We prove a localization formula for group-valued equivariant de Rham cohomology of a compact G-manifold. This formula is a non-trivial generalization of the localization formula of Berline-Vergne and Atiyah-Bott for the usual equivariant de Rham cohomology. As an application, we obtain a version of the Duistermaat-Heckman formula for Hamiltonian spaces with group-valued moment maps.
We prove an analogue of the Atiyah-Bott-Berline-Vergne localization formula in the setting of equivariant basic cohomology of $K$-contact manifolds. As a consequence, we deduce analogues of Witten's nonabelian localization and the Jeffrey-Kirwan residue formula, which relate equivariant basic integrals on a contact manifold $M$ to basic integrals on the contact quotient $M_0 := μ^{-1}(0)/G$, where $μ$ denotes the contact moment map for the action of a torus $G$. In the special case that $M \to N$ is an equivariant Boothby-Wang fibration, our formulae reduce to the usual ones for the symplectic…
In this paper, we obtain a localization formula in differential K-theory for $S^1$-action. Then by combining an extension of Goette's result on the comparison of two types of equivariant $η$-invariants, we establish a version of localization formula for equivariant $η$-invariants. An important step of our approach is to construct a pre-$λ$-ring structure in differential K-theory which is interesting in its own right.
Atiyah's classical work on circular symmetry and stationary phase shows how the $\hat{A}$-genus is obtained by formally applying the equivariant cohomology localization formula to the loop space of a simply connected spin manifold. The same technique, applied to a suitable ''antiholomorphic sector'' in the $\mathbb{C}/Λ$-equivariant cohomology of the conformal double loop space $\mathrm{Maps}(\mathbb{C}/Λ,X)$ of a rationally string manifold $X$ produces the Witten genus of $X$. This can be seen as an equivariant localization counterpart to Berwick-Evans supersymmetric localization derivation o…
Equivariant localization techniques give a rigorous interpretation of the Witten genus as an integral over the double loop space. This provides a geometric explanation for its modularity properties. It also reveals an interplay between the geometry of double loop spaces and complex analytic elliptic cohomology. In particular, we identify a candidate target for the elliptic Bismut-Chern character.
