We discuss $p$-adic unipotent Albanese maps for curves of positive genus, extending the theory of $p$-adic multiple polylogarithms. This construction is then used to relate linear Diophantine conjectures of `Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer type' to non-linear theorems of Faltings-Siegel type.

The l-component of the unipotent Albanese map

We study the \Q_p-unipotent Albanese map for curves over local fields with residue characteristic different from p and show that it has finite image. As a corollary, we deduce a simple `pi_1'-proof of Siegel's theorem for rank 1 elliptic curves minus the origin.

Functional transcendence for the unipotent Albanese map

We prove a certain transcendence property of the unipotent Albanese map of a smooth variety, conditional on the Ax-Schanuel conjecture for variations of mixed Hodge structure. We show that this property allows the Chabauty-Kim method to be generalized to higher-dimensional varieties. In particular, we conditionally generalize several of the main Diophantine finiteness results in Chabauty-Kim theory to arbitrary number fields.

The Cassels-Tate pairing on 2-Selmer groups of elliptic curves

We explicitly compute the Cassels-Tate pairing on the 2-Selmer group of an elliptic curve using the Albanese-Albanese definition of the pairing given by Poonen and Stoll. This leads to a new proof that a pairing defined by Cassels on the 2-Selmer groups of elliptic curves agrees with the Cassels-Tate pairing.

Computation of the Unipotent Albanese Map on Elliptic and Hyperelliptic Curves

We study the unipotent Albanese map appearing in the non-abelian Chabauty method of Minhyong Kim. In particular we explore the explicit computation of the $p$-adic de Rham period map $j^{dr}_n$ on elliptic and hyperelliptic curves over number fields via their universal unipotent connections $\mathcal{U}$. Several algorithms forming part of the computation of finite level versions $j^{dr}_n$ of the unipotent Albanese maps are presented. The local theory of unipotent Kummer maps and refined Selmer schemes

We study the Galois action on paths in the $\mathbb{Q}_\ell$-pro-unipotent étale fundamental groupoid of a hyperbolic curve $X$ over a $p$-adic field with $\ell\neq p$. We prove an Oda--Tamagawa-type criterion for the existence of a Galois-invariant path in terms of the reduction of $X$, as well as an anabelian reconstruction result determining the stable reduction type of $X$ in terms of its fundamental groupoid. Selmer varieties for curves with CM Jacobians

We study the Selmer variety associated to a canonical quotient of the $\Q_p$-pro-unipotent fundamental group of a smooth projective curve of genus at least two defined over $\Q$ whose Jacobian decomposes into a product of abelian varieties with complex multiplication. Elementary multi-variable Iwasawa theory is used to prove dimension bounds, which, in turn, lead to a new proof of Diophantine finiteness over $\Q$ for such curves.

Albanese varieties with modulus over a perfect field

Let X be a smooth proper variety over a perfect field k of arbitrary characteristic. Let D be an effective divisor on X with multiplicity. A non-abelian conjecture of Tate-Shafarevich type for hyperbolic curves

We state a conjectural criterion for identifying global integral points on a hyperbolic curve over $\mathbb{Z}$ in terms of Selmer schemes inside non-abelian cohomology functors with coefficients in $\mathbb{Q}_p$-unipotent fundamental groups. For $\mathbb{P}^1\setminus \{0,1,\infty\}$ and the complement of the origin in semi-stable elliptic curves of rank 0, we compute the local image of global Selmer schemes, which then allows us to numerically confirm our conjecture in a wide range of cases.
