In this paper we look into the structure of finite-dimensional graded superalgebras of various types such as associative, Lie and Jordan over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero.
We classify up to equivalence the gradings on Hurwitz superalgebras and on symmetric composition superalgebras, over any field. Also, classifications up to isomorphism are given in case the field is algebraically closed. By grading, here we mean group grading.
In this paper we define the so-called twisted Heisenberg superalgebras over the complex number field by adding derivations to Heisenberg superalgebras. We classify the fine gradings up to equivalence on twisted Heisenberg superalgebras and determine the Weyl groups of those gradings.
The fine abelian group gradings on the simple exceptional classical Lie superalgebras over algebraically closed fields of characteristic 0 are determined up to equivalence.
We classify gradings by arbitrary abelian groups on the classical simple Lie superalgebras $P(n)$, $n \geq 2$, and on the simple associative superalgebras $M(m,n)$, $m, n \geq 1$, over an algebraically closed field: fine gradings up to equivalence and $G$-gradings, for a fixed group $G$, up to isomorphism. As a corollary, we also classify up to isomorphism the $G$-gradings on the classical Lie superalgebra $A(m,n)$ that are induced from $G$-gradings on $M(m+1,n+1)$. In the case of Lie superalgebras, the characteristic is assumed to be $0$.
We introduce grading on certain finite dimensional simple Lie superalgebras of type $P(t)$ by elementary abelian 2-group. This grading gives rise to Pauli matrices and is a far generalization of $(\mathbb Z_2\times \mathbb Z_2)$-grading on Lie algebra of $(2\times 2)$-traceless matrices. We use this grading for studying numerical invariants of polyomial identities of Lie superalgebras. In particular, we compute graded PI-exponent corresponding to Pauli grading.
In this paper we describe all group gradings by an arbitrary finite group $G$ on non-simple finite-dimensional superinvolution simple associative superalgebras over an algebraically closed field $F$ of characteristic 0 or coprime to the order of $G$.
We classify gradings by arbitrary abelian groups on the classical simple Lie and Jordan superalgebras $Q(n)$, $n \geq 2$, over an algebraically closed field of characteristic different from $2$ (and not dividing $n+1$ in the Lie case): fine gradings up to equivalence and $G$-gradings, for a fixed group $G$, up to isomorphism.
Consider a Leibniz superalgebra $\mathfrak L$ additionally graded by an arbitrary set $I$ (set grading). We show that $\mathfrak L$ decomposes as the sum of well-described graded ideals plus (maybe) a suitable linear subspace. In the case of ${\mathfrak L}$ being of maximal length, the simplicity of ${\mathfrak L}$ is also characterized in terms of connections.
We describe the fine (group) gradings on the Heisenberg algebras, on the Heisenberg superalgebras and on the twisted Heisenberg algebras. We compute the Weyl groups of these gradings. Also the results obtained respect to Heisenberg superalgebras are applied to the study of Heisenberg Lie color algebras.
Let $F$ be a field of characteristic zero and let $E$ be the Grassmann algebra of an infinite dimensional $F$-vector space $L$. In this paper we study the superalgebra structures (that is the $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$-gradings) that the algebra $E$ admits. By using the duality between superalgebras and automorphisms of order $2$ we prove that in many cases the $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$-graded polynomial identities for such structures coincide with the $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$-graded polynomial identities of the "typical" cases $E_{\infty}$, $E_{k^\ast}$ and $E_{k}$ where the vector space $L$ is homogeneous. Recall that…
The ground field in the text is of characteristic 2. The classification of modulo 2 gradings of simple Lie algebras is vital for the classification of simple finite-dimensional Lie superalgebras: with each grading, a simple Lie superalgebra is associated, see arXiv:1407.1695. No classification of gradings was known for any type of simple Lie algebras, bar restricted Jacobson-Witt algebras (i.e., the first derived of the Lie algebras of vector fields with truncated polynomials as coefficients) on not less than 3 indeterminates. Here we completely describe gradings modulo 2 for several series of…
The group-scheme of automorphisms of the ten-dimensional exceptional Kac's Jordan superalgebra is shown to be isomorphic to the semidirect product of the direct product of two copies of SL2 by the constant group scheme C2. This is used to revisit, extend, and simplify, known results on the classification of the twisted forms of this superalgebra and of its gradings.
