A model of evolution of bipartite quantum state entanglement is studied. It involves recently introduced quantum block spin-flip dynamics on a lattice. We find that for initially separable states the considered evolution leads, in general, to entangled states. We also present a complete characterization of two-point correlation functions for that type of dynamics to confirm enhancement of quantum correlations for the considered system.
Entanglement dynamics of a qutrit-qutrit system under the influence of global, local and multilocal decoherence introduced by phase flip, trit flip and trit phase flip channels is investigated. The negativity and realignment criterion are used to quantify the entanglement of the system. It is shown that the entanglement sudden death and distibility sudden death can be avoided in the presence of phase flip, trit flip and trit-phase flip environments. It is shown that certain free entangled distillable qutrit states become bound entangled or separable i.e. convert into non-distillable states und…
A relationship between a recently introduced multipartite entanglement measure, state mixedness, and spin-flip symmetry is established for any finite number of qubits. It is also shown that, within those classes of states invariant under the spin-flip transformation, there is a complementarity relation between multipartite entanglement and mixedness. A number of example classes of multiple-qubit systems are studied in light of this relationship.
In the present article, the robustness of entanglement in two qubits maximally entangled mixed states (MEME) have been studied under quantum decoherence channels. Here we consider bit flip, phase flip, bit-phase-flip, amplitude damping, phase damping and depolarization channels. To quantify the entanglement, the concurrence has been used as an entanglement measure. During this study interesting results have been found for sudden death and birth of entanglement under bit flip and bit-phase-flip channels. While amplitude damping channel produces entanglement sudden death and does not allow re-bi…
Recently, the theoretical work of Fröwis and W. Dür (Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{106}, 110402 (2011)) and the experiment of Lu \emph{et al.} (Nat. Photon. \textbf{8}, 364 (2014)) both showed that the logic-qubit entanglement has its potential application in future quantum communication and quantum network. However, the entanglement will suffer from the noise and decoherence. In this paper, we will investigate the entanglement purification for logic-qubit entanglement. We show that both the bit-flip error and phase-flip error in logic-qubit entanglement can be well purified. Moreover, the bit-flip…
The effect of decoherence on a qubit-qutrit system under the influence of global and multilocal decoherence in non-inertial frames is investigated. It is shown that the entanglement sudden death (ESD) can be avoided in non-inertial frames in the presence of dephasing and bit-trit phase flip channels for entire range of decoherence. However, ESD behaviour is seen for higher level of decoherence in case of phase flip and bit-trit flip channels. Irrespective of the entanglement degradation caused by the Unruh effect, no ESD occurs for the dephasing environment. Furthermore, flipping channels have…
Logic-qubit entanglement is a promising resource in quantum information processing, especially in future large-scale quantum networks. In the paper, we put forward an efficient entanglement purification protocol (EPP) for nonlocal mixed logic entangled states with the bit-flip error in the logic qubits of the logic Bell state, resorting to the photon-atom interaction in low-quality (Q) cavity and atomic state measurement. Different from existing EPPs, this protocol can also purify the logic phase-flip error, and the bit-flip error and the phase-flip error in physic qubit. During the protocol, …
Recently Xiao et al. proposed a scheme for entanglement purification based on doubly entangled photon states (Phys. Rev. A 77(2008) 042315). We modify their scheme for improving the efficiency of entanglement purification. This modified scheme contains two steps, i.e., the bit-flip error correction and the entanglement purification of phase-flip errors. All the photon pairs in the first step can be kept as all the bit-flip errors are corrected. For purifying the phase-flip errors, a wavelength conversion process is needed. This scheme has the advantage of high efficiency and it requires the or…
Logic-qubit entanglement has attracted much attention in both quantum communication and quantum computation. Here, we present an efficient protocol to distill the logic-qubit entanglement with the help of cross-Kerr nonlinearity. This protocol not only can purify the logic bit-flip error and logic phase-flip error, but also can correct the physical bit-flip error completely. We use cross-Kerr nonlinearity to construct quantum nondemolition detectors. Our distillation protocol for logic-qubit entanglement may be useful for the practical applications in quantum information, especially in long-di…
We present an efficient entanglement purification protocol with hyperentanglement in which additional spatial entanglement is utilized to purify the two-particle polarization-entangled state. The bit-flip error and phase-flip error can be corrected and eliminated in one step. Two remote parties can obtainmaximally entangled polarization states deterministically and only passive linear optics are employed. We also discuss the protocol with practical quantum source and noisy channel.
