We give an alternate proof of one of the inequalities proved recently for martingales (=sums of martingale differences) in a non-commutative $L_p$-space, with $1<p<\infty$, by Q. Xu and the author. This new approach is restricted to $p$ an even integer, but it yields a constant which is $O(p)$ when $p\to \infty$ and it applies to a much more general kind of sums which we call $p$-orthogonal.

Non-commutative A-G mean inequality

In this paper we consider non-commutative analogue for the arithmeticgeometric mean inequality $$a^{r}b^{1-r}+(r-1)b\geq ra$$ for two positive numbers $a,b$ and $r> 1$. We show that under some assumptions the non-commutative analogue for $a^{r}b^{1-r}$ which satisfies this inequality is unique and equal to $r$-mean. The case $0<r<1$ is also considered. In particular, we give a new characterization of the geometric mean.

Non-commutative Callebaut inequality

We present an operator version of the Callebaut inequality involving the interpolation paths and apply it to the weighted operator geometric means. We also establish a matrix version of the Callebaut inequality and as a consequence obtain an inequality including the Hadamard product of matrices.

Bohr's Inequality for Non-commutative Hardy Spaces

In this paper, we extend the classical Bohr's inequality to the setting of the non-commutative Hardy space $H^1$ associated with a semifinite von Neumann algebra. As a consequence, we obtain Bohr's inequality for operators in the von Neumann-Schatten class $\cl C_1$ and square matrices of any finite order. Interestingly, we establish that the optimal bound for $r$ in the above mentioned Bohr's inequality concerning von Neumann-Shcatten class is 1/3 whereas it is 1/2 in the case of $2\times 2$ matrices and reduces to $\sqrt{2}-1$ for the case of $3\times 3$ matrices. Multi-indexed p-orthogonal sums in non-commutative Lebesgue spaces

In this paper we extend a recent Pisier's inequality for p-orthogonal sums in non-commutative Lebesgue spaces. To that purpose, we generalize the notion of p-orthogonality to the class of multi-indexed families of operators. This kind of families appear naturally in certain non-commutative Khintchine type inequalities associated with free groups. Other p-orthogonal families are given by the homogeneous operator-valued polynomials in the Rademacher variables or the multi-indexed martingale difference sequences. As in Pisier's result, our tools are mainly combinatorial.

Doob's inequality for non-commutative martingales

Let $1\le p<\8$ and $(x_n)_{\nen}$ be a sequence of positive elements in a non-commutative $L_p$ space and $(E_n)_{\nen}$ be an increasing sequence of conditional expectations, then the $L_p$ norm of \sum_n E_n(x_n) can be estimated by c_p times the $L_p$ norm of \sum_n x_n. This inequality is due to Burkholder, Davis and Gundy in the commutative case. By duality, we obtain a version of Doob's maximal inequality for $1<p\le \8$.

Chromatic numbers and a Lovász type inequality for non-commutative graphs

Non-commutative graph theory is an operator space generalization of graph theory. Well known graph parameters such as the independence number and Lovász theta function were first generalized to this setting by Duan, Severini, and Winter. We prove a weak-type (1,1) inequality for square functions of non-commutative martingales that are simultaneously bounded in $L^2$ and $L^1$. Non-commutative Hardy inequalities

We extend Hardy's inequality from sequences of non-negative numbers to sequences of positive semi-definite operators if the parameter p satisfies 1<p<=2, and to operators under a trace for arbitrary p>1. Remarks on the non-commutative Khintchine inequalities for $0<p<2$

We show that the validity of the non-commutative Khintchine inequality for some $q$ with $1<q<2$ implies its validity (with another constant) for all $1\le p<q$. Sum of Free Variables in Fully Symmetric Spaces

We give a method to obtain, from Voiculescu's inequality, norm estimates for sums of free variables with amalgamation in general fully symmetric spaces. We use these estimates to interpolate the Burkholder inequalities for non commutative martingales. The method is also applicable to other similar settings. In that spirit, we improve known results on the non commutative Johnson-Schechtman inequalities and recover Khintchine inequalities associated to free groups.

Rényi divergences as weighted non-commutative vector valued $L_p$-spaces

We show that Araki and Masuda's weighted non-commutative vector valued $L_p$-spaces [Araki \& Masuda, Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci., 18:339 (1982)] correspond to an algebraic generalization of the sandwiched Rényi divergences with parameter $α= \frac{p}{2}$.