The principal filtration of the infinite-dimensional odd Contact Lie superalgebra over a field of characteristic $p>2$ is proved to be invariant under the automorphism group by investigating ad-nilpotent elements and determining certain invariants such as subalgebras generated by some ad-nilpotent elements. Then, it is proved that two automorphisms coincide if and only if they coincide on the -1 component with respect to the principal grading. Finally, all the odd Contact superalgebras are classified up to isomorphisms.
Classically important examples of Lie superalgebras have been constructed starting from the Witt and Virasoro algebra. In this article we consider Lie superalgebras of Krichever-Novikov type. These algebras are multi-point and higher genus equivalents. The grading in the classical case is replaced by an almost-grading. The almost-grading is determined by a splitting of the set of points were poles are allowed into two disjoint subsets. With respect to a fixed splitting, or equivalently with respect to an almost-grading, it is shown that there is up to rescaling and equivalence a unique non-tri…
We consider two families of finite-dimensional simple Lie superalgebras of Cartan type, denoted by HO and KO, over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>3. Using the weight space decompositions and the principal gradings we first show that neither HO nor KO possesses a nondegenerate associative form. Then, by means of computing the superderivations from the Lie superalgebras in consideration into their dual modules, the second cohomology groups with coefficients in the trivial modules are proved to be vanishing.
A depth one grading $\mathfrak{g}= \mathfrak{g}^{-1}\oplus \mathfrak{g}^0 \oplus \mathfrak{g}^1 \oplus \cdots \oplus \mathfrak{g}^{\ell}$ of a finite dimensional Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{g}$ is called nonlinear irreducible if the isotropy representation $\mathrm{ad}_{\mathfrak{g}^0}|_{\mathfrak{g}^{-1}}$ is irreducible and $\mathfrak{g}^1 \neq (0)$. An example is the full prolongation of an irreducible linear Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{g}^0 \subset \mathfrak{gl}(\mathfrak{g}^{-1})$ of finite type with non-trivial first prolongation. We prove that a complex Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{g}$ w…
In this paper, the Hom-Lie superalgebra structures on exceptional simple Lie superalgebras of vector fields are studied. Taking advantage of the Z-grading structures and the transitivity, we prove that there is only the trivial Hom-Lie superalgebra structures on exceptional simple Lie superalgebras. Our proof is obtained by studying the Hom-Lie superalgebra structures on their 0-th and -1-st Z-components.
The Grigorchuk and Gupta-Sidki groups play fundamental role in modern group theory. Their natural analogues are self-similar nil Lie $p$-algebras. In characteristic zero, similar examples of Lie algebras do not exist (Martinez and Zelmanov). The second author recently constructed a 3-generated self-similar nil finely graded Lie superalgebra, which showed that an extension of Martinez-Zelmanov's result for Lie superalgebras of characteristic zero is not valid. Now, we suggest a more handy example. We construct a 2-generated self-similar Lie superalgebra $\mathbf{R}$ over arbitrary field. It has…
Let $F$ be an infinite field of characteristic different from 2, and let $E$ be the Grassmann algebra of an infinite dimensional $F$-vector space $L$. In this paper we study the $\mathbb{Z}$-graded polynomial identities of $E$ with respect to certain $\mathbb{Z}$-grading such that the vector space $L$ is homogeneous in the grading. More precisely, we construct three types of $\mathbb{Z}$-gradings on $E$, denoted by $E^{\infty}$, $E^{k^\ast}$ and $E^{k}$, and we give the explicit form of the corresponding $\mathbb{Z}$-graded polynomial identities. We show that the homogeneous superalgebras $E_{…
We classify, up to isomorphism, gradings by abelian groups on nilpotent filiform Lie algebras of nonzero rank. In case of rank 0, we describe conditions to obtain non trivial $\Z_k$-gradings.
We classify, up to equivalences, all abelian groups gradings on null-filiform and one-parametric filiform Leibniz algebras. Any grading on a null-filiform Leibniz algebra is toral but there are non-toral gradings on one-parametric filiform Leibniz algebras.
The aim of this note is to completely determine the second homology group of the special queer Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{sq}_n(R)$ coordinatized by a unital associative superalgebra $R$, which will be achieved via an isomorphism between the special linear Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{sl}_{n}(R\otimes Q_1)$ and the special queer Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{sq}_n(R)$.
