A sufficient condition for a cluster point of a planar harmonic function to be an asymptotic value is given, based on a partitioning into regions of constant valence. A sufficient condition for the cluster set of a planar harmonic function to have non-empty interior is given. An example is given of a planar harmonic function where the image of the critical set is not closed and such that the cluster set has non-empty interior and is a proper subset of the image.
In this paper, we first establish the Schwarz-Pick lemma of higher-order and apply it to obtain a univalency criteria for planar harmonic mappings. Then we discuss distortion theorems, Lipschitz continuity and univalency of planar harmonic mappings defined in the unit disk with linearly connected images.
In this paper, we investigate the properties of locally univalent and multivalent planar harmonic mappings. First, we discuss the coefficient estimates and Landau's Theorem for some classes of locally univalent harmonic mappings, and then we study some Lipschitz-type spaces for locally univalent and multivalent harmonic mappings.
In this paper, we investigate some properties of planar harmonic mappings. First, we generalize the main results in \cite{CPW3} and \cite{HT}, and then discuss the relationship between area integral means and harmonic Hardy spaces or harmonic weighted Bergman spaces. At the end, coefficient estimates of mappings in weighted Bergman spaces are obtained.
In this paper, we give a negative answer to a problem presented by Bharanedhar and Ponnusamy (Rocky Mountain J. Math. 44: 753--777, 2014) concerning univalency of a class of harmonic mappings. More precisely, we show that for all values of the involved parameter, this class contains a non-univalent function. Moreover, several results on a new subclass of close-to-convex harmonic mappings, which is motivated by work of Ponnusamy and Sairam Kaliraj (Mediterr. J. Math. 12: 647--665, 2015), are obtained.
A sharp version of a recent inequality of Kovalev and Yang on the ratio of the $(H^1)^\ast$ and $H^4$ norms for certain polynomials is obtained. The inequality is applied to establish a sharp and tractable sufficient condition for the Wirtinger derivatives at the origin for harmonic self-maps of the unit disc which fix the origin.
In a work in 1992, Lyzzaik studies local properties of light harmonic mappings. More precisely, he classifies their critical points and accordingly studies their topological and geometrical behaviours. We will focus our study on smooth critical points of light harmonic maps. We will establish several relationships between miscellaneous local invariants, and show how to connect them to Lyzzaik's models. With a crucial use of Milnor fibration theory, we get a fundamental and yet quite unexpected relation between three of the numerical invariants, namely the complex multiplicity, the local order …
In this paper, we establish a three circles type theorem, involving the harmonic area function, for harmonic mappings. Also, we give bounds for length and area distortion for harmonic quasiconformal mappings. Finally, we will study certain Lipschitz-type spaces on harmonic mappings.
We discuss various representations of planar $p$-harmonic systems of equations and their solutions. For coordinate functions of $p$-harmonic maps we analyze signs of their Hessians, the Gauss curvature of $p$-harmonic surfaces, the length of level curves as well as we discuss curves of steepest descent. The isoperimetric inequality for the level curves of coordinate functions of planar $p$-harmonic maps is proven. Our main techniques involve relations between quasiregular maps and planar PDEs. We generalize some results due to P. Lindqvist, G. Alessandrini, G. Talenti and P. Laurence.
If $Ω$ is a simply connected domain in $\overline{\mathbb C}$ then, according to the Ahlfors-Gehring theorem, $Ω$ is a quasidisk if and only if there exists a sufficient condition for the univalence of holomorphic functions in $Ω$ in relation to the growth of their Schwarzian derivative. We extend this theorem to harmonic mappings by proving a univalence criterion on quasidisks. We also show that the mappings satisfying this criterion admit a homeomorphic extension to $\overline{\mathbb C}$ and, under the additional assumption of quasiconformality in $Ω$, they admit a quasiconformal extension …
In this paper, we first study the bounded mean oscillation of planar harmonic mappings, then a relationship between Lipschitz-type spaces and equivalent modulus of real harmonic mappings is established. At last, we obtain sharp estimates on Lipschitz number of planar harmonic mappings in terms of bounded mean oscillation norm, which shows that the harmonic Bloch space is isomorphic to $BMO_{2}$ as a Banach space..
