Chain of nuclear spins system quantum computer taking into account second neighbor Ising spins interaction and numerical simulation of Shor factorization of N=4
For a one-dimensional chain of four nuclear spins (1/2) and taking into account first and second neighbor interactions among the spin system, we make the numerical simulation of Shor prime factorization algorithm of the integer number N=4 to study the influence of the second neighbor interaction on the performance of this algorithm. It is shown that the optimum Rabi's frequency to control the non-resonant effects is dominated by the second neighbor interaction coupling parameter ($J'$), and that a good Shor quantum factorization is achieved for a ratio of second to first coupling constant of $J'/J\ge 0.04$.
Quantum computation is a continuously growing research area which is based on nature and resources of quantum mechanics, as superposition and entanglement. In its quantum circuits version, the use of convenient and appropriate gates is essential. But while those gates adopt convenient forms for computational algorithms, their design depends on specific quantum systems and stu? being used. These gates need manage quantum systems based on physical interactions ruled by quantum Hamiltonians. With this, gates design is restricted to properties and limitations of interactions and physical elements …

Black-box optimization has potential in numerous applications such as hyperparameter optimization in machine learning and optimization in design of experiments. Ising machines are useful for binary optimization problems because variables can be represented by a single binary variable of Ising machines. However, conventional approaches using an Ising machine cannot handle black-box optimization problems with non-binary values. To overcome this limitation, we propose an approach for integer-variable black-box optimization problems by using Ising/annealing machines and factorization machines in c…

We have developed a framework to convert an arbitrary integer factorization problem to an executable Ising model by first writing it as an optimization function and then transforming the k-bit coupling ($k\geq 3$) terms to quadratic terms using ancillary variables. The method is efficient and uses $\mathcal{O}(\text{log}^2(N))$ binary variables (qubits) for finding the factors of integer $N$. The method was tested using the D-Wave 2000Q for finding an embedding and determining the prime factors for a given composite number. As examples, we present quantum annealing results for factoring 15, 14…
Quantum-Kit is a graphical desktop application for quantum circuit simulations. Its powerful, memory-efficient computational engine enables large-scale simulations on a desktop. The ability to design hybrid circuits, with both quantum and classical bits and controls, is employed to demonstrate Kitaev's approach to Shor's factorization algorithm. For the first time, Shor's factorization of a 24-bit integer is simulated with Quantum-Kit in a mere 26 minutes on a modest desktop with Intel Core i5 7400T, 2.4GHz and12GB RAM. While the largest number factorized so far has been a 20-bit integer, requ…
Quantum computers are expected to break today's public key cryptography within a few decades. New cryptosystems are being designed and standardised for the post-quantum era, and a significant proportion of these rely on the hardness of problems like the Shortest Vector Problem to a quantum adversary. In this paper we describe two variants of a quantum Ising algorithm to solve this problem. One variant is spatially efficient, requiring only O(NlogN) qubits where N is the lattice dimension, while the other variant is more robust to noise. Analysis of the algorithms' performance on a quantum anne…
Shor's quantum algorithm is very important for cryptography, since it can factor large numbers much faster than classical algorithms. In this study, we implement a simulator for Shor's quantum algorithm on graphic processor units (GPU) and compare our results with Liquid -which is Microsoft quantum simulation platform- and two classical CPU-implementations. We evaluate 10 benchmarks for comparing our GPU implementation with Liquid and single-core implementation. The analysis shows that GPU vector operations is more suitable for Shor's quantum algorithm. Our GPU kernel function is compute-bound…
We investigate how to attack Shor's quantum algorithm for factorization with an entangling probe. We show that an attacker can steal an exact solution of Shor's algorithm outside an institute where the quantum computer is installed if he replaces its initialized quantum register with entangled qubits, namely the entangling probe. He can apply arbitrary local operations to his own probe. Moreover, we assume that there is an unauthorized person who helps the attacker to commit a crime inside the institute. He tells garbage data obtained from measurements of the quantum register to the attacker s…
Quantum annealing aims at solving optimization problems efficiently by preparing the ground state of an Ising spin-Hamiltonian quantum mechanically. A prerequisite of building a quantum annealer is the implementation of programmable long-range two-, three- or multi-spin Ising interactions. We discuss an architecture, where the required spin interactions are implemented via two-port, or in general multi-port quantum Ising wires connecting the spins of interest. This quantum annealing architecture of spins connected by Ising quantum wires can be realized by exploiting the three dimensional (3D) …
Quantum computation may well be performed with the use of electric circuits. Especially, the Schrödinger equation can be simulated by the lumped-element model of transmission lines, which is applicable to low-frequency electric circuits. In this paper, we show that the Dirac equation is simulated by the distributed-element model, which is applicable to high-frequency electric circuits. Then, a set of universal quantum gates (the Hadamard, phase-shift and CNOT gates) are constructed by networks made of transmission lines. We demonstrate Shor's prime factorization based on electric circuits. It …
We investigate the effect of short-range correlations on the dynamical phase diagram of quantum many-body systems with long-range interactions. Focusing on Ising spin chains with power-law decaying interactions and accounting for short-range correlations by a cluster mean field theory we show that short-range correlations are responsible for the emergence of a chaotic dynamical region. Analyzing the fine details of the phase diagram, we show that the resulting chaotic dynamics bears close analogies with that of a tossed coin.
Inspired by non-abelian vortex anyons in spinor Bose-Einstein condensates, we consider the quantum double $\mathcal{D}(Q_8)$ anyon model as a platform to carry out a particular instance of Shor's factorization algorithm. We provide the excitation spectrum, the fusion rules, and the braid group representation for this model, and design a circuit architecture that facilitates the computation. All necessary quantum gates, less one, can be compiled exactly for this hybrid topological quantum computer, and to achieve universality the last operation can be implemented in a non-topological fashion. T…
The strategy of shortcuts to adiabaticity enables us to realize adiabatic dynamics in finite time. In the counter-diabatic driving approach, an auxiliary Hamiltonian which is called the counter-diabatic Hamiltonian is appended to an original Hamiltonian to cancel out diabatic transitions. The counter-diabatic Hamiltonian is constructed by using the eigenstates of the original Hamiltonian. Therefore, it is in general difficult to construct the counter-diabatic Hamiltonian for quantum many-body systems. Even if the counter-diabatic Hamiltonian for quantum many-body systems is obtained, it is gen…
We present PyQUBO, an open-source, Python library for constructing quadratic unconstrained binary optimizations (QUBOs) from the objective functions and the constraints of optimization problems. PyQUBO enables users to prepare QUBOs or Ising models for various combinatorial optimization problems with ease thanks to the abstraction of expressions and the extensibility of the program. QUBOs and Ising models formulated using PyQUBO are solvable by Ising machines, including quantum annealing machines. We introduce the features of PyQUBO with applications in the number partitioning problem, knapsac…