Via a multidimensional complementarity relation we derive a novel operational entanglement measure for any discrete quantum system, i.e. for any multidimensional and multipartite system. This new measure admits a separation into different classes of entanglement obtained by using a flip operator 2,3,...,n times, defining a m-flip concurrence. For mixed states bounds on this m-flip concurrence can be obtained. Moreover, the information content of a n partite multidimensional system admits an intuitive interpretation. Explicitly, the three qubits system is analyzed and the physical difference in…
The one-tangle and π-tangle are used to quantify the entanglement of a tripartite GHZ state in noninertial frames when the system interacts with a noisy environment in the form of phase damping, phase flip and bit flip channel. It is shown that the two-tangles behave as a closed system. The one-tangle and π-tangle have different behaviors in the three channel. In the case of phase damping channel, depending on the kind of coupling, the sudden death of both one-tangle and π-tangle may or may not happen. Whereas in the case of phase flip channel the sudden death cannot be avoided. The effect of …
We study the effects of decoherence on the entanglement generated by Unruh effect in noninertial frames by using bit flip, phase damping and depolarizing channels. It is shown that decoherence strongly influences the initial state entanglement. The entanglement sudden death can happens irrespective of the acceleration of the noninertial frame under the action of phase flip and phase damping channels. It is investigated that an early sudden death happens for large acceleration under the depolarizing environment. Moreover, the entanglement increases for a highly decohered phase flip channel.
Decoherence effect on multipartite entanglement in non-inertial frames is investigated. GHZ state is considered to be shared between the partners with one partner in inertial frame whereas the other two in accelerated frames. One-tangle and π-tangles are used to quantify the entanglement of the multipartite system influenced by phase damping and phase flip channels. It is seen that for phase damping channel, entanglement sudden death (ESD) occurs for p>0.5 in the infinite acceleration limit. On the other hand, in case of phase flip channel, ESD behaviour happens around 50% decoherence. It is a…
Time reversal and spin flip are discrete symmetry operations of substantial import to quantum information and quantum computation. Spin flip arises in the context of separability, quantification of entanglement and the construction of Universal NOT gates. The present work investigates the relationship between the quantum state of a multiqubit system represented by the Discrete Wigner Function (DWFs) and its spin-flipped counterpart. The two are shown to be related through a Hadamard matrix that is independent of the choice of the quantum net used for the tomographic reconstruction of the DWF. …
A semiconductor quantum dot (QD) is an attractive resource to generate polarization-entangled photon pairs. We study the excitonic spin precession (flip-flop) in a family of QDs with different excitonic fine-structure splitting (FSS) and its impact on the entanglement of photons generated from the excitonic-biexcitonic radiative cascade. Our results reveal that coherent processes leave the time post-selected entanglement of QDs with finite FSS unaffected while changing the eigenstates of the system. The flip-flop's precession is observed via quantum tomography through anomalous oscillations of…
We investigate the system-environment information flow from the point of view ofcomplete complementarity relations. We consider some commonly used noisy quantum channels:Amplitude damping, phase damping, bit flip, bit-phase flip, phase flip, depolarizing, and correlatedamplitude damping. By starting with an entangled bipartite pure quantum state, with the linearentropy being the quantifier of entanglement, we study how entanglement is redistributed and turnedinto general correlations between the degrees of freedom of the whole system. For instance, it ispossible to express the entanglement ent…
In this article, by considering Bell-diagonal two-qubit initial states submitted to local dynamics generated by the phase damping, bit flip, phase flip, bit-phase flip, and depolarizing channels, we report some elegant direct-dynamical relations between geometric measures of entanglement and discord. The complex scenario appearing already in this simplified case study indicates that similarly simple relation shall hardly be found in more general situations.
We consider two different ways to encode quantum information, by parallel or anti-parallel pairs of spins. We find that there is more information in the anti-parallel ones. This purely quantum mechanical effect is due to entanglement, not of the states but occuring in the course of the measuring process. We also introduce a range of quantum information processing machines, such as spin-flip and anti-cloning.
