Orbits of rational n-sets of projective spaces under the action of the linear group

For a fixed dimension $N$ we compute the generating function of the numbers $t_N(n)$ (respectively $\bar{t}_N(n)$) of $PGL_{N+1}(k)$-orbits of rational $n$-sets (respectively rational $n$-multisets) of the projective space $\mathb{P}^N$ over a finite field $k=\mathbb{F}_q$. For $N=1,2$ these results provide concrete formulas for $t_N(n)$ and $\bar{t}_N(n)$ as a polynomial in $q$ with integer coefficients.

An upper bound on the number of rational points of arbitrary projective varieties over finite fields

We give an upper bound on the number of rational points of an arbitrary Zariski closed subset of a projective space over a finite field. This bound depends only on the dimensions and degrees of the irreducible components and holds for very general varieties, even reducible and non equidimensional. As a consequence, we prove a conjecture of Ghorpade and Lachaud on the maximal number of rational points of an equidimensional projective variety.

Images of Rational Maps of Projective Spaces

Consider a rational map from a projective space to a product of projective spaces, induced by a collection of linear projections. Motivated by the the theory of limit linear series and Abel-Jacobi maps, we study the basic properties of the closure of the image of the rational map using a combination of techniques of moduli functors and initial degenerations. We first give a formula of multi-degree in terms of the dimensions of intersections of linear subspaces and then prove that it is Cohen-Macaulay. Finally, we compute its Hilbert polynomials.

Rational Angle Sets and Tight t-Designs

Given a finite subset of a sphere or projective space, known as a design, we can compute the strength and angle set of that design. When the strength and angle set meet certain bounds, the design is called tight. Hoggar sought to prove that, aside from certain known cases, the angle sets of tight projective designs must be rational. Lyubich found a counter-example and provided a repair for Hoggar's proof but excluded the exceptional octonion projective cases. Orbits of the stabiliser group of the Segre variety product of three projective lines

We prove that the stabiliser group G of the Segre variety product in PG(V) of three projective lines over a field F has four orbits on singular points of PG(V), and that G has five orbits on points of PG(V) if F is finite.

Realizations of automorphism groups of metric graphs induced by rational maps

For a rational map $ϕ$ from a metric graph $\varGamma$ to a tropical projective space $\boldsymbol{TP^n}$ defined by a ratio of rational functions $f_1, \ldots, f_{n + 1}$, an automorphism $σ$ of $\varGamma$ induces a permutation of the coordinates of $\boldsymbol{TP^n}$ if $\{ f_1, \ldots, f_{n + 1} \}$ is $\langle σ\rangle$-invariant. Through this description, we can realize the automorphism group of $Γ$ as ambient automorphism group such as tropical projective general linear group, tropical general linear group and $\boldsymbol{Z}$-linear transformation group of Euclidean space.
