In the paper "Cotorsion Pairs in C(R-Mod)", the authors construct an abelian model structure on the category of chain complexes Ch(R), where the class of cofibrant objects is given by the class of degreewise projective chain complexes. Using a generalization of a well known theorem by I. Kaplansky, we generalize the method used in that paper in order to obtain, for each integer n>1, a new abelian model structure on Ch(R), where the class of cofibrant objects is the class of chain complexes whose terms have projective dimension smaller or equal than n (dw-n-projective complexes), provided the r…
We construct Abelian model structures on the category of chain complexes over a ring $R$, from the notion homological dimensions of modules. Given an integer $n > 0$, we prove that the left modules over a ringoid $\mathfrak{R}$ with projective dimension at most $n$ form the left half of a complete cotorsion pair. Using this result we prove that there is a unique Abelian model structure on the category of chain complexes where the exact complexes are the trivial objects and the complexes with projective dimension at most $n$ form the class of trivially cofibrant objects. In the paper "Cotorsion…
We study the homotopy theory of a certain type of diagram categories whose vertices are in variable categories with a functorial path, leading to a good calculation of the homotopy category in terms of cofibrant objects. The theory is applied to the category of mixed Hodge diagrams of differential graded algebras. Using Sullivan's minimal models, we prove a multiplicative version of Beilinson's Theorem on mixed Hodge complexes. As a consequence, we obtain functoriality for the mixed Hodge structures on the rational homotopy type of complex algebraic varieties. In this context, the mixed Hodge …

In this paper we define Martin-Löf complexes to be algebras for monads on the category of (reflexive) globular sets which freely add cells in accordance with the rules of intensional Martin-Löf type theory. We then study the resulting categories of algebras for several theories. Our principal result is that there exists a cofibrantly generated Quillen model structure on the category of 1-truncated Martin-Löf complexes and that this category is Quillen equivalent to the category of groupoids. In particular, 1-truncated Martin-Löf complexes are a model of homotopy 1-types.
Triangulated categories arising in algebra can often be described as the homotopy category of a pretriangulated dg-category, a category enriched in chain complexes with a natural notion of shifts and cones that is accessible with all the machinery of homological algebra. Dg-categories are algebraic models of $\infty$-categories and thus fit into a wide ecosystem of higher-categorical models and translations between them. In this paper we describe an equivalence between two methods to turn a pretriangulated dg-category into a quasicategory. The dg-nerve of a dg-category is a quasicategory whose…
K-flatness in Grothendieck categories: Application to quasi-coherent sheaves

We study liftings of abelian model structures to categories of chain complexes and construct a realization functor from the derived category of a Grothendieck abelian category equipped with a cofibrantly generated, hereditary abelian model structure to the homotopy category of that model structure.
Let $R$ be a ring with identity. Inspired by recent work of Emmanouil, we show that the derived category of $R$ is equivalent to the chain homotopy category of all K-flat complexes with pure-injective components. This is implicitly related to a recollement we exhibit. It expresses $\mathcal{D}_{pur}(R)$, the pure derived category of $R$, as an attachment of the usual derived category $\mathcal{D}(R)$ with Emmanouil's quotient category $\mathcal{D}_{K-flat}(R):=K(R)/K-Flat$, which here we call the K-flat derived category. It follows that this Verdier quotient is a compactly generated triangulat…
A model structure on the category of A$_\infty$-categories with strict morphisms

We give an explicit way of calculating the set of homotopy classes of morphisms from a Tamsamani n-category A to another one B. This calculation uses a Reedy-cofibrant cosimplicial resolution of A, using a new notion of ``free cofibration'' of n-precats. The free cofibrations of n-precats seem to be the analogue for n-categories of the Bousfield-Kan cofibrations in the theory of diagrams.
We establish a model structure on the category of strict omega-categories. The constructions leading to the model structure in question are expressed entirely within the scope of omega-categories, building on a set of generating cofibrations and a class of weak equivalences as basic items. All object are fibrant while cofibrant objects are exactly the free ones. Our model structure transfers to n-categories along right-adjoints, for each n, thus recovering the known cases n = 1 and n = 2.
Following Ellis, we investigate the notion of totally free crossed squares and related square complexes. It is shown how to interpret the information in a free simplicial group given with a choice of CW-basis, in terms of the data for a totally free crossed square. Results of Ellis then apply to give a description in terms of tensor products of crossed modules. The paper ends with a purely algebraic derivation of a result of Brown and Loday.
The category of strict omega-categories has an important full subcategory whose objects are the simple omega-categories freely generated by planar trees or by globular cardinals. We give a simple description of this subcategory in terms of chain complexes, and we give a similar description of the opposite category, the category of finite discs, in terms of cochain complexes. Berger has shown that the category of simple omega-categories has a filtration by iterated wreath products of the simplex category. We generalise his result by considering wreath products of categories of chain complexes o…
In this paper we study the question of how to transfer homotopic structure from the category sD of simplicial objects in a fixed category D to D. To this end we use a sort of homotopy colimit s : sD --> D, which we call simple functor. For instance, the Bousfield-Kan homotopy colimit in a Quillen simplicial model category is an example of simple functor. As a remarkable example outside the setting of Quillen models we include Deligne simple of mixed Hodge complexes. We prove here that the simple functor induces an equivalence on the corresponding localized categories. We also describe a natura…
We investigate the categories of weak maps associated to an algebraic weak factorisation system (AWFS) in the sense of Grandis-Tholen. For any AWFS on a category with an initial object, cofibrant replacement forms a comonad, and the category of (left) weak maps associated to the AWFS is by definition the Kleisli category of this comonad. We exhibit categories of weak maps as a kind of "homotopy category", that freely adjoins a section for every "acyclic fibration" (=right map) of the AWFS; and using this characterisation, we give an alternate description of categories of weak maps in terms of …
Let $R$ be a commutative noetherian ring with a semi-dualizing module $C$. The Auslander categories with respect to $C$ are related through Foxby equivalence: $\xymatrix@C=50pt{\mathcal {A}_C(R) \ar@<0.4ex>[r]^{C\otimes^{\mathbf{L}}_{R} -} & \mathcal {B}_C(R) \ar@<0.4ex>[l]^{\mathbf{R}\mathrm{Hom}_{R}(C, -)}}$. We firstly intend to extend the Foxby equivalence to Cartan-Eilenberg complexes. To this end, C-E Auslander categories, C-E $\mathcal{W}$ complexes and C-E $\mathcal{W}$-Gorenstein complexes are introduced, where $\mathcal{W}$ denotes a self-orthogonal class of $R$-modules. Moreover, cr…
