Given a parametrised weight function $ω(x,μ)$ such that the quotients of its consecutive moments are Möbius maps, it is possible to express the underlying biorthogonal polynomials in a closed form \cite{IN2}. In the present paper we address ourselves to two related issues. Firstly, we demonstrate that, subject to additional assumptions, every such $ω$ obeys (in $x$) a linear differential equation whose solution is a generalized hypergeometric function. Secondly, using a generalization of standard divided differences, we present a new explicit representation of the underlying orthogonal polynomials.
We consider sequences of biorthogonal polynomials with respect to a Cauchy type convolution kernel and give the weak and ratio asymptotic of the corresponding sequences of biorthogonal polynomials. The construction is intimately related with a mixed type Hermite-Padé approximation problem whose asymptotic properties is also revealed.
In this work the interplay between matrix biorthogonal polynomials with respect to a matrix of linear functionals, the $k$-th associated matrix polynomials and the second kind matrix functions, is studied in terms of quasideterminants. A sort of Poincaré's theorem for the ratio of two consecutive matrix functions solutions of a linear difference equation is also presented. Some new formulas connecting these families of matrix functions are given.
A system of biorthogonal polynomials with respect to a complex valued measure supported on the unit circle is considered and all the terms with bounds are explicitly given for the remainder of an asymptotic formula given by R. Askey for this system. An electrostatic interpretation for the zeros of a class of para-orthogonal polynomials associated with the biorthogonal system is also considered.
It turned out that the partial sums $g_n(z) = \sum_{k=0}^n \frac{(a_1)_k ... (a_p)_k}{(b_1)_k ... (b_q)_k} \frac{z^k}{k!}$, of the generalized hypergeometric series ${}_p F_q(a_1,...,a_p; b_1,...,b_q;z)$, with parameters $a_j,b_l\in\mathbb{C}\backslash\{ 0,-1,-2,... \}$, are Sobolev orthogonal polynomials. The corresponding monic polynomials $G_n(z)$ are polynomials of $R_I$ type, and therefore they are related to biorthogonal rational functions. Polynomials $g_n$ possess a differential equation (in $z$), and a recurrence relation (in $n$). We study integral representations for $g_n$, and some…
We consider matrix orthogonal polynomials related to Jacobi type matrices of weights that can be defined in terms of a given matrix Pearson equation. Stating a Riemann-Hilbert problem we can derive first and second order differential relations that these matrix orthogonal polynomials and the second kind functions associated to them verify. For the corresponding matrix recurrence coefficients, non-Abelian extensions of a family of discrete Painlevé d-PIV equations are obtained for the three term recurrence relation coefficients.
We give the strong asymptotic of Cauchy biorthogonal polynomials under the assumption that the defining measures are supported on non intersecting intervals of the real line and satisfy Szegő's condition. The biorthogonal polynomials are connected with certain mixed type Hermite-Padé polynomials, which verify full orthogonality relations with respect to some varying measures. Thus, the strong asymptotic of orthogonal polynomials with respect to varying measures plays a key role in the study.
In this work is presented a study on matrix biorthogonal polynomials sequences that satisfy a nonsymmetric recurrence relation with unbounded coefficients. The ratio asymptotic for this family of matrix biorthogonal polynomials is derived in quite general assumptions. It is considered some illustrative examples.
A formulation is given for the spectral transformation of the generalized eigenvalue problem through the decomposition of the second-order differential operators. This allows us to construct some Laurent biorthogonal polynomial systems with gaps in the degree of the polynomial sequence. These correspond to an exceptional-type extension of the orthogonal polynomials, as an extension of the Laurent biorthogonal polynomials. Specifically, we construct the exceptional extension of the Hendriksen-van Rossum polynomials, which are biorthogonal analogs of the classical orthogonal polynomials. Similar…
A finite family of $R_I$ polynomials is introduced and studied. It consists in a set of polynomials of $_{3}F_{2}$ form whose biorthogonality to an ensemble of rational functions is spelled out. These polynomials are shown to satisfy two generalized eigenvalue problems: in addition to their recurrence relation of $R_I$ type, they are also found to obey a difference equation. Underscoring this bispectrality is a triplet of operators with tridiagonal actions.
