Denote by $M_n$ the algebra of $n\times n$ matrices. We consider the dyadic paraproducts $π_b$ associated with $M_n$ valued functions $b$, and show that the $L^\infty (M_n)$ norm of $b$ does not dominate $||π_b||_{L^2(\ell _n^2)\to L^2(\ell_n^2)}$ uniformly over $n$. We also consider paraproducts associated with noncommutative martingales and prove that their boundedness on bounded noncommutative $L^p-$% martingale spaces implies their boundedness on bounded noncommutative $L^q-$% martingale spaces for all $1<p<q<\infty $.
We consider the dyadic paraproducts $π_\f$ on $\T$ associated with an $\M$-valued function $\f.$ Here $\T$ is the unit circle and $\M$ is a tracial von Neumann algebra. We prove that their boundedness on $L^p(\T,L^p(\M))$ for some $1<p<\infty $ implies their boundedness on $L^p(\T,L^p(\M))$ for all $1<p<\infty$ provided $\f$ is in an operator-valued BMO space. We also consider a modified version of dyadic paraproducts and their boundedness on $L^p(\T,L^p(\M)).
We define a scale of L^q Carleson norms, all of which characterize the membership of a function in BMO. The phenomenon is analogous to the John-Nirenberg inequality, but on the level of Carleson measures. The classical Carleson condition corresponds to the L^2 case in our theory. The result is applied to give a new proof for the L^p-boundedness of paraproducts with a BMO symbol. A novel feature of the argument is that all p are covered at once in a completely interpolation-free manner. This is achieved by using the L^1 Carleson norm, and indicates the usefulness of this notion. Our approach is…
Recently it turned out that the paraproduct plays the key role in some highly singular partial differential equations. In this note the counterparts for Besov--Morrey spaces are obtained. This note is organized in a self-contained manner.
We consider BMO spaces of operator-valued functions, among them the space of operator-valued functions $B$ which define a bounded paraproduct on $L^2(H)$. We obtain several equivalent formulations of $\|π_B\|$ in terms of the norm of the "sweep" function of $B$ or of averages of the norms of martingales transforms of $B$ in related spaces. Furthermore, we investigate a connection between John-Nirenberg type inequalities and Carleson-type inequalities via a product formula for paraproducts and deduce sharp dimensional estimates for John-Nirenberg type inequalities.
Calderón-Zygmund operators with noncommuting kernels may fail to be Lp-bounded for $p \neq 2$, even for kernels with good size and smoothness properties. Matrix-valued paraproducts, Fourier multipliers on group vNa's or noncommutative martingale transforms are frameworks where we find such difficulties. We obtain weak type estimates for perfect dyadic CZO's and cancellative Haar shifts associated to noncommuting kernels in terms of a row/column decomposition of the function. Arbitrary CZO's satisfy $H_1 \to L_1$ type estimates. In conjunction with $L_\infty \to BMO$, we get certain row/column …
We introduce the so called convex body valued sparse operators, which generalize the notion of sparse operators to the case of spaces of vector valued functions. We prove that Calderón--Zygmund operators as well as Haar shifts and paraproducts can be dominated by such operators. By estimating sparse operators we obtain weighted estimates with matrix weights. We get two weight $A_2$-$A_\infty$ estimates, that in the one weight case give us the estimate $$ \|T\|_{L^2(W)\to L^2 (W)} \le C [W]_{A_2}^{1/2} [W]_{A_\infty} \le C[W]_{A_2}^{3/2} $$ where $T$ is either a Calderon--Zygmund operator (with…
The natural BMO (bounded mean oscillation) conditions suggested by scalar-valued results are known to be insufficient for the boundedness of operator-valued paraproducts. Accordingly, the boundedness of operator-valued singular integrals has only been available under versions of the classical ``$T(1)\in BMO$'' assumptions that are not easily checkable. Recently, Hong, Liu and Mei (J. Funct. Anal. 2020) observed that the situation improves remarkably for singular integrals with a symmetry assumption, so that a classical $T(1)$ criterion still guarantees their $L^2$-boundedness on Hilbert space …
J. L. Rubio de Francia proved the one-sided Littlewood--Paley inequality for arbitrary intervals in $L^p$, $2\le p<\infty$ and later N. N. Osipov proved the similar inequality for Walsh functions. In this paper we investigate some properties of Banach spaces $X$ such that the latter inequality holds for $X$-valued functions.
We present a generalization of the Radon-Riesz property to sequences of continuous functions with values in uniformly convex and uniformly smooth Banach spaces.
In this work we introduce the spaces $L^p_{w}(ν; X; Y)$ for the case where $ν$ is a vector measure and the functions are vector-valued. We establish fundamental properties for such spaces.
In this paper, we investigate the general form of surjective (not necessarily linear) isometries T : A-> B between subspaces A and B of C(X;E) and C(Y;F), respectively.
The property of isotonicity of a continuous convex function defined on the entire space or only on the positive cone is characterized via subdifferentials. Numerous examples illustrating the obtained results are included.
