A connected algebraic group in characteristic 0 is uniquely determined by its Lie algebra. In this paper an algorithm is given for constructing an algebraic group in characteristic 0, given its Lie algebra. Using this an algorithm is presented for finding a maximal reductive subgroup and the unipotent radical of an algebraic group.
We give an algorithm for constructing the algebraic hull of a given matrix Lie algebra in characteristic zero. It is based on an algorithm for finding integral linear dependencies of the roots of a polynomial, that is probably of independent interest.
We consider the problem of constructing semisimple subalgebras of real (semi-) simple Lie algebras. We develop computational methods that help to deal with this problem. Our methods boil down to solving a set of polynomial equations. In many cases the equations turn out to be sufficiently "pleasant" to be able to solve them. In particular this is the case for S-subalgebras.
Algorithms are described that help with obtaining a classification of the semisimple subalgebras of a given semisimple Lie algebra, up to linear equivalence. The algorithms have been used to obtain classifications of the semisimple subalgebras of the simple Lie algebras of ranks <= 8. These have been made available as a database inside the SLA package of GAP4. The subalgebras in this database are explicitly given, as well as the inclusion relations among them.
The Z-grading determined by a long simple root of an affine or finite type Lie algebra arises from an adjoint or cominuscule representation of a lower rank semi-simple complex Lie algebra. Analysis of the relationship between the grading and the representation leads to an extension of Kac's construction of nontwisted affine Lie algebras.
In this paper I try to construct the Anick's resolution for the Temperley-Lieb algebra $TL_3$ and bar homology $Tor_\ast^{TL_3}(\mathbb{C},\mathbb{C})$ and shows that how $τ\in \mathbb{C}$ given in the definition of $TL_3$ is actively involved in the differentials both in free resolution and bar homology. It suggests that the bar homology depends on the nature of $τ$.
In this paper we generalize the Skjelbred Sund method, used to classify nilpotent Lie algebras, in order to classify triple systems with non zero annihilator. We develop this method with the purpose of classifying nilpotent Lie triple systems, obtaining from it the algebraic classification of the nilpotent Lie triple systems up to dimension four. Additionally, we obtain the geometric classification of the variety of nilpotent Lie triple systems up to dimension four.
The paper is devoted to give the complete algebraic classification of nilpotent binary Lie algebras of dimension $\leq 6$ over an arbitrary base field ${\mathbb{F}}$ of characteristic not $2$ and the complete geometric classification of nilpotent binary Lie algebras of dimension $6$ over $\mathbb C.$ As an application, we have the algebraic and geometric classification of nilpotent anticommutative $\mathfrak{CD}$-algebras of dimension $\leq 6.$
We construct generating pairs of simple Lie algebras in characteristic zero. We apply this construction to exhibit infinite series of 2-generator Zariski dense subgroups that are free of rank 2 of the simple algebraic groups SL(n, C), Sp(n, C), G_2(C).
It is conjectured that every manifold admitting an Anosov diffeomorphism is, up to homeomorphism, finitely covered by a nilmanifold. Motivated by this conjecture, an important problem is to determine which nilmanifolds admit an Anosov diffeomorphism. The main theorem of this article gives a general method for constructing Anosov diffeomorphisms on nilmanifolds. As a consequence, we give counterexamples to a corollary of the classification of low-dimensional nilmanifolds with Anosov diffeomorphisms and a correction to this statement is proven. This method also answers some open questions about …
In 2014, Wolfgang Rump showed that there exists a correspondence between left nilpotent right R-braces and pre-Lie algebras. This correspondence, established using a geometric approach related to flat affine manifolds and affine torsors, works locally. In this paper we explain Rump's correspondence using only algebraic formulae. An algebraic interpretation of the correspondence works for fields of sufficiently large prime characteristic as well as for fields of characteristic zero.
The set HLie(n) of the n-dimensional Hom-Lie algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero is provided with a structure of algebraic subvariety of the affine plane of dimension n^2(n-1)/2}. For n=3, these two sets coincide, for n=4 it is an hypersurface in K^{24}. For n>4, we describe the scheme of polynomial equations which define HLie(n). We determine also what are the classes of Hom-Lie algebras which are P-algebras where P is a binary quadratic operads.