In this paper we describe all group gradings by a finite abelian group G of any Lie algebra L of the type "A" over algebraically closed field F of characteristic zero.
In this paper we describe all gradings by abelian groups without elements of order p, where p > 2 is the characteristic of the base field, on the simple graded Cartan type Lie algebras.
In this paper, we study the structure and representability of the automorphism group functor of the N=4 Lie conformal superalgebra over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic zero.
By definition, a quadratic Lie superalgebra is a Lie superalgebra endowed with a non-degenerate supersymmetric bilinear form which satisfies the even and invariant properties. In this paper we calculate all of the second cohomology group of elementary quadratic Lie superalgebras which have been classified in \cite{DU14} by applying the super-Poisson bracket on the super exterior algebra. Besides, we give the classification of 8-dimensional solvable quadratic Lie superalgebras having 6-dimensional indecomposable even part. The method is based on the double extension and classification results o…
In this paper we consider gradings by a finite abelian group $G$ on the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}_n(F)$ over an algebraically closed field $F$ of characteristic different from 2 and not dividing $n$.
Let G be an arbitrary group and let K be a field of characteristic different from 2. We classify the G-gradings on the Jordan algebra of upper triangular matrices of order n over K. It turns out that there are, up to a graded isomorphism, two families of gradings: the elementary gradings (analogous to the ones in the associative case), and the so called mirror type (MT) gradings. Moreover we prove that the G-gradings on this algebra are uniquely determined, up to a graded isomorphism, by the graded identities they satisfy.
A Lie algebra L is known to be nilpotent if it admits a grading by (Zp, +) with support X not containing 0. It is also known that the class of L can be bounded by some explicit function of |X|. We generalise this and other classical results to gradings of Lie algebras by arbitrary groups with arithmetically-free support. We then apply these results to automorphisms of groups satisfying an identity.
We study group-graded Lie algebras L with finite support X. We show that L is nilpotent of |X|-bounded class if X is arithmetically-free. Conversely: we show that Y supports the grading of a non-nilpotent Lie algebra if Y is not arithmetically-free.
We classify gradings on matrix algebras by a finite abelian group. A grading is called good if all elementary matrices are homogeneous. For cyclic groups, all gradings on a matrix algebra over an algebraically closed field are good. We can count the number of good gradings by a cyclic group. Using descent theory, we classify non-good gradings on a matrix algebra that become good after a base extension.
This paper is devoted to a study of the automorphism groups of three series of finite dimensional special odd Hamiltonian superalgebras $\mathfrak{g}$ over a field of prime characteristic. Our aim is to characterize the connections between the automorphism groups of $\mathfrak{g}$ and the automorphism groups of the corresponding underlying superalgebras. Precisely speaking, we embed the former into the later. Moreover, we determine the images of the normal series of the automorphism groups and homogeneous automorphism groups of $\mathfrak{g.}$
Given a grading on a nonassociative algebra by an abelian group, we have two subgroups of automorphisms attached to it: the automorphisms that stabilize each homogeneous component (as a subspace) and the automorphisms that permute the components. By the Weyl group of the grading we mean the quotient of the latter subgroup by the former. In the case of a Cartan decomposition of a semisimple complex Lie algebra, this is the automorphism group of the root system, i.e., the so-called extended Weyl group. A grading is called fine if it cannot be refined. We compute the Weyl groups of all fine gradi…
A set grading on the split simple Lie algebra of type $D_{13}$, that cannot be realized as a group-grading, is constructed by splitting the set of positive roots into a disjoint union of pairs of orthogonal roots, following a pattern provided by the lines of the projective plane over $GF(3)$. This answers in the negative Question 1.11 in Elduque-Kochetov monograph (2013). Similar non-group gradings are obtained for types $D_n$ with $n$ congruent to 1 modulo 12, by substituting the lines in the projective plane by blocks of suitable Steiner systems.
The second cohomology group (SCG) of the Jordan superalgebra $\mathcal{D}_{t}$, $t\neq 0$, is calculated by using the coefficients which appear in the regular superbimodule $\mathrm{Reg}\mathcal{D}_t$. Contrary to the case of algebras, this group is nontrivial thanks to the non-splitting caused by the Wedderburn Decomposition Theorem \cite{Faber1}. First, to calculate the SCG of a Jordan superalgebra we use split-null extension of the Jordan superalgebra and the Jordan superalgebra representation. We prove conditions that satisfy the bilinear forms $h$ that determine the SCG in Jordan superalg…
We classify, up to isomorphism, all gradings by an arbitrary abelian group on simple finitary Lie algebras of linear transformations (special linear, orthogonal and symplectic) on infinite-dimensional vector spaces over an algebraically closed field of characteristic different from 2.
