The correspondence principle is investigated in the framework of deterministic predictions for individual systems. Exact analytical results are obtained for the quantum and the Liouvillian dynamics of a nonlinear oscillator coupled to a phase-damping reservoir at a finite temperature. In this context, the time of critical wave function spreading - the Ehrenfest time - emerges as the characteristic time scale within which the concept of deterministic behavior is admissible in physics. A scenario of "quasi-determinism" may be then defined within which the motion is experimentally indistinguishable from the truly deterministic motion of Newtonian mechanics. Beyond this time scale, predictions for individual systems can be given only statistically and, in this case, it is shown that diffusive decoherence is indeed a necessary ingredient to establish the quantum-classical correspondence. Moreover, the high-temperature regime is shown to be an additional condition for the quantum-classical transition and, accordingly, a lower bound for the reservoir temperature is derived for our model.
The eigenvalues of a pure quartic oscillator are computed, applying a canonical operator formulation, generalized from the harmonic oscillator. Solving a 10x10 secular equation produces eigenvalues in agreement, to at least 4 significant figures, with accurate computations given in the literature.
In this work, we obtained energy levels of one dimensional quartic anharmonic oscillator by using neural network system. Quartic anharmonic oscillator is a very important tool in quantum mechanics and also in quantum field theory. Our results are in good agreement in high accuracy with the reference studies.
It is shown that for the one-dimensional quantum quartic anharmonic oscillator the numerical results obtained by Okun-Burke in Ref.2 are easily reproduced and can be significantly improved in Lagrange Mesh Method (based on non-uniform lattice).
We use the tridiagonal representation approach to obtain an exact solution of the three-dimensional radial Schrödinger equation for a spiked oscillator with inverse quartic singularity and for all angular momenta. The solution is a finite series of square integrable functions written in terms of the Bessel polynomial.
It is already known that the quantum quartic single-well anharmonic oscillator $V_{ao}(x)=x^2+g^2 x^4$ and double-well anharmonic oscillator $V_{dw}(x)= x^2(1 - gx)^2$ are essentially one-parametric, their eigenstates depend on a combination $(g^2 \hbar)$. Hence, these problems are reduced to study the potentials $V_{ao}=u^2+u^4$ and $V_{dw}=u^2(1-u)^2$, respectively. It is shown that by taking uniformly-accurate approximation for anharmonic oscillator eigenfunction $Ψ_{ao}(u)$, obtained recently, see JPA 54 (2021) 295204 [1] and Arxiv 2102.04623 [2], and then forming the function $Ψ_{dw}(u)=Ψ…
In this work, we present the analytical approach to the evaluation of the conditional measure Wiener path integral. We consider the time-dependent model parameters. We find the differential equation for the variable, determining the behavior of the harmonic as well the an-harmonic parts of the oscillator. We present the an-harmonic part of the result in the form of the operator function.
Out-of-time-ordered correlators (OTOCs) have been suggested as a means to study quantum chaotic behavior in various systems. In this work, I calculate OTOCs for the quantum mechanical anharmonic oscillator with quartic potential, which is classically integrable and has a Poisson-like energy-level distribution. For low temperature, OTOCs are periodic in time, similar to results for the harmonic oscillator and the particle in a box. For high temperature, OTOCs exhibit a rapid (but power-like) rise at early times, followed by saturation consistent with $2\langle x^2\rangle_T \langle p^2\rangle_T$…
In our previous paper I (del Valle--Turbiner, Int. J. Mod. Phys. A34, 1950143, 2019) it was developed the formalism to study the general $D$-dimensional radial anharmonic oscillator with potential $V(r)= \frac{1}{g^2}\,\hat{V}(gr)$. It was based on the Perturbation Theory (PT) in powers of $g$ (weak coupling regime) and in inverse, fractional powers of $g$ (strong coupling regime) in both $r$-space and in $(gr)$-space, respectively. As the result it was introduced - the Approximant - a locally-accurate uniform compact approximation of a wave function. If taken as a trial function in variationa…
We study the dynamics of a quantum Brownian particle weakly coupled to a thermal bath. Working in the Schwinger-Keldysh formalism, we develop an effective action of the particle up to quartic terms. We demonstrate that this quartic effective theory is dual to a stochastic dynamics governed by a non-linear Langevin equation. The Schwinger-Keldysh effective theory, or the equivalent non-linear Langevin dynamics, is insufficient to determine the out of time order correlators (OTOCs) of the particle. To overcome this limitation, we construct an extended effective action in a generalised Schwinger-…
In the thermodynamics of nanoscopic systems the relation between classical and quantum mechanical description is of particular importance. To scrutinize this correspondence we study an anharmonic oscillator driven by a periodic external force with slowly varying amplitude both classically and within the framework of quantum mechanics. The energy change of the oscillator induced by the driving is closely related to the probability distribution of work for the system. With the amplitude $λ(t)$ of the drive increasing from zero to a maximum $λ_{max}$ and then going back to zero again initial and …
An integrable anharmonic oscillator is presumably simulable by a classical computer and therefore by a quantum computer. An integrable anharmonic oscillator whose Hamiltonian is of normal type and quartic in the canonical coordinates is not quantizable. If, as argued here, quantum simulation of a finitely realizable classical physical system entails quantization of that system, then either there exist nonsimulable, integrable anharmonic oscillators or there are no obstructions to quantization by simulation. Simulation quantization implies further that any obstructions to quantization arise ent…
In this comment we show that the eigenvalues of a quartic anharmonic oscillator obtained recently by means of the asymptotic iteration method may not be as accurate as the authors claim them to be.
The generalized Dirac oscillator as one of the exact solvable model in quantum mechanics was introduced in 2+1-dimensional world in this paper. What is more, the general expressions of the exact solutions for these models with the inverse cubic, quartic, quintic and sixtic power potentials in radial Dirac equation were further given by means of the Bethe ansatz method. And finally, the corresponding exact solutions in this paper were further discussed.
In this work, we explore the effects of a quantum quench on the entanglement measures of a two-body coupled oscillator system having quartic interaction. We use the invariant operator method, under a perturbative framework, for computing the ground state of this system. We give the analytical expressions for the total and reduced density matrix of the system having non-Gaussian, quartic interaction terms. Using this reduced density matrix, we show the analytical calculation of two entanglement measures viz., Von Neumann entanglement entropy using replica trick and Renyi entanglement entropy. F…
