This note is an addendum to our earlier work \cite{humi}. In \cite{humi}, we studied a Hamiltonian action for a generalized Calabi-Yau manifold and showed that the Duistermaat-Heckman theorem holds. The purpose of this note is to show that the density function of the Duistermaa-Heckman measure is a piecewise polynomial. We also prove that the localization formula holds.
We apply the Guillemin-Lerman-Sternberg theorem to reprove a formula of Heckman for the Duistermaat-Heckman measure associated to the coadjoint action of $T$, a maximal torus of a compact semisimple Lie group $G$, on a regular coadjoint $G$-orbit in the dual space of the Lie algebra of $G$. This formula is, in an appropriate sense, a limiting case of the Kostant multiplicity formula.
We introduce equivariant Liouville forms and Duistermaat-Heckman distributions for Hamiltonian group actions with group valued moment maps. The theory is illustrated by applications to moduli spaces of flat connections on 2-manifolds.
Karshon constructed the first counterexample to the log-concavity conjecture for the Duistermaat-Heckman measure: a Hamiltonian six manifold whose fixed points set is the disjoint union of two copies of $T^4$. In this article, for any closed symplectic four manifold $N$ with $b+$ greater than 1, we show that there is a Hamiltonian six manifold $M$ such that its fixed points set is the disjoint union of two copies of $N$ and such that its Duistermaat-Heckman function is not log-concave. On the other hand, we prove that if there is a torus action of complexity two such that all the symplectic re…
Following Boalch-Yamakawa and Meinrenken, we consider a certain class of moduli spaces on bordered surfaces from a quasi-Hamiltonian perspective. For a given Lie group $G$, these character varieties parametrize flat $G$-connections on "twisted" local systems, in the sense that the transition functions take values in $G\rtimes\mathrm{Aut}(G)$. After reviewing the necessary tools to discuss twisted quasi-Hamiltonian manifolds, we construct a Duistermaat-Heckman (DH) measure on $G$ that is invariant under the twisted conjugation action $g\mapsto hgκ(h^{-1})$ for $κ\in\mathrm{Aut}(G)$, and charact…
The purpose of the present paper is to set up a formalism inspired from non-Archimedean geometry to study K-stability. We first provide a detailed analysis of Duistermaat-Heckman measures in the context of test configurations, characterizing in particular the trivial case. For any normal polarized variety (or, more generally, polarized pair in the sense of the Minimal Model Program), we introduce and study the non-Archimedean analogues of certain classical functionals in Kähler geometry. These functionals are defined on the space of test configurations, and the Donaldson-Futaki invariant is in…
We reconsider the problem of calculating a general spectral correlation function containing an arbitrary number of products and ratios of characteristic polynomials for a N x N random matrix taken from the Gaussian Unitary Ensemble (GUE). Deviating from the standard "supersymmetry" approach, we integrate out Grassmann variables at the early stage and circumvent the use of the Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation in the "bosonic" sector. The method, suggested recently by one of us, is shown to be capable of calculation when reinforced with a generalization of the Itzykson-Zuber integral to a non…
In this article, we will discuss a localization formulas of equivariant cohomology about two Killing vector fields on the set of zero points ${\rm{Zero}}(X_{M}-\sqrt{-1}Y_{M})=\{x\in M \mid |Y_{M}(x)|=|X_{M}(x)|=0 \}.$ As application, we use it to get formulas about characteristic numbers and to get a Duistermaat-Heckman type formula on symplectic manifold.
A generalized Calabi-Yau structure is a geometrical structure on a manifold which generalizes both the concept of the Calabi-Yau structure and that of the symplectic one. In view of a result of Lin and Tolman in generalized complex cases, we introduce in this paper the notion of a generalized moment map for a compact Lie group action on a generalized Calabi-Yau manifold and construct a reduced generalized Calabi-Yau structure on the reduced space. As an application, we show some relationship between generalized moment maps and the Bergman kernels, and prove the Duistermaat-Heckman formula for …
We announce the following result and give several applications: A Hamiltonian $T$-space (for $T$ a torus) with isolated fixed points is cobordant to a disjoint union of weighted projective spaces which are constructed from its fixed point data. The applications concern the Duistermaat-Heckman formula, the topological Jeffrey-Kirwan localization theorem, and geometric quantization.
We show a natural relation between the monodromy formula for focus-focus singularities of integrable Hamiltonian systems and a formula of Duistermaat-Heckman, and extend the main results of our previous note on focus-focus singularities ($\bbS^1$-action, monodromy, and topological classification) to the degenerate case. We also consider the non-Hamiltonian case, local normal forms, etc.
