We study the relationships between Gateaux, weak Hadamard and Frechet differentiability and their bornologies for Lipschitz and for convex functions. In particular, Frechet and weak Hadamard differentiabily coincide for all Lipschitz functions if and only if the space is reflexive (an earlier paper of the first two authors shows that these two notions of differentiability coincide for continuous convex functions if and only if the space does not contain a copy of $\ell_1$). We also examine when Gateaux and weak Hadamard differentiability coincide for continuous convex functions. For instance, spaces with the Dunford-Pettis (Schur) property can be characterized by the coincidence of Gateaux and weak Hadamard (Frechet) differentiabilty for dual norms.
Ordered locally convex spaces is an important classes of spaces in the theory of ordered topological vector spaces just as locally convex spaces in the theory of topological vector spaces. Some special classes of ordered locally convex spaces such as order infrabarrelled spaces have been studied. The purpose of this paper is to initiate the study of order bornological spaces and their fundamental properties. In addition, order ultrabornological spaces is also investigated as an important special class of order bornological spaces.
In this work we provide a characterization of distinct type of (linear and non-linear) maps between Banach spaces in terms of the differentiability of certain class of Lipschitz functions. Our results are stated in an abstract bornological and non-linear framework. Restricted to the linear case, we can apply our results to compact, weakly-compact, limited and completely continuous linear operators. Moreover, our results yield a characterization of Gelfand-Phillips spaces and recover some known result of Schur spaces and reflexive spaces concerning the differentiability of real-valued Lipschitz…
We prove that the Lipschitz-free space over a metric space M is locally almost square whenever M is a length space. Consequently, the Lipschitz-free space is locally almost square if and only if it has the Daugavet property. We also show that a Lipschitz-free space is never almost square.
We construct a Lipschitz function on $\er^{2}$ which is locally convex on the complement of some totally disconnected compact set but not convex. Existence of such function disproves a theorem that appeared in a paper by L. Pasqualini and was also cited by other authors.
The classical Mountain Pass Lemma of Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz has been studied, extended and modified in several directions, notable examples would certainly include the generalization to locally Lipschitz functionals in K.C. Chang, analysis of the structure of the critical set in the mountain pass theorem by Hofer and Pucci-Serrin and Tian, the extension by Ghoussoub-Preiss to closed subsets in a Banach space, and variations found in the recent Peral . In this paper, we utilize the generalized gradient of Clarke and Ekeland's variational principle to generalize the Ghoussoub-Preiss's Theorem in …
We study the global invertibility of non-smooth, locally Lipschitz maps between infinite-dimensional Banach spaces, using a kind of Palais-Smale condition. To this end, we consider the Chang version of the weighted Palais-Smale condition for locally Lipschitz functionals in terms of the Clarke subdifferential, as well as the notion of pseudo-Jacobians in the infinite-dimensional setting, which are the analog of the pseudo-Jacobian matrices defined by Jeyakumar and Luc. Using these notions, we derive our results about existence and uniqueness of solution for nonlinear equations. In particular, …
We prove that the Lipschitz free space over a certain type of discrete metric space has the Radon-Nikodým property. We also show that the Lipschitz free space over a complete, locally compact metric space has the Schur or approximation property whenever the Lipschitz free space over each compact subset also has this property.

We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a difference of convex (DC, for short) functions, defined on a locally convex space, to be Lipschitz continuous. Our criterion relies on the intersections of the "epsilon-subdifferentials of the involved functions.
We develop a holomorphic functional calculus for (multivalued linear) operators on locally convex vector spaces. This includes the case of fractional powers along Lipschitz curves.
For a compact metric space $K$ the space $\Lip(K)$ has the Daugavet property if and only if the norm of every $f \in \Lip(K)$ is attained locally. If $K$ is a subset of an $L_p$-space, $1<p<\infty$, this is equivalent to the convexity of $K$.
We characterize compact metric spaces whose locally flat Lipschitz functions separate points uniformly as exactly those that are purely 1-unrectifiable, resolving a problem of Weaver. We subsequently use this geometric characterization to answer several questions in Lipschitz analysis. Notably, it follows that the Lipschitz-free space $\mathcal{F}(M)$ over a compact metric space $M$ is a dual space if and only if $M$ is purely 1-unrectifiable. Furthermore, we establish a compact determinacy principle for the Radon-Nikodým property (RNP) and deduce that, for any complete metric space $M$, pure …
This paper is concerned with the differential sensitivity analysis of variational inequalities in Banach spaces whose solution operators satisfy a generalized Lipschitz condition. We prove a sufficient criterion for the directional differentiability of the solution map that turns out to be also necessary for elliptic variational inequalities in Hilbert spaces (even in the presence of asymmetric bilinear forms, nonlinear operators and nonconvex functionals). In contrast to classical results, our method of proof does not rely on Attouch's theorem on the characterization of Mosco convergence but …
The present paper is concerned with Lipschitz properties of convex mappings. One considers the general context of mappings defined on an open convex subset $Ω$ of a locally convex space $X$ and taking values in a locally convex space $Y$ ordered by a normal cone. One proves also equi-Lipschitz properties for pointwise bounded families of continuous convex mappings, provided the source space $X$ is barrelled. Some results on Lipschitz properties of continuous convex functions defined on metrizable topological vector spaces are included as well. The paper has a methodological character - its aim…
