Horton, Dewdney, and Nesteruk [quant-ph/0103114] have proposed Bohm-type particle trajectories accompanying a Klein-Gordon wave function psi on Minkowski space. From two vector fields on space-time, W^+ and W^-, defined in terms of psi, they intend to construct a timelike vector field W, the integral curves of which are the possible trajectories, by the following rule: at every space-time point, take either W = W^+ or W = W^- depending on which is timelike.
This procedure, however, is ill-defined as soon as both are timelike, or both spacelike. Indeed, they cannot both be timelike, but they can well both be spacelike, contrary to the central claim of [quant-ph/0103114]. We point out the gap in their proof, provide a counterexample, and argue that, even for a rather arbitrary wave function, the points where both W^+ and W^- are spacelike can form a set of positive measure.
We explore the Klein-Gordon equation in the framework of crypto-Hermitian quantum mechanics. Solutions to common problems with probability interpretation and indefinite inner product of the Klein-Gordon equation are proposed.
The Klein Gordon equation was the first attempt at unifying special relativity and quantum mechanics. While initially discarded this equation of "many fathers" can be used in understanding spinless particles that consequently led to the discovery of pions and other subatomic particles. The equation leads to the development of Dirac equation and hence quantum field theory. It shows interesting quantum relativistic phenomena like Klein Paradox and "Zitterbewegung", a rapid vibrating movement of quantum relativistic particles. The simulation of such quantum equations initially motivated Feynman t…
In this paper we study the relativistic scalar particle described by the Klein-Gordon interacts with the uniform magnetic field in the context of the Som-Raychaudhuri space-time. Based on the property of the biconfluent Heun function equation, the corresponding Klein-Gordon oscillator and generalized Klein-Gordon oscillator under considering the Coulomb potential are separately investigated, and the analogue of the Aharonov-Bohm effect is analyzed in this scenario. On this basis, we also give the influence of different parameters including the parameter α and oscillator frequency ω, and the po…
Recent studies show that deformations in quantum mechanics are inevitable. In this contribution, we consider a relativistic quantum mechanical differential equation in the presence of Dunkl operator-based deformation and we investigate solutions for two important problems in three-dimensional spatial space. To this end, after introducing the Dunkl quantum mechanics, we examine the Dunkl-Klein-Gordon oscillator solutions with the Cartesian and spherical coordinates. In both coordinate systems, we find that the differential equations are separable and their eigenfunctions can be given in terms o…
We introduce the Dunkl--Klein--Gordon (DKG) equation in 2D by changing the standard partial derivatives by the Dunkl derivatives in the standard Klein--Gordon (KG) equation. We show that the generalization with Dunkl derivative of the $z$-component of the angular momentum is what allows the separation of variables of the DKG equation. Then, we compute the energy spectrum and eigenfunctions of the DKG equations for the 2D Coulomb potential and the Klein--Gordon oscillator analytically and from an ${\rm su}(1,1)$ algebraic point of view. Finally, we show that if the parameters of the Dunkl deriv…
We solve the one-dimensional time-independent Klein-Gordon equation in presence of a smooth potential well. The bound state solutions are given in terms of the Whittaker $M_{κ,μ}(x)$ function, and the antiparticle bound state is discussed in terms of potential parameters.
In this work, we study the generalized Klein-Gordon oscillator with interactions on a curved background within the Kaluza-Klein theory. We solve the generalized Klein-Gordon oscillator in the cosmic string space-time with a linear scalar potential and obtain the energy eigenvalue and corresponding eigenfunction. We show that the energy spectrum depends on the global parameters characterizing the space-time and the confining potential parameter. We also solve the generalized Klein-Gordon oscillator in a magnetic cosmic string background in the Kaluza-Klein theory with a linear scalar potential …
The three-dimensional Klein-Gordon oscillator is shown to exhibit an algebraic structure known from supersymmetric quantum mechanics. The supersymmetry is found to be unbroken with a vanishing Witten index, and it is utilized to derive the spectral properties of the Klein-Gordon oscillator, which is closely related to that of the non-relativistic harmonic oscillator in three dimensions. Supersymmetry also enables us to derive a closed-form expression for the energy-dependent Green's function.
This note aims to give prominence to some new results on the absence and localization of eigenvalues for the Dirac and Klein-Gordon operators, starting from known resolvent estimates already established in the literature combined with the renowned Birman-Schwinger principle.
