We give a criterion for the cohomological dimension of a field, involving norm maps on Milnor K-theory; this criterion was originally formulated by Kato. The theorem we prove is a generalization of a theorem in Serre's book on Galois cohomology.

Hochschild Cohomological Dimension is Not Upper Semi-Continuous

It is shown that the Hochschild Cohomological dimension of an associative algebra is not an upper-semi continuous function, showing the semi-continuity theorem is no longer valid for non-commutative algebras. A family of $\mathbb{C}$ exhibits this-algebras parameterized by $\mathbb{C}$ all but one of which has Hochschild cohomological dimension $2$ and the other having Hochschild cohomological dimension $1$.

On the Rost divisibility of henselian discrete valuation fields of cohomological dimension 3

Let $F$ be a field, $\ell$ a prime and $D$ a central division $F$-algebra of $\ell$-power degree. Homogeneous spaces, algebraic $K$-theory and cohomological dimension of fields

Let $q$ be a non-negative integer. We prove that a perfect field $K$ has cohomological dimension at most $q+1$ if, and only if, for any finite extension $L$ of $K$ and for any homogeneous space $Z$ under a smooth linear connected algebraic group over $L$, the $q$-th Milnor $K$-theory group of $L$ is spanned by the images of the norms coming from finite extensions of $L$ over which $Z$ has a rational point. We also prove a variant of this result for imperfect fields.

A Lower-Bound on the Hochschild Cohomological Dimension

A concrete lower-bound for the Hochschild cohomological dimension of a commutative $k$-algebra, in terms of three other homological invariants is obtained. This result is then used to show that most $k$-algebras fail to be quasi-free, even if they are smooth. This result generalizes a result of \cite{cuntz1995algebra} to the case where the base-ring is no longer $\cc$ but can be any commutative ring with unity.

On the monoidal invariance of the cohomological dimension of Hopf algebras

We discuss the question of whether the global dimension is a monoidal invariant for Hopf algebras, in the sense that if two Hopf algebras have equivalent monoidal categories of comodules, then their global dimensions should be equal. We provide several positive new answers to this question, under various assumptions of smoothness, cosemisimplicity or finite dimension.
