We find a finite CMV matrix whose eigenvalues coincide with the Dirichlet data of a circular periodic problem. As a consequence, we obtain circular analogues of the classical trace formulae for periodic Jacobi matrices.
We consider Schrödinger operators with complex decaying potentials (in general, not from trace class) on the lattice. We determine trace formulae and estimate of eigenvalues and singular measure in terms of potentials. The proof is based on estimates of free resolvent and analysis of functions from Hardy space.
We consider Schrödinger operators with complex decaying potentials on the lattice. Using some classical results from Complex Analysis we obtain some trace formulae and using them estimate globally all zeros of the Fredholm determinant in terms of the potential.
We obtain general trace formulae in the case of perturbation of self-adjoint operators by self-adjoint operators of class $\bS_m$, where $m$ is a positive integer. In \cite{PSS} a trace formula for operator Taylor polynomials was obtained. This formula includes the Livshits--Krein trace formula in the case $m=1$ and the Koplienko trace formula in the case $m=2$. We establish most general trace formulae in the case of perturbation of Schatten--von Neumann class $\bS_m$. We also improve the trace formula obtained in \cite{PSS} for operator Taylor polynomials and prove it for arbitrary functions …
We extend the well-known trace formula for Hill's equation to general one-dimensional Schrödinger operators. The new function $ξ$, which we introduce, is used to study absolutely continuous spectrum and inverse problems.
We study discrete Schroedinger operators with compactly supported potentials on the square lattice. Constructing spectral representations and representing S-matrices by the generalized eigenfunctions, we show that the potential is uniquely reconstructed from the S-matrix of all energies. We also study the spectral shift function for the trace class potentials, and estimate the discrete spectrum in terms of the moments of the spectral shift function and the potential.
Trace formulae provide one of the most elegant descriptions of the classical-quantum correspondence. One side of a formula is given by a trace of a quantum object, typically derived from a quantum Hamiltonian, and the other side is described in terms of closed orbits of the corresponding classical Hamiltonian. In algebraic situations, such as the original Selberg trace formula, the identities are exact, while in general they hold only in semi-classical or high-energy limits. We refer to a recent survey \cite{Ur} for an introduction and references. In this paper we present an intermediate trace…
A trace formula for Toeplitz operators was proved by Boutet de Monvel and Guillemin in the setting of general Toeplitz structures. Here we give a local version of this result for a class of Toeplitz operators related to continuous groups of symmetries on quantizable compact symplectic manifolds. The local trace formula involves certain scaling asymptotics along the clean fixed locus of the Hamiltonian flow of the symbol, reminiscent of the scaling asymptotics of the equivariant components of the Szegö kernel along the diagonal.
A one-dimensional quantum harmonic oscillator perturbed by a smooth compactly supported potential is considered. For the corresponding eigenvalues $λ_n$, a complete asymptotic expansion for large $n$ is obtained, and the coefficients of this expansion are expressed in terms of the heat invariants. A sequence of trace formulas is obtained, expressing regularised sums of integer powers of eigenvalues $λ_n$ in terms of the heat invariants.
Graph Laplacians on finite compact metric graphs are considered under the assumption that the matching conditions at the graph vertices are of either $δ$ or $δ'$ type. In either case, an infinite series of trace formulae which link together two different graph Laplacians provided that their spectra coincide is derived. Applications are given to the problem of reconstructing matching conditions for a graph Laplacian based on its spectrum.
In this note self-adjoint realizations of second order elliptic differential expressions with non-local Robin boundary conditions on a domain $Ω\subset\dR^n$ with smooth compact boundary are studied. A Schatten--von Neumann type estimate for the singular values of the difference of the $m$th powers of the resolvents of two Robin realizations is obtained, and for $m>\tfrac{n}{2}-1$ it is shown that the resolvent power difference is a trace class operator. The estimates are slightly stronger than the classical singular value estimates by M. Sh. Birman where one of the Robin realizations is repla…
In the spectral theory of positive elliptic operators, an important role is played by certain smoothing kernels, related to the Fourier transform of the trace of a wave operator, which may be heuristically interpreted as smoothed spectral projectors asymptotically drifting to the right of the spectrum. In the setting of Toeplitz quantization, we consider analogues of these, where the wave operator is replaced by the Hardy space compression of a linearized Hamiltonian flow, possibly composed with a family of zeroth order Toeplitz operators. We study the local asymptotics of these smoothing kern…
The paper is a continuation of the study started in \cite{Yorzh1}. Schrodinger operators on finite compact metric graphs are considered under the assumption that the matching conditions at the graph vertices are of $δ$ type. Either an infinite series of trace formulae (provided that edge potentials are infinitely smooth) or a finite number of such formulae (in the cases of $L_1$ and $C^M$ edge potentials) are obtained which link together two different quantum graphs under the assumption that their spectra coincide. Applications are given to the problem of recovering matching conditions for a q…
Let $(M,J,ω)$ be a quantizable compact Kähler manifold, with quantizing Hermitian line bundle $(A,h)$, and associated Hardy space $H(X)$, where $X$ is the unit circle bundle. Given a collection of $r$ Poisson commuting quantizable Hamiltonian functions $f_j$ on $M$, there is an induced Abelian unitary action on $H(X)$, generated by certain Töplitz operators naturally induced by the $f_j$'s. As a multi-dimensional analogue of the usual Weyl law and trace formula, we consider the problem of describing the asymptotic clustering of the joint eigenvalues of these Töplitz operators along a given ray…
In this note we present the metric approximation property for weighted mixed-norm $L_w^{(p_1,\dots ,p_n)}$ and variable exponent Lebesgue type spaces. As a consequence, this also implies the same property for modulation and Wiener-Amalgam spaces. We then characterise nuclear operators on such spaces and state the corresponding Grothendieck-Lidskii trace formulae. We apply the obtained results to derive criteria for nuclearity and trace formulae for periodic operators on $\mathbb R^n$ and functions of the harmonic oscillator in terms of the global symbol.
In this paper we prove the bounded approximation property for variable exponent Lebesgue spaces, study the concept of nuclearity on such spaces and apply it to trace formulae such as the Grothendieck-Lidskii formula. We apply the obtained results to derive criteria for nuclearity and trace formulae for periodic operators on $\mathbb R^n$ in terms of global symbols.
We derive inequalities for sums of eigenvalues of Schrödinger operators on finite intervals and tori. In the first of these cases, the inequalities converge to the classical trace formulae in the limit as the number of eigenvalues considered approaches infinity.
We apply recent results on semi-classical trace formulae and on Birkhoff normal forms for semi-classical Fourier integral operators to a wide range of semi-classical and high energy spectral inverse problems.
We show how a matrix version of the Buslaev-Faddeev-Zakharov trace formulae for a one-dimensional Schrödinger operator leads to Lieb-Thirring inequalities with sharp constants $L^{cl}_{γ,d}$ with $γ\ge 3/2$ and arbitrary $d\ge 1$. (revised, to appear in Acta Math)