The task of preserving entanglement against noises is of crucial importance for both quantum communication and quantum information transfer. To this aim, quantum error correction (QEC) codes may be employed to compensate, at least partially, the detriments induced by environmental noise that can be modelled as a bit-flip or a phase-flip error channel. In this paper we investigate the effects of the simple three-qubit QEC codes to restore entanglement and nonlocality in a two-qubit system and consider two practical applications: superdense coding and quantum teleportation. Though the considered…
We present a scheme for multipartite entanglement purification of quantum systems in a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state with quantum nondemolition detectors (QNDs). This scheme does not require the controlled-not gates which cannot be implemented perfectly with linear optical elements at present, but QNDs based on cross-Kerr nonlinearities. It works with two steps, i.e., the bit-flipping error correction and the phase-flipping error correction. These two steps can be iterated perfectly with parity checks and simple single-photon measurements. This scheme does not require the parties to posses…
We study the effect of quantum memory in non-inertial frames under the influence of amplitude damping, depolarizing, phase flip and bit-phase flip channels. It is shown that the entanglement of initial state is heavily influenced by quantum correlations. It is seen that quantum memory compensates the loss of entanglement generated caused by the Unruh effect. It is interesting to note that the sudden death of entanglement disappears for any acceleration for higher values of memory. Therefore, it is possible to avoid ESD in non-inertial frames due to the presence of quantum memory. Furthermore, …
Quantum communication is a secure way to transfer quantum information and to communicate with legitimate parties over distant places in a network. Although communication over a long distance has already been attained, technical problem arises due to unavoidable loss of information through the transmission channel. Quantum repeaters can extend the distance scale using entanglement swapping and purification scheme. Here we demonstrate the working of a quantum repeater by the above two processes. We use IBM's real quantum processor `ibmqx4' to create two pair of entangled qubits and design an equ…
The disentangling effect of repeated applications of the bit flip channel (I\otimesσ_x) on bipartite qubit systems is analyzed. It is found that the rate of loss of entanglement is not uniform over all states. The distillable entanglement of maximally entangled states decreases faster than that of less entangled states. The analysis is also generalized to noise channels of the form n.sigma.
Stroboscopic spin flips have already been shown to prolong the coherence times of quantum systems under noisy environments. Uhrig's dynamical decoupling scheme provides an optimal sequence for a quantum system interacting with a dephasing bath. Several experimental demonstrations have already verified the efficiency of such dynamical decoupling schemes in preserving single qubit coherences. In this work we describe the experimental study of Uhrig's dynamical decoupling in preserving two-qubit entangled states using an ensemble of spin-1/2 nuclear pairs in solution state. We find that the perfo…
We investigate measurement-based quantum communication with noisy resource states that are generated by entanglement purification. We consider the transmission of encoded information via noisy quantum channels using a measurement-based implementation of encoding, error correction and decoding. We show that such an approach offers advantages over direct transmission, gate-based error correction and measurement-based schemes with direct generation of resource states. We analyze the noise structure of resource states generated by entanglement purification and show that a local error model, i.e. n…
Effect of decoherence and correlated noise on the entanglement of X-type state of the Dirac fields in the non-inertial frame is investigated. A two qubit X-state is considered to be shared between the partners where Alice is in inertial frame and Rob in an accelerated frame. The concurrence is used to quantify the entanglement of the X-state system influenced by time correlated amplitude damping, depolarizing and bit flip channels. It is seen that amplitude damping and bit flip channels heavily influence the entanglement of the system as compared to the depolarizing channel. It is found possib…
We study the performance of simple quantum error correcting codes with respect to correlated noise errors characterized by a finite correlation strength. Specifically, we consider bit flip (phase flip) noisy quantum memory channels and use repetition and noiseless quantum codes. We characterize the performance of the codes by means of the entanglement fidelity as function of the error probability and degree of memory. Finally, comparing the entanglement fidelities of repetition and noiseless quantum codes, we find a threshold for the correlation strength that allows to select the code with bet…
