In this paper we describe logarithmic moduli spaces of pairs (S,D) consisting of minimal surfaces S of class VII with positive second Betti number b_2 together with reduced divisors D of b_2 rational curves. The special case of Enoki surfaces has already been considered by Dloussky and Kohler. We use normal forms for the action of the fundamental group of the complement of D and for the associated holomorphic contraction germ from (C^2,0) to (C^2,0).
We describe explicitly the moduli spaces $M^{pst}_g(S,E)$ of polystable holomorphic structures $E$ with $\det E\cong K$ on a rank 2 vector bundle $E$ with $c_1(E)=c_1(K)$ and $c_2(E)=0$ for all minimal class VII surfaces $S$ with $b_2(S)=1$ and with respect to all possible Gauduchon metrics $g$. These surfaces $S$ are non-elliptic and non-Kaehler complex surfaces and have recently been completely classified. When $S$ is a half or parabolic Inoue surface, $M^{pst}_g(S,E)$ is always a compact one-dimensional complex disc. When $S$ is an Enoki surface, one obtains a complex disc with finitely man…
We study the following question: Let $(X,g)$ be a compact Gauduchon surface, $(E,h)$ be a differentiable rank $r$ vector bundle on $X$, ${\mathcal{D}}$ be a fixed holomorphic structure on $D:=\det(E)$ and $a$ be the Chern connection of the pair $(\mathcal{D},\det(h))$. Does the complex space structure on ${\mathcal{M}}_a^{\mathrm{ASD}}(E)^*$ induced by the Kobayashi-Hitchin correspondence extend to a complex space structure on the Donaldson-Uhlenbeck compactification $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_a^\mathrm{ASD}(E)$? Our results answer this question in detail for the moduli spaces of $\mathrm{SU}(2)$…
This article deals with two topics: the first, which has a general character, is a variation formula for the the determinant line bundle in non-Kählerian geometry. This formula, which is a consequence of the non-Kählerian version of the Grothendieck-Riemann Roch theorem proved recently by Bismut, gives the variation of the determinant line bundle corresponding to a perturbation of a Fourier-Mukai kernel ${\cal E}$ on a product $B\times X$ by a unitary flat line bundle on the fiber $X$. When this fiber is a complex surface and ${\cal E}$ is a holomorphic 2-bundle, the result can be interpreted …
We develop a general strategy, based on gauge theoretical methods, to prove existence of curves on class VII surfaces. We prove that, for $b_2=2$, every minimal class VII surface has a cycle of rational curves hence, by a result of Nakamura, is a global deformation of a one parameter family of blown up primary Hopf surfaces. The case $b_2=1$ has been solved in a previous article. The fundamental object intervening in our strategy is the moduli space ${\mathcal M}^{\pst}(0,{\mathcal K})$ of polystable bundles ${\mathcal E}$ with $c_2({\mathcal E})=0$, $\det({\mathcal E})={\mathcal K}$. For larg…
We prove that any class $VII$ surface with $b_2=1$ has curves. This implies the "Global Spherical Shell conjecture" in the case $b_2=1$: Any minimal class $VII$ surface with $b_2=1$ admits a global spherical shell, hence it is isomorphic to one of the surfaces in the known list. The main idea of the proof is to show that a certain moduli space of PU(2)-instantons on a surface $X$ with no curves (if such a surface existed) would contain a closed Riemann surface $Y$ whose general points correspond to non-filtrable holomorphic bundles on $X$. Then we pass from a family of bundles on $X$ parameter…
Let $H(D)$ denote the space of holomorphic functions on the unit disk $D$. We characterize those radial weights $w$ on $D$, for which there exist functions $f, g \in H(D)$ such that the sum $|f| + |g|$ is equivalent to $w$. Also, we obtain similar results in several complex variables for circular, strictly convex domains with smooth boundary.
The relation between superholomorphicity and holomorphicity of chiral superstring N-point amplitudes for NS bosons on a genus 2 Riemann surface is shown to be encoded in a hybrid cohomology theory, incorporating elements of both de Rham and Dolbeault cohomologies. A constructive algorithm is provided which shows that, for arbitrary N and for each fixed even spin structure, the hybrid cohomology classes of the chiral amplitudes of the N-point function on a surface of genus 2 always admit a holomorphic representative. Three key ingredients in the derivation are a classification of all kinematic …
Moduli spaces of stable parabolic bundles of parabolic degree $0$ over the Riemann sphere are stratified according to the Harder--Narasimhan filtration of underlying vector bundles. Over a Zariski open subset $\mathscr{N}_{0}$ of the open stratum depending explicitly on a choice of parabolic weights, a real-valued function $\mathscr{S}$ is defined as the regularized critical value of the non-compact Wess--Zumino--Novikov--Witten action functional. The definition of $\mathscr{S}$ depends on a suitable notion of parabolic bundle `uniformization map' following from the Mehta--Seshadri and Birkhof…
We study the value distribution of holomorphic curves from a general open Riemann surface into a smooth logarithmic pair $(X, D).$ By stochastic calculus, we first obtain a version of tautological inequality (proposed by McQuillan) and a logarithmic derivative lemma. Then, one uses them to establish a Second Main Theorem of Nevanlinna theory for pair $(X, D)$ under certain conditions. Finally, we apply the Second Main Theorem to study the holomorphic curves from a general open Riemann surface into certain special moduli spaces of polarized Abelian varieties intersecting boundary divisors.
Let $\mathcal{M}^{\mathrm{st}}$ ($\mathcal{M}^{\mathrm{pst}}$) be a moduli space of stable (polystable) bundles with fixed determinant on a complex surface with $b_1=1$, $p_g=0$, and let $Z\subset \mathcal{M}^{\mathrm{st}}$ be a pure $k$-dimensional analytic set. We prove a general formula for the homological boundary $δ[Z]^{BM}\in H_{2k-1}^{BM}(\partial\hat{\mathcal M}^{\mathrm{pst}},\mathbb{Z})$ of the Borel-Moore fundamental class of $Z$ in the boundary of the blow up moduli space $\hat {\mathcal M}^{\mathrm{pst}}$. The proof is based on the holomorphic model theorem (proved in a previous a…
Generalizing the well-known Shafarevich hyperbolicity conjecture, it has been conjectured by Viehweg that a quasi-projective manifold that admits a generically finite morphism to the moduli stack of canonically polarized varieties is necessarily of log general type. Given a quasi-projective threefold Y that admits a non-constant map to the moduli stack, we employ extension properties of logarithmic pluri-forms to establish a strong relationship between the moduli map and the minimal model program of Y: in all relevant cases the minimal model program leads to a fiber space whose fibration facto…
We study the moduli space of trace-free irreducible rank 2 holomorphic connections over a complex projective curve of genus 2 and the forgetful map towards the moduli space of underlying vector bundles (including unstable bundles), for which we compute a natural Lagrangian rational section. As a particularity of the genus $2$ case, connections as above are invariant under the hyperelliptic involution : they descend as rank $2$ logarithmic connections over the Riemann sphere. We establish explicit links between the well-known moduli space of the underlying parabolic bundles with the classical a…
