In this paper we continue the study, started in [1], of the operatorial formulation of classical mechanics given by Koopman and von Neumann (KvN) in the Thirties. In particular we show that the introduction of the KvN Hilbert space of complex and square integrable "wave functions" requires an enlargement of the set of the observables of ordinary classical mechanics. The possible role and the meaning of these extra observables is briefly indicated in this work. We also analyze the similarities and differences between non selective measurements and two-slit experiments in classical and quantum mechanics.
In this paper we study the classical Hilbert space introduced by Koopman and von Neumann in their operatorial formulation of classical mechanics. In particular we show that the states of this Hilbert space do not spread, differently than what happens in quantum mechanics. The role of the phases associated to these classical "wave functions" is analyzed in details. In this framework we also perform the analog of the two-slit experiment and compare it with the quantum case.

In the paper Sci. Rep. 8, 8401 (2018), among other things, the Ermakov-Lewis invariant was constructed for the time dependent harmonic oscillator in Koopman-von Neumann mechanics. We point out that there is a simpler method that allows one to find this invariant.
The Koopman-von Neumann (KvN) theory is one where the dynamical momentum is not canonically conjugate to position, i.e., position and momentum are deconjugated. From this point of view, we show that the KvN theory arises from quantum mechanics, extracting classical equations of motion from quantum ones. However, preserving the canonical structure of the theory requires introducing ``auxiliary'' canonical conjugates to position and momentum. Classical mechanics (CM), like quantum mechanics (QM), can have an operatorial formulation. This was pioneered by Koopman and von Neumann (KvN) in the 30's. In this thesis we study several features of the operatorial approach to classical mechanics pionereed by Koopman and von Neumann (KvN) in the Thirties. In particular in the first part we study the role of the phases of the KvN states. We analyze, within the KvN theory, the two-slit experiment and the Aharonov-Bohm effect and we make a comparison between the classical and the quantum case. Koopman and von Neumann (KvN) extended the Liouville equation by introducing a phase space function $S^{(K)}(q,p,t)$ whose physical meaning is unknown. We show that a different $S(q,p,t)$, with well-defined physical meaning, may be introduced without destroying the attractive "quantum-like" mathematical features of the KvN theory. In quantum information theory, von Neumann entropy plays an important role. The entropies can be obtained analytically only for a few states. In continuous variable system, even evaluating entropy numerically is not an easy task since the dimension is infinite. We develop the perturbation theory systematically for calculating von Neumann entropy of non-degenerate systems as well as degenerate systems. The result turns out to be a practical way of the expansion calculation of von Neumann entropy.
We explore the relation between the von Neumann entropy and the Renyi entropies of integer orders for shift-invariant quasi-free Fermionic lattice systems. We investigate approximating the von Neumann entropy by a combination of integer-order Renyi entropies and give an estimate for the quality of such an approximation.

We extend Gour et al's characterization of quantum majorization via conditional min-entropy to the context of semifinite von Neumann algebras. Our method relies on a connection between conditional min-entropy and operator space projective tensor norm for injective von Neumann algebras. This approach also connects the tracial Hahn-Banach theorem of Helton, Klep and McCullough to noncommutative vector-valued $L_1$-space.
We review the famous no-hidden-variables theorem in John von Neumann's 1932 book on the mathematical foundations of quantum mechanics. We describe the notorious gap in von Neumann's argument, pointed out by Grete Hermann in 1935 and, more famously, by John Bell in 1966. We disagree with recent papers claiming that Hermann and Bell failed to understand what von Neumann was actually doing.
Quantum bialgebras derivable from Uq(sl2) which contain idempotents and von Neumann regular Cartan-like generators are introduced and investigated.
