In connection to wavelet theory, we describe the peripheral spectrum of the transfer operator. The solution involves the analysis of certain representations of the algebra generated by two unitaries $U$ and $T$ that satisfy the commutation relation $UTU^{-1}=T^N$.

Operator-algebraic renormalization and wavelets

We report on a rigorous operator-algebraic renormalization group scheme and construct the continuum free field as the scaling limit of Hamiltonian lattice systems using wavelet theory. A renormalization group step is determined by the scaling equation identifying lattice observables with the continuum field smeared by compactly supported wavelets. Causality follows from Lieb-Robinson bounds for harmonic lattice systems. The scheme is related with the multi-scale entanglement renormalization ansatz and augments the semi-continuum limit of quantum systems.

Wavelets from Laguerre polynomials and Toeplitz-type operators

We study Toeplitz-type operators with respect to specific wavelets whose Fourier transforms are related to Laguerre polynomials. On the one hand, this choice of wavelets underlines the fact that these operators acting on wavelet subspaces share many properties with the classical Toeplitz operators acting on the Bergman spaces. On the other hand, it enables to study poly-Bergman spaces and Toeplitz operators acting on them from a different perspective. Wavelet representations and Fock space on positive matrices

We show that every biorthogonal wavelet determines a representation by operators on Hilbert space satisfying simple identities, which captures the established relationship between orthogonal wavelets and Cuntz-algebra representations in that special case. Each of these representations is shown to have tractable finite-dimensional co-invariant doubly-cyclic subspaces. Further, motivated by these representations, we introduce a general Fock-space Hilbert space construction which yields creation operators containing the Cuntz--Toeplitz isometries as a special case.

Isometries, shifts, Cuntz algebras and multiresolution wavelet analysis of scale N

In this paper we show how wavelets originating from multiresolution analysis of scale N give rise to certain representations of the Cuntz algebras O_N, and conversely how the wavelets can be recovered from these representations. The representations are given on the Hilbert space L^2(T) by (S_iξ)(z)=m_i(z)ξ(z^N). We characterize the Wold decomposition of such operators. If the operators come from wavelets they are shifts, and this can be used to realize the representation on a certain Hardy space over L^2(T).