This paper is a continuation of the recent paper "CMV biorthogonal Laurent polynomials: Christoffel formulas for Christoffel and Geronimus transformations" by the same authors. The behavior of quasidefinite sesquilinear forms for Laurent polynomials in the complex plane, characterized by bivariate linear functionals, and corresponding CMV biorthogonal Laurent polynomial families --including Sobolev and discrete Sobolev orthogonalities--- under two type of Geronimus--Uvarov transformations is studied. Either the linear functionals are multiplied by a Laurent polynomial and divided by the comple…
The Gauss-Borel or $LU$ factorization of Gram matrices of bilinear forms is the pivotal element in the discussion of the theory of biorthogonal polynomials. The construction of biorthogonal families of polynomials and its second kind functions, of the spectral matrices modeling the multiplication by the independent variable $x$, the Christoffel-Darboux kernel and its projection properties, are discussed from this point of view. Then, the Hankel case is presented and different properties, specific of this case, as the three terms relations, Heine formulas, Gauss quadrature and the Christoffel-D…
Quasidefinite sesquilinear forms for Laurent polynomials in the complex plane and corresponding CMV biorthogonal Laurent polynomial families are studied. Bivariate linear functionals encompass large families of orthogonalities like Sobolev and discrete Sobolev types. Two possible Christoffel transformations of these linear functionals are discussed. Either the linear functionals are multiplied by a Laurent polynomial, or are multiplied by the complex conjugate of a Laurent polynomial. For the Geronimus transformation, the linear functional is perturbed in two possible manners as well, by a div…
In this paper the Riemann-Hilbert problem, with jump supported on a appropriate curve on the complex plane with a finite endpoint at the origin, is used for the study of corresponding matrix biorthogonal polynomials associated with Laguerre type matrices of weights ---which are constructed in terms of a given matrix Pearson equation. First and second order differential systems for the fundamental matrix, solution of the mentioned Riemann-Hilbert problem are derived. An explicit and general example is presented to illustrate the theoretical results of the work. Related matrix eigenvalue problem…
Matrix Szego biorthogonal polynomials for quasi-definite matrices of measures are studied. For matrices of Holder weights a Riemann-Hilbert problem is uniquely solved in terms of the matrix Szego polynomials and its Cauchy transforms. The Riemann-Hilbert problem is given as an appropriate framework for the discussion of the Szego matrix and the associated Szego recursion relations for the matrix orthogonal polynomials and its Cauchy transforms. Pearson type differential systems characterizing the matrix of weights are studied. These are linear systems of ordinary differential equations which a…
The biorthogonal rational functions of the ${_3}F_2$ type on the uniform grid provide the simplest example of rational functions with bispectrality properties that are similar to those of classical orthogonal polynomials. These properties are described by three difference operators $X,Y,Z$ which are tridiagonal with respect to three distinct bases of the relevant finite-dimensional space. The pairwise commutators of the operators $X,Y,Z$ generate a quadratic algebra which is akin to the algebras of Askey-Wilson type attached to hypergeometric polynomials.