Based on a scheme that produces an entanglement between the spin and the path variables of a single spin-1/2 particle (qubit) using a beam-splitter and a spin-flipper, we formulate a procedure for transferring this intraparticle hybrid entanglement to an interparticle entanglement between the spin variables of two other spatially separated spin-1/2 particles which never interact with each other during the entire process. This procedure of entanglement swapping is accomplished by a Mach-Zehnder setup in conjunction with the Stern-Gerlach measuring device, using suitable unitary operations. The …
The correlation dynamics is investigated for various bi-partitions of a composite system consisting of two qubits, and two independent and non-identical noisy environments. The two qubits have no direct interaction with each other and locally interact with their environments. Classical and quantum correlations including entanglement are initially prepared only between the two qubits. We find that, contrary to the identical noisy environment case, the entanglement and quantum correlation transfer directions can be controlled by combining different noisy environments. The amplitude damping envir…
Investigating translationally invariant qudit spin chains with a low local dimension, we ask what is the best possible tradeoff between the scaling of the entanglement entropy of a large block and the inverse-polynomial scaling of the spectral gap. Restricting ourselves to Hamiltonians with a "rewriting" interaction, we find the pair-flip model, a family of spin chains with nearest neighbor, translationally invariant, frustration-free interactions, with a very entangled ground state and an inverse-polynomial spectral gap. For a ground state in a particular invariant subspace, the entanglement …
The central question in quantum multi-prover interactive proof systems is whether or not entanglement shared between provers affects the verification power of the proof system. We study for the first time positive aspects of prior entanglement and show that entanglement is useful even for honest provers. We show how to use shared entanglement to parallelize any multi-prover quantum interactive proof system to a one-round system with perfect completeness, with one extra prover. Alternatively, we can also parallelize to a three-turn system with the same number of provers, where the verifier only…
Quantum speed limit time (QSLT) can be used to characterize the intrinsic minimal time interval for a quantum system evolving from an initial state to a target state. We investigate the QSLT of the open system in Schwarzschild space-time. We show that, in some typical noisy channels, the Hawking effect can be beneficial to the evolution of the system. For an initial entangled state, the evolution speed of the system can be enhanced in the depolarizing, bit flip, and bit-phase flip channels as the Hawking temperature increases, which are in sharp contrast to the phase flip channel. Moreover, the…
We address the system-reservoir dynamics of classical and quantum correlations in the decoherence phenomenon, regarding a two qubit composite system interacting with two independent environments. The most common noise channels (amplitude damping, phase damping, bit flip, bit-phase flip, and phase flip) was studied. By analytical and numerical analysis we found that, contrary to what is usually stated in the literature, decoherence may occurs without entanglement between the system and the environment. We also found that, in some cases, the bipartite quantum correlation initially presented in t…
We study the performance of simple error correcting and error avoiding quantum codes together with their concatenation for correlated noise models. Specifically, we consider two error models: i) a bit-flip (phase-flip) noisy Markovian memory channel (model I); ii) a memory channel defined as a memory degree dependent linear combination of memoryless channels with Kraus decompositions expressed solely in terms of tensor products of X-Pauli (Z-Pauli) operators (model II). The performance of both the three-qubit bit flip (phase flip) and the error avoiding codes suitable for the considered error …
We find a regularized formula for the entanglement-assisted (EA) capacity region for quantum multiple access channels (QMAC). We illustrate the capacity region calculation with the example of the collective phase-flip channel which admits a single-letter characterization. On the way, we provide a first-principles proof of the EA coding theorem based on a packing argument. We observe that the Holevo-Schumacher-Westmoreland theorem may be obtained from a modification of our EA protocol. We remark on the existence of a family hierarchy of protocols for multiparty scenarios with a single receiver,…
In this work, there are two parties, Alice on Earth and Bob on the satellite, which initially share an entangled state, and some open problems, which emerge during quantum steering that Alice remotely steers Bob, are investigated. Our analytical results indicate that all entangled pure states and maximally entangled evolution states (EESs) are steerable, and not every entangled evolution state is steerable and some steerable states are only locally correlated. Besides, quantum steering from Alice to Bob experiences a "sudden death" with increasing decoherence strength. However, shortly after t…
Entanglement or entanglement generating interactions permit to achieve the maximum allowed speed in the dynamical evolution of a composite system, when the energy resources are distributed among subsystems. The cases of pre-existing entanglement and of entanglement-building interactions are separately addressed. The role of classical correlations is also discussed.
