Tailoring Single and Multiphoton Probabilities of a Single Photon On-Demand Source

As typically implemented, single photon sources cannot be made to produce single photons with high probability, while simultaneously suppressing the probability of yielding two or more photons. Because of this, single photon sources cannot really produce single photons on demand. We describe a multiplexed system that allows the probabilities of producing one and more photons to be adjusted independently, enabling a much better approximation of a source of single photons on demand.

Multiphoton nonclassical light from clusters of single-photon emitters

We study nonclassical features of multiphoton light emitted by clusters of single-photon emitters. As signatures of nonclassicality, we use violation of inequalities for normalized correlation functions of different orders or the probabilities of multiphoton detection. In experiment, for clusters of 2 to 14 colloidal CdSe/CdS dot-in-rods we observe nonclassical behavior, which gets even more pronounced for larger clusters.

Generation of single and two-mode multiphoton states in waveguide QED

Single and two-mode multiphoton states are the cornerstone of many quantum technologies, e.g., metrology. Climbing the Fock ladder: Advancing multiphoton state generation

A scheme for the enhanced generation of higher photon-number states is realized, using an optical time-multiplexing setting that exploits a parametric down-conversion source for an iterative state generation. We use a quantum feedback mechanism for already generated photons to induce self-seeding of the consecutive nonlinear process, enabling us to coherently add photons to the light that propagates in the feedback loop. Multiphoton interaction of a qutrit with single-mode quantized field in the ultrastrong and deep strong coupling regimes

We consider multiphoton dynamics of a quantum system composed of a three-state atom (a qutrit) and a single-mode photonic field in the ultrastrong and deep strong coupling regimes, when the coupling strength is comparable to or larger than the oscillator energy scale. Exploration of multiphoton entangled states by using weak nonlinearities

We propose a fruitful scheme for exploring multiphoton entangled states based on linear optics and weak nonlinearities. Compared with the previous schemes the present method is more feasible because there are only small phase shifts instead of a series of related functions of photon numbers in the process of interaction with Kerr nonlinearities. Nearly Deterministic Bell Measurement for Multiphoton Qubits and Its Application to Quantum Information Processing

We propose a Bell measurement scheme by employing a logical qubit in Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) entanglement with an arbitrary number of photons. Approaching single-photon pulses

Single-photon pulses cannot be generated on demand, due to incompatible requirements of positive frequencies and positive times. Resulting states therefore contain small probabilities for multiphotons. We derive upper and lower bounds for the maximum fidelity of realizable states that approximate single-photon pulses. The bounds have implications for ultrafast optics; the maximum fidelity is low for pulses with few cycles or close to the onset, but increases rapidly as the pulse envelope varies more slowly. We also demonstrate strictly localized states that are close to single photons.

Universal Response Curve for Nanowire Superconducting Single-Photon Detectors

Using detector tomography, we investigate the detection mechanism in NbN-based superconducting single photon detectors (SSPDs). We demonstrate that the detection probability uniquely depends on a particular linear combination of bias current and energy, for a large variation of bias currents, input energies and detection probabilities, producing a universal detection curve. Unity yield of deterministically positioned quantum dot single photon sources

We report on a platform for the production of single photon devices with a fabrication yield of 100%. The sources are based on InAsP quantum dots embedded within position-controlled bottom-up InP nanowires. Using optimized growth conditions, we produce large arrays of structures having highly uniform geometries.