Let $ψ$ be a conformal map of $\mathbb{D}$ onto an unbounded domain and, for $α>0$, let ${F_α}=\left\{ {z \in \mathbb{D}:\left| {ψ\left( z \right)} \right| = α} \right\}$. If $ω_\mathbb{D}\left( {0,{F_α}} \right)$ denotes the harmonic measure at $0$ of $F_α$ and $d_\mathbb{D} {\left( {0,{F_α}} \right)}$ denotes the hyperbolic distance between $0$ and $F_α$ in $\mathbb{D}$, then an application of the Beurling-Nevanlinna projection theorem implies that ${ω_\mathbb{D}}\left( {0,{F_α}} \right) \ge \frac{2}{π}{e^{ - {d_\mathbb{D}}\left( {0,{F_α}} \right)}}$. Thus a natural question, first stated by…
Let $f(z)=h(z)+\overline{g(z)}$ be a harmonic mapping of the unit disk $U$. In this paper, the sharp coefficient estimates for bounded planar harmonic mappings are established, the sharp coefficient estimates for normalized planar harmonic mappings with $|h(z)|+|g(z)|\leq M$ are also provided. As their applications, Landau's theorems for certain biharmonic mappings are provided, which improve and refine the related results of earlier authors.
The article is devoted to the geometry of solutions to the chordal Loewner equation which is based on the comparison of singular solutions and harmonic measures for the sides of a slit in the upper half-plane generated by a driving term. An asymptotic ratio for harmonic measures of slit sides is found for a slit which is tangential to a straight line under a given angle, and for a slit with high order tangency to a circular arc tangential to the real axis.
For~weights $ρ$ which are either radial on the unit ball or depend only on the vertical coordinate on the upper half-space, we describe the asymptotic behaviour of the corresponding weighted harmonic Bergman kernels with respect to $ρ^α$ as $α\to+\infty$. This can be compared to the analogous situation for the holomorphic case, which is of importance in the Berezin quantization as well as in complex geometry.
In 1936 H. Lewy showed that the Jacobian determinant of a harmonic homeomorphism between planar domains does not vanish and thus the map is a diffeomorphism. This built on the earlier existence results of Radó and Kneser. R. Shoen and S.T. Yau generalised this result to degree 1 harmonic mappings between closed Riemann surfaces. Here we give a new approach that establishes all these results in complete generality.
We give an explicit relation between the slope of the trajectory of a semigroup of holomorphic functions and the harmonic measure of the associated planar domain ${\varOmega}$. We use this to construct a semigroup whose slope is an arbitrary interval in $ [π/2,-π/2] $. The same method is used for the slope of a backward trajectory approaching a super-repulsive fixed point.
We establish two-point distortion theorems for sense-preserving planar harmonic mappings $f=h+\overline{g}$ which satisfies the univalence criteria in the unit disc such that, Becker's and Nehari`s harmonic version. In addition, we find the sharp two-point distortion theorem when $h$ is a convex function, and normalized mappings such that $h(\D)$ is a $c$-linearly connected domain. To do this, we use the order of this family.
The valence of a function $f$ at a point $w$ is the number of distinct, finite solutions to $f(z) = w$. Let $f$ be a complex-valued harmonic function in an open set $R \subseteq \mathbb{C}$. Let $S$ denote the critical set of $f$ and $C(f)$ the global cluster set of $f$. We show that $f(S) \cup C(f)$ partitions the complex plane into regions of constant valence. We give some conditions such that $f(S) \cup C(f)$ has empty interior. We also show that a component $R_0 \subseteq R \backslash f^{-1}(f(S) \cup C(f))$ is a $n_0$-fold covering of some component $Ω_0 \subseteq \mathbb{C} \backslash (f…
We derive asymptotic estimates at infinity for positive harmonic functions in a large class of non-smooth unbounded domains. These include domains whose sections, after rescaling, resemble a Lipschitz cylinder or a Lipschitz cone, e.g., various paraboloids and horns.
We prove a version of strong asymptotics of Christoffel functions with varying weights for a general class of sets E and measures in the complex plane. This class includes all regular measures in the sense of Stahl-Totik on regular compact sets E in the plane and even allows varying weights. Our main theorems cover some known results for subsets E of the real line R; in particular, we recover information in the case of E=R with Lebesgue measure dx and weight w(x) = exp(-Q(x)) where Q(x) is a nonnegative, even degree polynomial having positive leading coefficient.
We prove that the distortion function of the Gauss map of a harmonic surface coincides with the distortion function of the surface. Consequently, Gauss map of a harmonic surface is ${\mathcal{K}}$ quasiregular if and only if the surface is ${\mathcal{K}}$ quasiregular, provided that the Gauss map is regular or what is shown to be the same, provided that the surface is non-planar.
For analytic functions in the unit disk, general bounds on the Schwarzian derivative in terms of Nehari functions are shown to imply uniform local univalence and in some cases finite and bounded valence. Similar results are obtained for the Weierstrass--Enneper lifts of planar harmonic mappings to their associated minimal surfaces. Finally certain classes of harmonic mappings are shown to have finite Schwarzian norm.
