We show that the symmetrized bidisc is a $\Bbb C$-convex domain. This provides an example of a bounded $\Bbb C$-convex domain which cannot be exhausted by domains biholomorphic to convex domains.
The present paper is devoted to the study of classes of mappings with non--bounded characteristics of quasiconformality. It is proved that the normal families of mappings distorting the families of mappings in ${\Bbb R}^n$ by special way, have the logarithmic order of growth in the neighborhood of every point. There are proved some sufficient conditions of normality of such mappings $f:D\rightarrow \bar{{\Bbb R}^n},$ $n\ge 2,$ omitting the values of some set $E_f$ with some constraints of the type $c(E_f)\ge δ,$ $δ\in {\Bbb R},$ where $c(\cdot)$ is the special set function.
In this paper we establish results on the existence of nontangential limits for weighted $\Cal A$-harmonic functions in the weighted Sobolev space $W_w^{1,q}(\Bbb B^n)$, for some $q>1$ and $w$ in the Muckenhoupt $A_q$ class, where $\Bbb B^n$ is the unit ball in $\Bbb R^n$. These results generalize the ones in section \S3 of [KMV], where the weight was identically equal to one. Weighted $\Cal A$-harmonic functions are weak solutions of the partial differential equation $$\text{div}(\Cal A(x,\nabla u))=0,$$ where $αw(x) |ξ|^{q} \le < \Cal A(x,ξ),ξ>\le βw(x) |ξ|^{q}$ for some fixed $q\in (1,\inft…
A classical result states that every lower bounded superharmonic function on $\Bbb R^2$ is constant. In this paper the following (stronger) one-circle version is proven. If $f\colon \Bbb R^2\to (-\infty,\infty]$ is lower semicontinuous, $\liminf_{|x|\to\infty} f(x)/\ln|x|\ge 0$, and, for every $x\in\Bbb R^2$, $1/(2π) \int_0^{2π} f(x+r(x)e^{it}) dt\le f(x)$, where $r\colon \Bbb R^2\to (0,\infty)$ is continuous, $\sup_{x\in\Bbb R^2} (r(x)-|x|)<\infty$, and $\inf_{x\in\Bbb R^2} (r(x)-|x|)=-\infty$, then $f$ is constant. Moreover, it is shown that, with respect to the assumption $r\le c|\cdot|+M$ …
We study the fixed point sets of holomorphic self-maps of a bounded domain in ${\Bbb C}^n$. Specifically we investigate the least number of fixed points in general position in the domain that forces any automorphism (or endomorphism) to be the identity. We have discovered that in terms of this number one can give the necessary and sufficient condition for the domain to be biholomorphic to the unit ball. Other theorems and examples generalize and complete previous results in this area, especially the recent work of Jean-Pierre Vigué.
We prove that the norm of the Riesz projection from $L^\infty(\Bbb{T}^n)$ to $L^p(\Bbb{T}^n)$ is $1$ for all $n\ge 1$ only if $p\le 2$, thus solving a problem posed by Marzo and Seip in 2011. This shows that $H^p(\Bbb{T}^{\infty})$ does not contain the dual space of $H^1(\Bbb{T}^{\infty})$ for any $p>2$. We then note that the dual of $H^1(\Bbb{T}^{\infty})$ contains, via the Bohr lift, the space of Dirichlet series in $\operatorname{BMOA}$ of the right half-plane. We give several conditions showing how this $\operatorname{BMOA}$ space relates to other spaces of Dirichlet series. Finally, relat…
It is shown that that the rank of the second fundamental form (resp. the Levi form) of a $\mathcal C^2$-smooth convex hypersurface $M$ in $\Bbb R^{n+1}$ (resp. $\Bbb C^{n+1}$) does not exceed an integer constant $k<n$ near a point $p\in M,$ then through any point $q\in M$ near $p$ there exists a real (resp. complex) $(n-k)$-dimensional plane that locally lies on $M.$

The paper is devoted to the description of changes of the structure of the holomorphic automorphism group of a bounded domain in ${\Bbb C}^n$ under small perturbation of this domain in the Hausdorff metric. We consider a number of examples when an arbitrary small perturbation can lead to a domain with a larger group, present theorems concerning upper semicontinuity property of some invariants of automorphism groups. We also prove that the dimension of an abelian subgroup of the automorphism group of a bounded domain in ${\Bbb C}^n$ does not exceed $n$.
Let $Ω$ be a bounded symmetric domain except the two exceptional domains of ${\Bbb C}^N$ and $ϕ$ a holomorphic self-map of $Ω.$ This paper gives a sufficient and necessary condition for the composition operator $C_ϕ$ induced by $ϕ$ to be compact on the Bloch space $β(Ω)$.
