Given a finitely aligned $k$-graph $Λ$, we let $Λ^i$ denote the $(k-1)$-graph formed by removing all edges of degree $e_i$ from $Λ$. Here we give an overview on the connection between wavelet theory and representation theory for graph $C^{\ast}$-algebras, including the higher-rank graph $C^*$-algebras of A. Kumjian and D. Pask. Many authors have studied different aspects of this connection over the last 20 years, and we begin this paper with a survey of the known results. We then discuss several new ways to generalize these results and obtain wavelets associated to representations of higher-rank graphs. We prove that if $ρ$ is an adapted positive definite function in the Fourier--Stieltjes algebra $B(G)$ of a locally compact group $G$ with $\|ρ\|_{B(G)}=1$, then the iterated powers $(ρ^n)$ converge to zero in the weak* topology $σ(B(G) , C^*(G))$. Moreover, if $ρ$ is irreducible, we prove that $(ρ^n)$ as a sequence of u.c.p. maps on the group $C^*$-algebra converges to zero in the strong operator topology.

We review Kajiwara and Watatani's construction of a C*-algebra from an iterated function system (IFS). If the IFS satisfies the finite branch condition or the open set condition, we build an injective homomorphism from Kajiwara-Watatani algebras to the Cuntz algebra, which can be thought as the algebra of the lifted system, and we give the description of its image. In this paper we show how wavelets originating from multiresolution analysis of scale N give rise to certain representations of the Cuntz algebras O_N, and conversely how the wavelets can be recovered from these representations. The representations are given on the Hilbert space L^2(T) by (S_iξ)(z)=m_i(z)ξ(z^N). We characterize the Wold decomposition of such operators. We report on a rigorous operator-algebraic renormalization group scheme and construct the continuum free field as the scaling limit of Hamiltonian lattice systems using wavelet theory. A renormalization group step is determined by the scaling equation identifying lattice observables with the continuum field smeared by compactly supported wavelets. Causality follows from Lieb-Robinson bounds for harmonic lattice systems. The scheme is related with the multi-scale entanglement renormalization ansatz and augments the semi-continuum limit of quantum systems.
We study the boundedness of Toeplitz-type operators defined in the context of the Calderón reproducing formula considering the specific wavelets whose Fourier transforms are related to Laguerre polynomials. We study Toeplitz-type operators with respect to specific wavelets whose Fourier transforms are related to Laguerre polynomials. On the one hand, this choice of wavelets underlines the fact that these operators acting on wavelet subspaces share many properties with the classical Toeplitz operators acting on the Bergman spaces. We construct representations of a q-oscillator algebra by operators on Fock space on positive matrices. They emerge from a multiresolution scaling construction used in wavelet analysis. The representations of the Cuntz Algebra arising from this multiresolution analysis are contained as a special case in the Fock Space construction.
We show that the representations of the Cuntz C$^\ast$-algebras $O_n$ which arise in wavelet analysis and dilation theory can be classified through a simple analysis of completely positive maps on finite-dimensional space. We show that every biorthogonal wavelet determines a representation by operators on Hilbert space satisfying simple identities, which captures the established relationship between orthogonal wavelets and Cuntz-algebra representations in that special case. Each of these representations is shown to have tractable finite-dimensional co-invariant doubly-cyclic subspaces. Further, motivated by these representations, we introduce a general Fock-space Hilbert space construction which yields creation operators containing the Cuntz--Toeplitz isometries as a special case.
