On the basis of quant-ph/0405028 we define the Larmor times for transmission and reflection. These times are valid both for the stationary and time-dependent scattering processes, without any restrictions on the shape of Gaussian-like wave packets. We show that in the stationary case both the Larmor times coincide with the corresponding dwell times obtained in quant-ph/0502073. The Larmor-time concept gives the way to verify the approach presented in quant-ph/0405028.
We propose a solid-state implementation of the Larmor clock that exploits tunnel magnetoresistance to distill information on how long itinerant spins take to traverse a barrier embedded in it. Keeping in mind that the tunnelling time innately involves pristine pre-selection and post-selection, our proposal takes into account the detrimental aspects of multiple reflections by incorporating multiple contacts, multiple current measurements and suitably defined magnetoresistance signals. We report strongly non-reciprocal behaviour for quantum dot exciton spins coupled to nano-photonic waveguides under resonant laser excitation. A clear dependence of the transmission spectrum on the propagation direction is found for a chirally-coupled quantum dot, with spin up and spin down exciton spins coupling to the left and right propagation directions respectively. The reflection signal shows an opposite trend to the transmission, which a numerical model indicates is due to direction-selective saturation of the quantum dot. We present a new model of scattering a quantum particle on the potential step, which reconstructs the prehistory of the subensembles of transmitted and reflected particles by their final states. Unlike the conventional one this model predicts the existence of a transitional spatial region behind the potential step where the probability to find reflected particles is nonzero and the average velocity of transmitted particles monotonously varies between asymptotic values. For both subprocesses we define the dwell and asymptotic group times.
By applying continuity and boundary conditions, the reflection and transmission coefficients of one-dimensional time-independent Schrödinger equation with a symmetric barrier-type shifted Deng-Fan potential are obtained and discussed. The numerical and graphical results are very accurate and consistent with the quantum transmission-reflection principle.
The Bohm interpretation of quantum mechanics is applied to a transmission and reflection process in a double potential well. We consider a time dependent periodic wave function and study the particle trajectories. The average time, eventally transmitted particles stay inside the barrier is the average transmission time, which can be defined using the causal interpretation. The question remains whether these transmission times can be experimentally measured.
Cavity Optomechanical system is speedily approaching the regime where the radiation pressure of a single photon displaces the moving mirror. In this paper, we consider a cavity optomechanical system where the cavity field is driven by an external field. In the limit of weak mirror-cavity couplings, we calculate analytically the reflection and transmission rates for cavity field and discuss the effects of mirror-cavity coupling on the reflection and transmission.
We consider the scattering problems of a quantum particle in a system with a single Y-junction and in ring systems with double Y-junctions. We provide new formalism for such quantum mechanical problems. Based on a path integral approach, we find compact formulas for probability amplitudes in the ring systems. We also discuss quantum reflection and transmission in the ring systems under scale-invariant junction conditions. It is remarkable that perfect reflection can occur in an anti-symmetric ring system, in contrast with the one-dimensional quantum systems having singular nodes of degree 2.
The dynamics of a quantum system undergoing frequent "measurements", leading to the so-called quantum Zeno effect, is examined on the basis of a neutron-spin experiment recently proposed for its demonstration. When the spatial degrees of freedom are duely taken into account, neutron-reflection effects become very important and may lead to an evolution which is totally different from the ideal case.
On the base of a 1D Shrödinger equation the non-linear first-order differential equation (Ricatti type) for a quantum wave impedance function was derived. The advantages of this approach were discussed and demonstrated for a case of a single rectangular barrier. Both the scattering and the bound states problem were reformulated in terms of a quantum wave impedance and its application for solving both these problems was considered. The expressions for a reflection and a transmission coefficient were found on the base of a quantum wave impedance approach.

The Raman gain of a probe light in a three-state $Λ$-scheme placed into a defect of a one-dimensional photonic crystal is studied theoretically. We show that there exists a pump intensity range, where the transmission and reflection spectra of the probe field exhibit \textit{simultaneously} occurring narrow peaks (resonances) whose position is determined by the Raman resonance. Within the framework of Bohmian mechanics dwell times find a straightforward formulation. The computation of associated probabilities and distributions however needs the explicit knowledge of a relevant sample of trajectories and therefore implies formidable numerical effort. Here a trajectory free formulation for the average transmission and reflection dwell times within static spatial intervals [a,b] is given for one-dimensional scattering problems. This formulation reduces the computation time to less than 5% of the computation time by means of trajectory sampling.

Spectral singularities are spectral points that spoil the completeness of the eigenfunctions of certain non-Hermitian Hamiltonian operators. We identify spectral singularities of complex scattering potentials with the real energies at which the reflection and transmission coefficients tend to infinity, i.e., they correspond to resonances having a zero width. We study strong light-mediated resonant dipole-dipole interactions in two-dimensional planar lattices of cold atoms. We provide a detailed analysis for the description of the dipolar point emitter lattice plane as a "super-atom", whose response is similar to electromagnetically-induced transparency, but which exhibits an ultra-narrow collective size-dependent subradiant resonance linewidth.