First we establish some generic universalities for Padé approximants in the closure $X^\infty(\OO)$ in $A^\infty(\OO)$ of all rational functions with poles off $\oO$, the closure taken in $\C$ of the domain $\OO\subset\C$.\ Next we give sufficient conditions on $\OO$ so that $X^\infty(\OO)=A^\infty(\OO)$.\ Some of these conditions imply that, even if the boundary $\partial\OO$ of a Jordan domain $\OO$ has infinite length, the integration operator on $\OO$ preserves $H^\infty(\OO)$ and $A(\OO)$ as well.\ We also give an example of a Jordan domain $\OO$ and a function $f\in A(\OO)$, such that it…
We construct families of convex domains that are biholomorphic to bounded domains, but not bounded convex domains. This is accomplished by finding an obstruction related to the Gromov hyperbolicity of the Kobayashi metric.
We show that every homeomorphic $W^{1,1}_{\rm loc}$ solution $f$ to a Beltrami equation $\bar{\partial}f=μ\partial f$ in a domain $D\subset\Bbb C$ is the so--called lower $Q-$homeomorphism with $Q(z)=K^T_μ(z, z_0)$ where $K^T_μ(z, z_0)$ is the tangent dilatation of $f$ with respect to an arbitrary point $z_0\in {\bar{D}}$ and develop the theory of the boundary behavior of such solutions. Then, on this basis, we show that, for wide classes of degenerate Beltrami equations $\bar{\partial}f=μ\partial f$, there exist regular solutions of the Dirichlet problem in arbitrary Jordan domains in $\Bbb C…
In this paper, we first establish several general sufficient conditions for the biholomorphic convex mappings on the bounded convex balanced domain $D_{p}^n(p_{j}\geq 2,j=1,\cdots,n)$ in $C^{n}$, which extend some related results of earlier authors. From these, some concrete examples of biholomorphic convex mappings on $D_{p}^n$ are also provided.
We prove a spanning result for vector-valued Poincaré series on a bounded symmetric domain. We associate a sequence of holomorphic automorphic forms to a submanifold of the domain. When the domain is the unit ball in ${\Bbb{C}}^n$, we provide estimates for the norms of these automorphic forms and we find asymptotics of the norms (as the weight goes to infinity) for a class of totally real submanifolds. We give an example of a CR submanifold of the ball, for which the norms of the associated automorphic forms have a different asymptotic behavior.
For a pair $(A,B)$ of not necessarily bounded and not necessarily commuting self-adjoint operators and for a function $f$ on the Euclidean space ${\Bbb R}^2$ that belongs to the inhomogeneous Besov class $B_{\infty,1}^1({\Bbb R}^2)$, we define the function $f(A,B)$ of these operators as a densely defined operator. We consider the problem of estimating the functions $f(A,B)$ under perturbations of the pair $(A,B)$. It is established that if $1\le p\le2$, and $(A_1,B_1)$ and $(A_2,B_2)$ are pairs of not necessarily bounded and not necessarily commuting self-adjoint operators such that the operat…
We give a necessary complex geometric condition for a bounded smooth convex domain in Cn, endowed with the Kobayashi distance, to be Gromov hyperbolic. More precisely, we prove that if a smooth bounded convex domain contains an analytic disk in its boundary, then the domain is not Gromov hyperbolic for the Kobayashi distance. We also provide examples of bounded smooth convex domains that are not strongly pseudoconvex but are Gromov hyperbolic.
Let $f$ be a function on ${\Bbb R}^2$ in the inhomogeneous Besov space $B_{\infty,1}^1({\Bbb R}^2)$. For a pair $(A,B)$ of not necessarily bounded and not necessarily commuting self-adjoint operators, we define the function $f(A,B)$ of $A$ and $B$ as a densely defined linear operator. We show that if $1\le p\le2$, $(A_1,B_1)$ and $(A_2,B_2)$ are pairs of not necessarily bounded and not necessarily commuting self-adjoint operators such that both $A_1-A_2$ and $B_1-B_2$ belong to the Schatten--von Neumann class $\boldsymbol{S}_p$ and $f$ is in the above inhomogeneous Besov space, then the follow…
We show that every bounded domain $D$ in $\mathbb R^n$ with smooth $p$-convex boundary for $2\le p < n$ admits a smooth defining function $ρ$ which is $p$-plurisubharmonic on $\overline D$; if in addition $bD$ has no $p$-flat points then $ρ$ can be chosen strongly $p$-plurisubharmonic on $D$. If $bD$ is $2$-convex then for any open connected conformal surface $M$ and conformal harmonic map $f:M\to \overline D$, either $f(M)\subset D$ or $f(M)\subset bD$. In particular, every conformal harmonic map $\mathbb D^*\to D$ from the punctured disc extends to a conformal harmonic map $\mathbb D\to D$.