The Muttalib-Borodin biorthogonal ensemble is a probability density function for $n$ particles on the positive real line that depends on a parameter $θ$ and an external field $V$. For $θ=\frac{1}{2}$ we find the large $n$ behavior of the associated correlation kernel with only few restrictions on $V$. The idea is to relate the ensemble to a type II multiple orthogonal polynomial ensemble that can in turn be related to a $3\times 3$ Riemann-Hilbert problem which we then solve with the Deift-Zhou steepest descent method. The main ingredient is the construction of the local parametrix at the orig…
A second addition formula for continuous q-ultraspherical polynomials
本文给出了作者在“Askey-Wilson polynomials as zonal spherical functions on the SU(2)量子群“(SIAM J. Math. Anal. 24(1993),795-813。
In this paper we use the Riemann-Hilbert problem, with jumps supported on appropriate curves in the complex plane, for matrix biorthogonal polynomials and apply it to find Sylvester systems of differential equations for the orthogonal polynomials and its second kind functions as well. For this aim, Sylvester type differential Pearson equations for the matrix of weights are shown to be instrumental. Several applications are given, in order of increasing complexity. First, a general discussion of non-Abelian Hermite biorthogonal polynomials in the real line, understood as those whose matrix of w…
The paper examines rational Darboux transformations (RDTs) of the Jacobi equation written in the canonical form, with emphasis on the Sturm-Liouville problems (SLPs) solved under the Dirichlet boundary conditions (DBCs) at the ends of the infinite interval [1, inf). To be able to extend the analysis to the Darboux-Crum net of rational SL equations (SLEs) solved under the cited DBCs in terms of multi-indexed orthogonal exceptional Romanovski-Jacobi (XR-Jacobi) polynomials, we consider only seed functions which represent principal Frobenius solutions (PFSs) near one of the singular endpoints. . …
In this paper transformations for matrix orthogonal polynomials in the real line are studied. The orthogonality is understood in a broad sense, and is given in terms of a nondegenerate continuous sesquilinear form, which in turn is determined by a quasidefinite matrix of bivariate generalized functions with a well defined support. The discussion of the orthogonality for such a sesquilinear form includes, among others, matrix Hankel cases with linear functionals, general matrix Sobolev orthogonality and discrete orthogonal polynomials with an infinite support. The first transformation considere…
We study two families of orthogonal polynomials with respect to the weight function $w(t)(t^2-\|x\|^2)^{μ-\frac12}$, $μ> -\frac 12$, on the cone $\{(x,t): \|x\| \le t, \, x \in \mathbb{R}^d, t >0\}$ in $\mathbb{R}^{d+1}$. The first family consists of monomial polynomials $\mathsf{V}_{\mathbf{k},n}(x,t) = t^{n-|\mathbf{k}|} x^\mathbf{k} + \cdots$ for $\mathbf{k} \in \mathbb{N}_0^d$ with $|\mathbf{k}| \le n$, which has the least $L^2$ norm among all polynomials of the form $t^{n-|\mathbf{k}|} x^\mathbf{k} + \mathsf{P}$ with $°\mathsf{P} \le n-1$, and we will provide an explicit construction for …

In this paper, we consider Muttalib-Borodin ensemble of Laguerre type, a determinantal point process over $[0,\infty)$ which depends on the varying weights $x^αe^{-nV(x)}$, $α>-1$, and a parameter $θ$. For $θ$ being a positive integer, we derive asymptotics of the associated biorthogonal polynomials near the origin for a large class of potential functions $V$ as $n\to \infty$. This further allows us to establish the hard edge scaling limit of the correlation kernel, which is previously only known in the special cases and conjectured to be universal. Our proof is based on the Deift/Zhou nonline…
An algebra denoted $m\mathfrak{H}$ with three generators is introduced and shown to admit embeddings of the Hahn algebra and the rational Hahn algebra. It has a real version of the deformed Jordan plane as a subalgebra whose connection with Hahn polynomials is established. Representation bases corresponding to eigenvalue or generalized eigenvalue problems involving the generators are considered. Overlaps between these bases are shown to be bispectral orthogonal polynomials or biorthogonal rational functions thereby providing a unified description of these functions based on $m\mathfrak{H}$. Mo…
We consider mixed type multiple orthogonal polynomials associated with a system of weight functions consisting of two vectors. One vector is defined in terms of scaled modified Bessel function of the first kind $I_μ$ and $I_{μ+1}$, the other vector is defined in terms of scaled modified Bessel function of the second kind $K_ν$ and $K_{ν+1}$. We show that the corresponding mixed type multiple orthogonal polynomials exist. For the special case that each multi-index is on or close to the diagonal, basic properties of the polynomials and their linear forms are investigated, which include explicit …
