Notions of robust and "classical" states for an open quantum system are introduced and discussed in the framework of the isometric-sweeping decomposition of trace class operators. Using the predictability sieve proposed by Zurek, ``quasi-classical'' states are defined. A number of examples illustrating how the ``quasi-classical'' states correspond to classical points in phase space connected with the measuring apparatus are presented.
The investigation of quantum-classical correspondence may lead to gain a deeper understanding of the classical limit of quantum theory. We develop a quantum formalism on the basis of a linear-invariant theorem, which gives an exact quantum-classical correspondence for damped oscillatory systems that are perturbed by an arbitrary force. We study how the classical Hamilton's principal and characteristic functions are generated from the solutions of the quantum Hamilton-Jacobi equation. While in the classically forbidden regions these quantum quantities directly tend to the classical ones, this is not the case in the allowed regions. There, the limit is reached only if the quantum fluctuations are eliminated by means of coarse-graining averages. Analogously, the classical Hamilton-Jacobi scheme bringing to the motion's equations arises from a similar formal quantum procedure.
Quantum sensing, using quantum properties of sensors, can enhance resolution, precision, and sensitivity of imaging, spectroscopy, and detection. An intriguing question is: Can the quantum nature (quantumness) of sensors and targets be exploited to enable schemes that are not possible for classical probes or classical targets? We examine a case study where classical evolution emerges when observing a quantum evolution. By using a single-mode quantum Kerr evolution interrupted by measurement of the double-homodyne kind (projecting the evolved field state into classical-like coherent states or quantum squeezed states), we show that irrespective of whether the measurement is classical or quantum there is no quantum Zeno effect and the evolution turns out to be classical.

Instead of producing quantum languages that are fit for current quantum computers, we build a language from standard classical assembler and augment it with quantum capabilities so that quantum algorithms become a subset of it. This paves the way for the development of hybrid algorithms directly from classical software, which is not feasible on today's hardware but might inspire future quantum programmers.
