The usual conjectures of quantum measurements approaches, inspired from the traditional interpretation of Heisenberg's ("uncertainty") relations, are proved as being incorrect. A group of reconsidered conjectures and a corresponding new approach are set forth. The quantum measurements, regarded experimentally as statistical samplings, are described theoretically by means of linear integral transforms of quantum probability density and current, from intrinsic into recorded readings. Accordingly, the quantum observables appear as random variables, valuable, in both readings, through probabilistic numerical parameters (characteristics). The measurements uncertainties (errors) are described by means of the intrinsic-recorded changes for the alluded parameters or for the informational entropies. The present approach, together with other author's investigations, give a natural and unified reconsideration of primary problems of Heisenberg's relations and quantum measurements. The respective reconsideration can offer some nontrivial elements for an expected re-examination of some disputed subsequent questions regarding the foundations and interpretation of quantum mechanics.
The photonic framework offers clues leading to a possible update of the foundations of quantum mechanics yet preserving its mathematical grounds. Reconsideration of quantum theoretic measurement theory warrants removal of ideological prejudices brought in by von Neumann Copenhagen interpretation. Conditions required to bridge abstract to laboratory space formulations of QM permit underscoring fundamental differences to the standard view; entanglement and sustainment concepts help in this task. Entanglement events integrate probing devices leading to q-measurements seen as physical processes. R…
This survey tries to investigate the truths and deficiencies of prevalent philosophy about Uncertainty Relations (UR) and Quantum Measurements (QMS). The respective philosophy, known as being eclipsed by unfinished controversies, is revealed to be grounded on six basic precepts. But one finds that all the respective precepts are discredited by insurmountable deficiencies. So, in regard to UR, the alluded philosophy discloses oneself to be an unjustified mythology. Then UR appear either as short-lived historical conventions or as simple and limited mathematical formulas, without any essential s…
In view of a resurgence of concern about the measurement problem, it is pointed out that the Relativistic Transactional Interpretation (RTI) remedies issues previously considered as drawbacks or refutations of the original TI. Specifically, once one takes into account relativistic processes that are not representable at the non-relativistic level (such as particle creation and annihilation, and virtual propagation), absorption is quantitatively defined in unambiguous physical terms. In addition, specifics of the relativistic transactional model demonstrate that the Maudlin `contingent absorber…
Quantum measurement is a class of quantum channels that sends quantum states to classical states. We set up resource theories of quantum coherence and quantum entanglement for quantum measurements and find relations between them. For this, we conceive a relative entropy type quantity to account for the quantum resources of quantum measurements. The quantum coherence of a quantum measurement can be converted into the entanglement in a bipartite quantum measurement through coherence-non generating transformations. Conversely, a quantum entanglement monotone of quantum measurements induces a quan…
A protocol of quantum dense coding protection of two qubits is proposed in amplitude damping (AD) channel using weak measurement and reversal measurement. It is found that the capacity of quantum dense coding under the weak measurement and reversal measurement is always greater than that without weak measurement and reversal measurement. When the protocol is applied, for the AD channels with different damping coefficient, the result reflects that quantum entanglement can be protected and quantum dense coding becomes successful.
Quantum measurements play a fundamental role in quantum mechanics and quantum information processing, but it is not easy to implement generalized measurements, the most powerful measurements allowed by quantum mechanics. Here we propose a simple recipe for implementing generalized measurements on a qudit via quantum walks. With this recipe, any discrete quantum measurement can be implemented via a one-dimensional discrete quantum walk; the number of steps is only two times the number of measurement outcomes. As an illustration, we present a unified solution for implementing arbitrary symmetric…
We propose an enhanced discrimination measurement for tripartite 3-dimensional entangled states in order to improve the discernible number of orthogonal entangled states. The scheme suggests 3-dimensional Bell state measurement by exploiting composite two 3-dimensional state measurement setups. The setup relies on state-of-the-art techniques, a multi-port interferometer and nondestructive photon number measurements that are used for the post-selection of suitable ensembles. With this scheme, the sifted signal rate of measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution using 3-dimensional q…
The quantum state discrimination problem is to distinguish between non-orthogonal quantum states. This problem has many applications in quantum information theory, quantum communication and quantum cryptography. In this paper a quantum algorithm using weak measurement and partial negation will be proposed to solve the quantum state discrimination problem using a single copy of an unknown qubit. The usage of weak measurement makes it possible to reconstruct the qubit after measurement since the superposition will not be destroyed due to measurement. The proposed algorithm will be able to determ…
Quantum Bell nonlocality is an important quantum phenomenon. Recently, the shareability of Bell nonlocality under unilateral measurements has been widely studied. In this study, we consider the shareability of quantum Bell nonlocality under bilateral measurements. Under a specific class of projection operators, we find that quantum Bell nonlocality cannot be shared for a limited number of times, as in the case of unilateral measurements. Our proof is analytical and our measurement strategies can be generalized to higher dimension cases.
This is a comment on "Strong Measurements Give a Better Direct Measurement of the Quantum Wave Function" which was published as PRL 116, 040502 (2016). We show that there is crucial normalization error in this Letter which invalidates the proposal.
Von Neumann measurement framework describes a dynamic interaction between a target system and a probe. In contrast, a quantum controlled measurement framework uses a qubit probe to control the actions of different operators on the target system, and convenient for establishing universal quantum computation. In this work, we use a quantum controlled measurement framework for measuring quantum states directly. We introduce two types of the quantum controlled measurement framework and investigate the systematic error (the bias between the true value and the estimated values) that caused by these …
Consecutive quantum measurements performed on the same system can reveal fundamental insights into quantum theory's causal structure, and probe different aspects of the quantum measurement problem. According to the Copenhagen interpretation, measurements affect the quantum system in such a way that the quantum superposition collapses after the measurement, erasing any knowledge of the prior state. We show that a sequence of measurements in a collapse picture is equivalent to a quantum Markov chain, and that considering the unitary evolution of quantum wavefunctions interacting consecutively wi…
Measurements serve as the intermediate communication layer between the quantum world and our classical perception. So, the question which measurements efficiently extract information from quantum systems is of central interest. Using quantum steering as a nonclassical phenomenon, we show that there are instances, where the results of all two-outcome measurements can be explained in a classical manner, while the results of some three-outcome measurements cannot. This points at the important role of the number of outcomes in revealing the nonclassicality hidden in a quantum system. Moreover, our…
A new quantum-stochastic differential calculus is derived for representing continuous quantum measurement of the position operator. Closed nonlinear quantum-stochastic differential equation is given for the quantum state of the observed particle. Possible physical realization of continuous position measurement is constructed.
The Von Neumann quantum measurement theory and Zurek reformulation are based on an assumption that the quantum system, apparatus and environment obey the quantum mechanics rules. According to the Zurek theory the observers typically interact with their surrounding environments. In this article, we give a more realistic image of the quantum measurement theory; we have proposed a correction to Zurek quantum measurement theory based on the fuzzy logic and fuzzy set theory.