Quantum computing technology may soon deliver revolutionary improvements in algorithmic performance, but these are only useful if computed answers are correct. While hardware-level decoherence errors have garnered significant attention, a less recognized obstacle to correctness is that of human programming errors -- "bugs". Techniques familiar to most programmers from the classical domain for avoiding, discovering, and diagnosing bugs do not easily transfer, at scale, to the quantum domain because of its unique characteristics. To address this problem, we have been working to adapt formal meth…
Quantum integer factorization is a potential quantum computing solution that may revolutionize cryptography. Nevertheless, a scalable and efficient quantum algorithm for noisy intermediate-scale quantum computers looks far-fetched. We propose an alternative factorization method, within the digitized-adiabatic quantum computing paradigm, by digitizing an adiabatic quantum factorization algorithm enhanced by shortcuts to adiabaticity techniques. We find that this fast factorization algorithm is suitable for available gate-based quantum computers. We test our quantum algorithm in an IBM quantum c…
Driving a homogeneous system across a quantum phase transition in a quench-time $τ_Q$ generates excitations on wavelengths longer than the Kibble-Zurek (KZ) length $\hatξ\proptoτ_Q^{ν/(1+zν)}$ within the KZ time window $\hat t\proptoτ_Q^{zν/(1+zν)}$, where $z$ and $ν$ are the critical exponents. Quenches designed with local time-dependent inhomogeneity can introduce a gap in the spectrum. For a variety of setups with short-range interactions, they have been shown to suppress excitations if the spatial velocity of the inhomogenous front is below the characteristic KZ velocity $\hat v \propto \h…