We study gradings by noncommutative groups on finite dimensional Lie algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. It is shown that if $L$ is gradeg by a non-abelian finite group $G$ then the solvable radical $R$ of $L$ is $G$-graded and there exists a Levi subalgebra $B=H_1\oplus\cdots\oplus H_m$ homogeneous in $G$-grading with graded simple summands $H_1, \ldots, H_m$. All supports $Supp~H_i, i=1\ldots, m$, are commutative subsets of $G$.
Our approach to structural matrix rings defines them over preordered directed graphs. A grading of a structural matrix ring is called a good grading if its standard unit matrices are homogeneous. For a group $G$, a $G$ -grading set is a set of arrows with the property that any assignment of these arrows to elements of $G$ uniquely determines an induced good grading. One of our main results is that a $G$-grading set exists for any transitive directed graph if $G$ is a group of prime order. This extends a result of Kelarev. However, an example of Molli Jones shows there are directed graphs which…
We classify group gradings on the simple Lie algebra $L$ of type $D_4$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic different from 2: fine gradings up to equivalence and $G$-gradings, with a fixed group $G$, up to isomorphism. For each $G$-grading on $L$, we also study graded $L$-modules (assuming characteristic 0).
For a given abelian group G, we classify the isomorphism classes of G-gradings on the simple Lie algebras of types A_n (n >= 1), B_n (n >= 2), C_n (n >= 3) and D_n (n > 4), in terms of numerical and group-theoretical invariants. The ground field is assumed to be algebraically closed of characteristic different from 2.
We show that there exists a constant K such that for any PI- algebra W and any nondegenerate G-grading on W where G is any group (possibly infinite), there exists an abelian subgroup U of G with $[G : U] \leq exp(W)^K$. A G-grading $W = \bigoplus_{g \in G}W_g$ is said to be nondegenerate if $W_{g_1}W_{g_2}... W_{g_r} \neq 0$ for any $r \geq 1$ and any $r$ tuple $(g_1, g_2,..., g_r)$ in $G^r$.
Given a grading $Γ: A=\oplus_{g\in G}A_g$ on a nonassociative algebra $A$ by an abelian group $G$, we have two subgroups of the group of automorphisms of $A$: the automorphisms that stabilize each homogeneous component $A_g$ (as a subspace) and the automorphisms that permute the components. By the Weyl group of $Γ$ we mean the quotient of the latter subgroup by the former. In the case of a Cartan decomposition of a semisimple complex Lie algebra, this is the automorphism group of the root system, i.e., the so-called extended Weyl group. A grading is called fine if it cannot be refined. We comp…
Let $G$ be a group and let $S=\bigoplus_{g \in G} S_g$ be a $G$-graded ring. Given a normal subgroup $N$ of $G$, there is a naturally induced $G/N$-grading of $S$. It is well-known that if $S$ is strongly $G$-graded, then the induced $G/N$-grading is strong for any $N$. The class of epsilon-strongly graded rings was recently introduced by Nystedt, Öinert and Pinedo as a generalization of unital strongly graded rings. We give an example of an epsilon-strongly graded partial skew group ring such that the induced quotient group grading is not epsilon-strong. Moreover, we give necessary and suffic…
We classify group gradings on the simple Lie algebras of types $G_2$ and $D_4$ over the field of real numbers (or any real closed field): fine gradings up to equivalence and $G$-gradings, with a fixed group $G$, up to isomorphism.
It was proved by Valenti and Zaicev, in 2011, that, if $G$ is an abelian group and $K$ is an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, then any $G$-grading on the algebra of upper block triangular matrices over $K$ is isomorphic to a tensor product $M_n(K)\otimes UT(n_1,n_2,\ldots,n_d)$, where $UT(n_1,n_2,\ldots,n_d)$ is endowed with an elementary grading and $M_n(K)$ is provided with a division grading. In this paper, we prove the validity of the same result for a non necessarily commutative group and over an adequate field (characteristic either zero or large enough), not necessaril…