We analyze the entanglement distribution and the two-qubit residual entanglement in multipartite systems. For a composite system consisting of two cavities interacting with independent reservoirs, it is revealed that the entanglement evolution is restricted by an entanglement monogamy relation derived here. Moreover, it is found that the initial cavity-cavity entanglement evolves completely to the genuine four-partite cavities-reservoirs entanglement in the time interval between the sudden death of cavity-cavity entanglement and the birth of reservoir-reservoir entanglement. In addition, we al…
We determine the entanglement capability of self-inverse Hamiltonian evolution, which reduces to the known result for Ising Hamiltonian, and identify optimal input states for yielding the maximal entanglement rate. We introduce the concept of the operator entanglement rate, and find that the maximal operator entanglement rate gives a lower bound on the entanglement capability of a general Hamiltonian.
We analyze the entanglement evolution of two cavity photons being affected by the dissipation of two individual reservoirs. Under an arbitrary local unitary operation on the initial state, it is shown that there is only one parameter which changes the entanglement dynamics. For the bipartite subsystems, we show that the entanglement of the cavity photons is correlated with that of the reservoirs, although the local operation can delay the time at which the photon entanglement disappears and advance the time at which the reservoir entanglement appears. Furthermore, via a new defined four-qubit …
We investigate the time evolution of the entanglement of assistance when one subsystem undergoes the action of local noisy channels. A general factorization law is presented for the evolution equation of entanglement of assistance. Our results demonstrate that the dynamics of the entanglement of assistance is determined by the action of a noisy channel on the pure maximally entangled state, in which the entanglement reduction turns out to be universal for all quantum states entering the channel. This single quantity will make it easy to characterize the entanglement dynamics of entanglement of…
A qubit (a spin-1/2 particle) prepared in the up state is scattered by local spin-flipping potentials produced by the two target qubits (two fixed spins), both prepared in the down state, to generate an entangled state in the latter when the former is found in the down state after scattering. The scattering process is analyzed in three dimensions, both to lowest order and in full order in perturbation, with an appropriate renormalization for the latter. The entanglement is evaluated in terms of the concurrence as a function of the incident and scattering angles, the size of the incident wave p…
The notion of entanglement can be naturally extended from quantum-states to the level of general quantum evolutions. This is achieved by considering multi-partite unitary transformations as elements of a multi-partite Hilbert space and then extended to general quantum operations. We show some connection between this entanglement and the entangling capabilities of the quantum evolution.
We present a high-efficiency multipartite entanglement purification protocol (MEPP) for electron-spin systems in a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state based on their spins and their charges. Our MEPP contains two parts. The first part is our normal MEPP with which the parties can obtain a high-fidelity N-electron ensemble directly, similar to the MEPP with controlled-not gates. The second one is our recycling MEPP with entanglement link from N'-electron subsystems (2 < N' < N). It is interesting to show that the N'-electron subsystems can be obtained efficiently by measuring the electrons with p…
Symmetries of the initial state of a quantum system and the quantum channels, which simultaneously affect parts of the system, can significantly simplify the description of the entanglement evolution. Using concurrence as the entanglement measure, we study the entanglement evolution of few qubit systems, when each of the qubits is affected by a local channel independently of the others. We show that, for low-rank density matrices of the final quantum state, such complex entanglement dynamics can be completely described by a combination of independent factors representing the evolution of entan…
We investigate the average bipartite entanglement, over all possible divisions of a multipartite system, as a useful measure of multipartite entanglement. We expose a connection between such measures and quantum-error-correcting codes by deriving a formula relating the weight distribution of the code to the average entanglement of encoded states. Multipartite entangling power of quantum evolutions is also investigated.
A complete analysis on the generation of spin entanglement from NRQED is presented. The results of entanglement are obtained with relativistic correction to the leading order of (v/c)^2. It is shown that to this order the degree of entanglement of a singlet state does not change under time evolution whereas the triplet state can change.
Evolution of entanglement with the proceeding of quantum algorithms affects the outcome of the algorithm. Particularly, the performance of Grover's search algorithm gets worsened if the initial state of the algorithm is an entangled one. The success probability of search can be seen as an operational measure of entanglement. This paper demonstrates an entanglement measure based on the performance of Grover's search algorithm for three and five qubit systems. We also show that although the overall pattern shows growth of entanglement, its rise to a maximum and then consequent decay, the presenc…
