Space Propagation of Instabilities in Zakharov Equations

In this paper we study an initial boundary value problem for Zakharov's equations, describing the space propagation of a laser beam entering in a plasma. We prove a strong instability result and prove that the mathematical problem is ill-posed in Sobolev spaces. We also show that it is well posed in spaces of analytic functions. Several consequences for the physical consistency of the model are discussed.

Instabilities in Zakharov Equations for Laser Propagation in a Plasma

F.Linares, G.Ponce, J-C.Saut have proved that a non-fully dispersive Zakharov system arising in the study of Laser-plasma interaction, is locally well posed in the whole space, for fields vanishing at infinity. Here we show that in the periodic case, seen as a model for fields non-vanishing at infinity, the system develops strong instabilities of Hadamard's type, implying that the Cauchy problem is strongly ill-posed.

On the propagation of regularity for solutions of the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation

In this work, we study some special properties of smoothness concerning to the initial value problem associated with the Zakharov-Kuznetsov-(ZK) equation in the $n-$ dimensional setting, $n\geq 2.$ It is known that the solutions of the ZK equation in the $2d$ and $3d$ cases verify special regularity properties. The Transverse Instability of Periodic Waves in Zakharov-Kuznetsov Type Equations

In this paper, we investigate the instability of one-dimensionally stable periodic traveling wave solutions of the generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation to long wavelength transverse perturbations in the generalized Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation in two space dimensions. By deriving appropriate asymptotic expansions of the periodic Evans function, we derive an index which yields sufficient conditions for transverse instabilities to occur. Derivation of the Zakharov equations

This paper continues the study of the validity of the Zakharov model describing Langmuir turbulence. We give an existence theorem for a class of singular quasilinear equations. This theorem is valid for well-prepared initial data. On some regularity properties for the dispersive generalized Benjamin-Ono-Zakharov-Kuznetsov Equation

This work aims to study some smoothness properties concerning the initial value problem associated to the dispersive generalized Benjamin-Ono-Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation. The Structure of Global Attractors for Dissipative Zakharov Systems with Forcing on the Torus

The Zakharov system was originally proposed to study the propagation of Langmuir waves in an ionized plasma. In this paper, motivated by earlier work of the first and third authors, we numerically and analytically investigate the dynamics of the dissipative Zakharov system on the torus in 1 dimension. We find an interesting family of stable periodic orbits and fixed points, and explore bifurcations of those points as we take weaker and weaker dissipation.

Space-time resonances and high-frequency Raman instabilities in the two-fluid Euler-Maxwell system

We show that space-time resonances induce high-frequency Raman instabilities in the two-fluid Euler-Maxwell system describing laser-plasma interactions. We study the transverse spectral stability of the one-dimensional small-amplitude periodic traveling wave solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional Konopelchenko-Dubrovsky (KD) equation.