We consider Lie algebroids over algebraic spaces (in short we call it as $a$-spaces) by considering the sheaf of Lie-Rinehart algebras. We discuss about properties of universal enveloping algebroid $\mathscr{U}(\mathcal{O}_X,\mathcal{L})$ of a Lie algebroid $\mathcal{L}$ over an $a$-space $(X, \mathcal{O}_X)$. This is done by sheafification of the presheaf of universal enveloping algebras for Lie-Rinehart algebras. We review the extent to which structure of the universal enveloping algebroid of Lie algebroids (over special $a$-spaces) resembles a sheaf of bialgebras. In the sequel we present a…
We study internal Lie algebras in the category of subshifts on a fixed group -- or Lie algebraic subshifts for short. We show that if the acting group is virtually polycyclic and the underlying vector space has dense homoclinic points, such subshifts can be recoded to have a cellwise Lie bracket. On the other hand there exist Lie algebraic subshifts (on any finitely-generated non-torsion group) with cellwise vector space operations whose bracket cannot be recoded to be cellwise. We also show that one-dimensional full vector shifts with cellwise vector space operations can support infinitely ma…
A finite dimensional filiform K-Lie algebra is a nilpotent Lie algebra g whose nil index is maximal, that is equal to dim g -1. We describe necessary and sufficient conditions for a filiform algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 to admit a contact linear form (in odd dimension) or a symplectic structure (in even dimension). If we fix a Vergne's basis, the set of filiform n-dimensional Lie algebras is a closed Zariski subset of an affine space generated by the structure constants associated with this fixed basis. Then this subset is an algebraic variety and we describe …
For any finite graph Gamma and any field K of characteristic unequal to 2 we construct an algebraic variety X over K whose K-points parameterise K-Lie algebras generated by extremal elements, corresponding to the vertices of the graph, with prescribed commutation relations, corresponding to the non-edges. After that, we study the case where Gamma is a connected, simply laced Dynkin diagram of finite or affine type. We prove that X is then an affine space, and that all points in an open dense subset of X parameterise Lie algebras isomorphic to a single fixed Lie algebra. If Gamma is of affine t…
The notion of rigidity of Lie algebra is linked to the following problem: when does a Lie brackets $μ$ on a vector space g satisfy that every Lie bracket $μ_1$ sufficiently close to $μ$ is of the form $μ_1 = P.μ$ for some P in GL(g) close to the identity? A Lie algebra which satisfies the above condition will be called rigid. The most famous example is the Lie algebra sl(2,C) of square matrices of order $2$ with vanishing trace. This Lie algebra is rigid, that is any close deformation is isomorphic to it. Let us note that, for this Lie algebra, there exists a quantification of its universal al…
The paper concerns two versions of the notion of real forms of Lie superalgebras. One is the standard approach, where a real form of a complex Lie superalgebra is a real Lie superalgebra such that its complexification is the original complex Lie superalgebra. The second is related to considering $A$-points of a Lie superalgebra over a commutative complex superalgebra $A$ equipped with superconjugation. It is not difficult to see that the first real form can be obtained as the set of fixed points of an antilinear involutive automorphism and the second is related to an automorphism $ϕ$ such that…
In this paper, under some natural condition, a complete classification of compatible left-symmetric conformal algebraic structures on the Lie conformal algebra $\mathcal{W}(a,b)$ is presented. Moreover, applying this result, we obtain a class of compatible left-symmetric algebraic structures on the coefficient algebra of $\mathcal{W}(a,b)$.
Simple Lie algebras of finite dimension over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 or $p> 3$ were recently classified. However, the problem over an algebraically closed field of characteristics 2 or 3 there exist only partial results. The first result on the problem of classification of simple Lie algebra of finite dimension over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 2 is that these algebras have absolute toral rank greater than or equal to 2. In this paper we show that there are not simple Lie 2-algebras with toral rank 3 over an algebraically closed field of characteris…

Let $G$ be a reductive group acting on a path algebra $kQ$ as automorphisms. We assume that $G$ admits a graded polynomial representation theory, and the action is polynomial. We describe the quiver $Q_G$ of the smash product algebra $kQ\# k[M_G]^*$, where $M_G$ is the associated algebraic monoid of $G$. We use $Q_G$-representations to construct $G$-invariant representations of $Q$. As an application, we construct algebraic semi-invariants on the quiver representation spaces from those $G$-invariant representations.
We show that every connected affine algebraic supergroup defined over a field k, with diagonalizable maximal torus and whose tangent Lie superalgebra is a k-form of a complex simple Lie superalgebra of classical type is a Chevalley supergroup, as it is defined and constructed explicitly in [R. Fioresi, F. Gavarini, "Chevalley Supergroups", Memoirs of the AMS 215 (2012), no. 1014].
We survey some recent constructions of cluster algebra structures on coordinate rings of unipotent subgroups and unipotent cells of Kac-Moody groups. We also review a quantized version of these results.
In this article we describe varieties of Lie algebras via algebraic exponentiation, a concept introduced by Gray in his Ph.D. thesis. For $\mathbb{K}$ an infinite field of characteristic different from $2$, we prove that the variety of Lie algebras over $\mathbb{K}$ is the only variety of non-associative $\mathbb{K}$-algebras which is a non-abelian locally algebraically cartesian closed (LACC) category. More generally, a variety of $n$-algebras $\mathcal{V}$ is a non-abelian (LACC) category if and only if $n=2$ and $\mathcal{V}=\mathsf{Lie}_\mathbb{K}$. In characteristic $2$ the situation is s…
We initiate an algebraic approach to study DNA origami structures by associating an element from a monoid to each structure. We identify two types of basic building blocks and describe an DNA origami structure with their composition. These building blocks are taken as generators of a monoid, called origami monoid, and, motivated by the well studied Temperley-Lieb algebras, we identify a set of relations that characterize the origami monoid. We also present several observations about the Green's relations for the origami monoid and study the relations to a cross product of Jones monoids that is…
In this review article, first we give the concrete formulas of representations and cohomologies of associative algebras, Lie algebras, pre-Lie algebras, Leibniz algebras and 3-Lie algebras and some of their strong homotopy analogues. Then we recall the graded Lie algebras and graded associative algebras that characterize these algebraic structures as Maurer-Cartan elements. The corresponding Maurer-Cartan element equips the graded Lie or associative algebra with a differential. Then the deformations of the given algebraic structures are characterized as the Maurer-Cartan elements of the result…
We characterise Lie groups with bi-invariant bargmannian, galilean or carrollian structures. Localising at the identity, we show that Lie algebras with ad-invariant bargmannian, carrollian or galilean structures are actually determined by the same data: a metric Lie algebra with a skew-symmetric derivation. This is the same data defining a one-dimensional double extension of the metric Lie algebra and, indeed, bargmannian Lie algebras coincide with such double extensions, containing carrollian Lie algebras as an ideal and projecting to galilean Lie algebras. This sets up a canonical correspond…
