coupling strength and energy offset between the traps. The dynamics is also shown to be exactly that of a Heisenberg chain with a linear magnetic field. Possible applications for ``quantum-state engineering'' are discussed.
The nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in diamond has been established as a prime building block for quantum networks. However, scaling beyond a few network nodes is currently limited by low spin-photon entanglement rates, resulting from the NV center's low probability of coherent photon emission and collection. Integration into a cavity can boost both values via the Purcell effect, but poor optical coherence of near-surface NV centers has so far prevented their resonant optical control, as would be required for entanglement generation. Here, we overcome this challenge, and demonstrate resonant addr…
Generation of an ultra-bright, deterministic, solid-state single photon source with high photon collection rate is an imperative requirement for quantum technologies. In this direction, various nanophotonic systems coupled with single quantum emitters are being implemented, but results in low decay rate enhancement and MHz photon collection rate. Here, we unravel coherent superposition of excited Mie-scattering moments in a dipolar antenna, coupled with a single nitrogen-vacancy (NV-) center, to achieve bright single photon source with GHz collection rate. Such balancing of Mie-scattering mome…
Stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) offers significant advantages for coherent population transfer between un- or weakly-coupled states and has the potential of realizing efficient quantum gate, qubit entanglement, and quantum information transfer. Here we report on the realization of STIRAP in a superconducting phase qutrit - a ladder-type system in which the ground state population is coherently transferred to the second-excited state via the dark state subspace. The result agrees well with the numerical simulation of the master equation, which further demonstrates that with the stat…
The control and manipulation of quantum-entangled non-local states is a crucial step for the development of quantum information processing. A promising route to achieve such states on a wide scale is to couple solid-state quantum emitters through their coherent dipole-dipole interactions. Entanglement in itself is challenging, as it requires both nanometric distances between emitters and nearly degenerate electronic transitions. Implementing hyperspectral imaging to identify pairs of coupled organic molecules trapped in a low temperature matrix, we reach distinctive spectral signatures of maxi…
We show that using coherent, spatially resolved spectroscopy, complex hybrid wave functions can be disentangled into the individual wave functions of the individual emitters. This way, detailed information on the coupling of the individual emitters, not available in far-field spectroscopy can be obtained. The proposed quantum state tomography relies on the ability to selectively excite each emitter individually by spatially localized pulses. Simulations of coupled semiconductor Ga/InAs quantum dots, using light fields available in current nanoplasmonics, show that even undesired resonances can…
A photonic circuit is generally described as a structure in which light propagates by unitary exchange and transfers reversibly between channels. In contrast, the term `diffusive' is more akin to a chaotic propagation in scattering media, where light is driven out of coherence towards a thermal mixture. Based on the dynamics of open quantum systems, the combination of these two opposites can result in novel techniques for coherent light control. The crucial feature of these photonic structures is dissipative coupling between modes, via an interaction with a common reservoir. Here, we demonstra…
We consider the time development of the density matrix for a system coupled to a thermal bath, in models that go beyond the standard two-level systems through addition of an energy excitation degree of freedom and through the possibility of the replacement of the spin algebra by a more complex algebra. We find conditions under which increasing the coupling to the bath above a certain level decreases the rate of entropy production, and in which the limiting behavior is a dissipationless sinusoidal oscillation that could be interpreted as the synchronization of many modes of the uncoupled system…
In this paper, we develop a system identification algorithm to identify a model for unknown linear quantum systems driven by time-varying coherent states, based on empirical single-shot continuous homodyne measurement data of the system's output. The proposed algorithm identifies a model that satisfies the physical realizability conditions for linear quantum systems, challenging constraints not encountered in classical (non-quantum) linear system identification. Numerical examples on a multiple-input multiple-output optical cavity model are presented to illustrate an application of the identif…
We study the potential for controlled transfer of population to the biexciton state of a semiconductor quantum dot coupled with a metal nanoparticle, under the influence of an electromagnetic pulse with hyperbolic secant shape, and derive analytical solutions of the density matrix equations, for both zero and nonzero biexciton energy shift. These solutions lead to efficient transfer to the biexciton state, for various interparticle distances, including relatively small values. In certain cases, when the distance between the two particles is small, the transfer of population is strongly modifie…
We discuss the evolution of the quantum state of an ensemble of atoms that are coupled via a single propagating optical mode. We theoretically show that the quantum state of N atoms, which are initially prepared in the timed Dicke state, evolves through all the N - 1 states that are subradiant with respect to the propagating mode. We predict this process to occur for any atom number and any atom-light coupling strength. These findings are supported by measurements performed with cold cesium atoms coupled to the evanescent field of an optical nanofiber. We experimentally observe the evolution o…
Progress with quantum technology has for a large part been realized with the nitrogen-vacancy centre in diamond. Part of its properties, however, are nonideal and this drives research into other spin-active crystal defects. Several of these come with much stronger energy scales for spin-orbit and hyperfine coupling, but how this affects their spin coherence is little explored. Vanadium in silicon carbide is such a system, with technological interest for its optical emission at a telecom wavelength and compatibility with semiconductor industry. Here we show coherent spin dynamics of an ensemble…
We propose a device architecture capable of direct quantum electro-optical conversion of microwave to optical photons. The hybrid system consists of a planar superconducting microwave circuit coupled to an integrated whispering-gallery-mode microresonator made from an electro-optical material. We show that electro-optical (vacuum) coupling rates $g_0$ as large as$\sim 2π\, \mathcal{O}(10-100)$ kHz are achievable with currently available technology, due to the small mode volume of the planar microwave resonator. Operating at millikelvin temperatures, such a converter would enable high-efficienc…
We study (non-perturbatively) the interactions of delta-coupled detectors with coherent states of a scalar field. We show that the time-evolved density matrix spectra of i) a single detector, ii) two detectors, and iii) the partial transpose of the latter, are all independent of which coherent state the field was in. Furthermore, we find that the eigenvalues in iii) are non-negative, implying that a delta-coupled detector pair cannot harvest entanglement from the vacuum, or any other coherent field state.