In this note we provide a self-contained proof of an existence and uniqueness result for a class of Banach space valued evolution equations with an additive forcing term. The framework of our abstract result includes, for example, finite dimensional ordinary differential equations (ODEs), semilinear deterministic partial differential equations (PDEs), as well as certain additive noise driven stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) as special cases. The framework of our general result assumes somehow mild regularity conditions on the involved semigroup and also allows the involved sem…
We introduce the notion of an ACF space, that is, a space for which a generalized version of M. Riesz's theorem for conjugate functions with values in the Banach space is bounded. We use transference to prove that spaces for which the Hilbert transform is bounded, iė\. $X\in\text{HT}$, are ACF spaces. We then show that Bourgain's proof of $X\in\text{HT}\implies X\in\text{UMD}$ is a consequence of this result.
In this note we show that the well known coincidence results for scalar-valued homogeneous polynomials can not be generalized in some natural directions.
We study Henstock-type integrals for functions defined in a Radon measure space and taking values in a Banach lattice $X$. Both the single-valued case and the multivalued one are considered (in the last case mainly $cwk(X)$-valued mappings are discussed). The main tool to handle the multivalued case is a Rådström-type embedding theorem established in [50]: in this way we reduce the norm-integral to that of a single-valued function taking values in an $M$-space and we easily obtain new proofs for some decomposition results recently stated in [33,36], based on the existence of integrable selecti…
Analytic functions defined on a tube domain $T^{C}\subset \mathbb{C}^{n}$ and taking values in a Banach space $X$ which are known to have $X$-valued distributional boundary values are shown to be in the Hardy space $H^{p}(T^{C},X)$ if the boundary value is in the vector valued Lebesgue space $L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^{n},X)$, where $1\leq p \leq \infty$ and $C$ is a regular open convex cone. Poisson integral transform representations of elements of $H^{p}(T^{C}, X)$ are also obtained for certain classes of Banach spaces, including reflexive Banach spaces.
We present an abstract approach to the abscissas of convergence of vector-valued Dirichlet series. As a consequence we deduce that the abscissas for Hardy spaces of Dirichlet series are all equal. We also introduce and study weak versions of the abscissas for scalar-valued Dirichlet series.
In this short note, we merge the areas of hypercomplex algebras with that of fractal interpolation and approximation. The outcome is a new holistic methodology that allows the modelling of phenomena exhibiting a complex self-referential geometry and which require for their description an underlying algebraic structure.
In this note, we propose an unbalanced version of the quantum mechanical version of optimal mass transport that was based on the Lindblad equation. We formulate a natural interpolation framework between density matrices and matrix-valued measures via a quantum mechanical formulation of Fisher-Rao information and the matricial Wasserstein distance.
The note shows that the operator-valued Hardy space $\sH^1$ introduced via Littlewood-Paley $g$-function coincides with the space of $H^1_R(\T, \sL^1)$ of all Bochner integrable operator-valued functions with integrable analytic part. The proof is based on the noncommutative maximal inequality for Poisson group.
We provide a version of the stochastic Fubini's theorem which does not depend on the particular stochastic integrator chosen as far as the stochastic integration is built as a continuous linear operator from an $L^p$ space of Banach space-valued processes (the stochastically integrable processes) to an $L^p$ space of Banach space-valued paths (the integrated processes). Then, for integrators on a Hilbert space $H$, we consider stochastic convolutions with respect to a strongly continuous map $R:(0,T]\rightarrow L(H)$, not necessarily a semigroup. We prove existence of predictable versions of s…
In this note we define and study a Hilbert space-valued stochastic integral of operator-valued functions with respect to Hilbert space-valued measures. We show that this integral generalizes the classical Ito stochastic integral of adapted processes with respect to normal martingales and the Ito integral in a Fock space
The aim of this paper is to prove an improved version of the bounded differences inequality for matrix valued functions, by developing the methods of Mackey et al.: "Matrix Concentration Inequalities via the Method of Exchangeable Pairs". Along the way, we prove new trace inequalities for the matrix exponential.
A uniformly continuously integrable sequence of real-valued measurable functions, defined on some probability space, is relatively compact in the $σ(L^1,L^\infty)$ topology. In this paper, we link such a result to weak convergence theory of bounded measures as exposed in Billingsley (1968) and in Lo(2021) to offer a detailed and new proof using the ideas beneath the proof of prohorov's theorem where the continuous integrability replaces the uniform or asymptotic tightness.
26 different concrete representations of the space of vector valued distributions on a smooth manifold of dimension n are presented systematically, most of them new. In the particular case of representations as module homomorphisms acting on sections of the dual bundle resp. on n-forms, the continuity of these homomorphisms is already a consequence of their algebraic properties.
Given a real-valued function defined on the Heisenberg group, we provide a definition of abstract convexity and Fenchel transform that takes into account the sub-Riemannian structure of the group. In our main result, we prove that, likewise the Euclidean case, a convex function can be characterized via its iterated Fenchel transform; the properties of the H-subdifferential play a crucial role.
In this note we present some abstract ideas how one can construct spaces from building blocks according to a graph. The coupling is expressed via boundary pairs, and can be applied to very different spaces such as discrete graphs, quantum graphs or graph-like manifolds. We show a spectral analysis of graph-like spaces, and consider as a special case vector-valued quantum graphs. Moreover, we provide a prototype of a convergence theorem for shrinking graph-like spaces with Dirichlet boundary conditions. (Dedicated to Pavel Exner's 70th birthday)
Almost sure linear independence of absolutely continuous Hilbert space-valued random vectors with respect to a special class of Hilbert space probability measures