Let M be a Kaehler manifold with a free, holomorphic and Hamiltonian action of the standard n-torus T. We give a simple, explicit and canonical formula for the Kaehler potential on the Kaehler reduction of M. As a consequence we can derive improvements of several classical results known for more general Hamiltonian reductions. Among these are a forms-level proof of the Duistermaat-Heckman theorem; an elementary proof of Atiyah's proof of the convexity of the moment image of a complexified T-orbit; another formula due to Biquard-Gauduchon for the Kaehler potential; and a formula in terms of mom…
We prove a localization formula for group-valued equivariant de Rham cohomology of a compact G-manifold. This formula is a non-trivial generalization of the localization formula of Berline-Vergne and Atiyah-Bott for the usual equivariant de Rham cohomology. As an application, we obtain a version of the Duistermaat-Heckman formula for Hamiltonian spaces with group-valued moment maps.
We define a moment map associated to a smooth torus action on a smooth manifold, without a two-form. We define cobordisms of such structures, allowing non compact manifolds as long as the moment maps are proper. We prove that a compact manifold with a torus action and a moment map is cobordant to the disjoint union of the normal bundles of the connected components of the fixed points set. We use this to give simple new proofs of two formulas: Guillemin's topological version of the abelian Jeffrey-Kirwan localization, and the Guillemin-Lerman-Sternberg formula for the Duistermaat-Heckman measur…
Let M be a compact, connected symplectic 2n-dimensional manifold on which an(n-2)-dimensional torus T acts effectively and Hamiltonianly. Under the assumption that there is an effective complementary 2-torus acting on M with symplectic orbits, we show that the Duistermaat-Heckman measure of the T-action is log-concave. This verifies the logarithmic concavity conjecture for a class of inequivalent T-actions. Then we use this conjecture to prove the following: if there is an effective symplectic action of an (n-2)-dimensional torus T on a compact, connected symplectic 2n-dimensional manifold tha…
On a 3-manifold bounding a compact 4-manifold, let a conformal structure be induced from a complete Einstein metric which conformally compactifies to a Kähler metric. Formulas are derived for the eta invariant of this conformal structure under additional assumptions. One such assumption is that the Kähler metric admits a special Kähler-Ricci potential in the sense defined by Derdzinski and Maschler. Another is that the Kähler metric is part of an ambitoric structure, in the sense defined by Apostolov, Calderbank and Gauduchon, as well as a toric one. The formulas are derived using the Duisterm…
Let G be a torus and M a G-Hamiltonian manifold with Kostant line bundle L and proper moment map. Let P be the weight lattice of G. We consider a parameter k and the multiplicity $m(λ,k)$ of the quantized representation associated to M and the k-th power of L . We prove that the weighted sum $\sum m(λ,k) f(λ/k)$ of the value of a test function f on points of the lattice $P/k$ has an asymptotic development in terms of the twisted Duistermaat-Heckman distributions associated to the graded Todd class of M. When M is compact, and f polynomial, the asymptotic series is finite and exact.
It has been shown recently by Kapustin and Tomasiello that the mathematical notion of Hamiltonian actions on twisted generalized Kähler manifolds is in perfect agreement with the physical notion of general $(2,2)$ gauged sigma models with three-form fluxes. In this article, we study the twisted equivariant cohomology theory of Hamiltonian actions on $H$-twisted generalized complex manifolds. If the manifold satisfies the $\bar{\partial}\partial$-lemma, we establish the equivariant formality theorem. If in addition, the manifold satisfies the generalized Kähler condition, we prove the Kirwan in…
Let $Q$ be a differential operator of order $\leq 1$ on a complex metric vector bundle $\mathscr{E}\to \mathscr{M}$ with metric connection $\nabla$ over a possibly noncompact Riemannian manifold $\mathscr{M}$. Under very mild regularity assumptions on $Q$ that guarantee that $\nabla^{\dagger}\nabla/2+Q$ generates a holomorphic semigroup $\mathrm{e}^{-zH^{\nabla}_{Q}}$ in $Γ_{L^2}(\mathscr{M},\mathscr{E})$ (where $z$ runs through a complex sector which contains $[0,\infty)$), we prove an explicit Feynman-Kac type formula for $\mathrm{e}^{-tH^{\nabla}_{Q}}$, $t>0$, generalizing the standard self…
