Starting from a split semisimple real Lie group G with trivial center, we define a family of varieties with additional structures. We describe them as the cluster X-varieties, as defined in math.AG/0311245. In particular they are Poisson varieties. We define Poisson maps of them to the group G with the standard Poisson-Lie structure.
We introduce an operation of amalgamation of cluster varieties. Our varieties are amalgamations of elementary ones, assigned to positive simple roots of the root system of G. Some of them are very closely related to the double Bruhat cells. This paper is a building block in a description of the cluster structure of the moduli spaces of local systems on surfaces studied in math.AG/0311149.
Short survey based on talk at the Poisson 2012 conference. The main aim is to describe and give some examples of wild character varieties (naturally generalising the character varieties of Riemann surfaces by allowing more complicated behaviour at the boundary), their Poisson/symplectic structures (generalising both the Atiyah-Bott approach and the quasi-Hamiltonian approach), and the wild mapping class groups.
This is a continuation of math.AG/0609741. Let Y be an affine symplectic variety with a C^*-action with positive weights, and let π: X -> Y be its crepant resolution. Then πinduces a natural map PDef(X) -> PDef(Y) of Kuranishi spaces for the Poisson deformations of X and Y. In the Part I, we proved that PDef(X) and PDef(Y) are both non-singular, and this map is a finite surjective map. In this paper (Part II), we prove that it is a Galois covering. Markman already obtained a similar result in the compact case, which was a motivation of this paper. As an application, we shall construct explicit…
This work pursues a circle of Lie-theoretic ideas involving Hessenberg varieties, Poisson geometry, and wonderful compactifications. In more detail, one may associate a symplectic Hamiltonian $G$-variety $μ:G\times\mathcal{S}\longrightarrow\mathfrak{g}$ to each complex semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ with adjoint group $G$ and fixed Kostant section $\mathcal{S}\subseteq\mathfrak{g}$. This variety is one of Bielawski's hyperkähler slices, and it is central to Moore and Tachikawa's work on topological quantum field theories. It also bears a close relation to two log symplectic Hamiltonian …
In the prequel of this paper, we have associated a family of cluster X-varieties to the dual Poisson-Lie group(G*,π_*) of (G,π_G) when (G,π_G) is a complex semi-simple Lie group of adjoint type, given with the standard Poisson structure π_G and π_* is the "dual" Poisson structure defined by the Semenov-Tian-Shansky Poisson bracket on G. We describe here the cluster combinatorics involved into the Artin group action on G* given by the De-Concini-Kac-Procesi Poisson automorphisms.
A family of new algebraic Poisson varieties will be constructed, generalising the complex character varieties of Riemann surfaces. Then the well-known (Poisson) mapping class group actions on the character varieties will be generalised.
We associate a family of cluster X-varieties to the dual Poisson-Lie group G* of a complex semi-simple Lie group G of adjoint type given with the standard Poisson structure. This family is described by the W-permutohedron associated to the Lie algebra g of G: vertices being labeled by cluster X-varieties and edges by new Poisson birational isomorphisms, on appropriate seed X-tori, called saltation. The underlying combinatorics is based on a factorization of the Fomin-Zelevinsky twist maps into mutations and other new Poisson birational isomorphisms on seed X-tori called tropicalmutations, asso…
The purpose of this paper is to bring together various loose ends in the theory of integrable systems. For a semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$, we obtain several results on completeness of homogeneous Poisson-commutative subalgebras of ${\mathcal S}(\mathfrak g)$ on coadjoint orbits. This concerns, in particular, Mishchenko-Fomenko and Gelfand-Tsetlin subalgebras.
The standard Poisson structures on the flag varieties G/P of a complex reductive algebraic group G are investigated. It is shown that the orbits of symplectic leaves in G/P under a fixed maximal torus of G are smooth irreducible locally closed subvarieties of G/P, isomorphic to intersections of dual Schubert cells in the full flag variety G/B of G, and their Zariski closures are explicitly computed. Two different proofs of the former result are presented. The first is in the framework of Poisson homogeneous spaces and the second one uses an idea of weak splittings of surjective Poisson submers…

It was established by Boalch that Euler continuants arise as Lie group valued moment maps for a class of wild character varieties described as moduli spaces of points on $\mathbb{P}^1$ by Sibuya. Furthermore, Boalch noticed that these varieties are multiplicative analogues of certain Nakajima quiver varieties originally introduced by Calabi, which are attached to the quiver $Γ_n$ on two vertices and $n$ equioriented arrows. In this article, we go a step further by unveiling that the Sibuya varieties can be understood using noncommutative quasi-Poisson geometry modeled on the quiver $Γ_n$. We p…
Using the wonderful compactification of a semisimple adjoint affine algebraic group G defined over an algebraically closed field k of arbitrary characteristic, we construct a natural compactification Y of the G-character variety of any finitely generated group F. When F is a free group, we show that this compactification is always simply connected with respect to the étale fundamental group, and when k=C it is also topologically simply connected. For other groups F, we describe conditions for the compactification of the moduli space to be simply connected and give examples when these condition…
The standard Poisson structure on the rectangular matrix variety M_{m,n}(C) is investigated, via the orbits of symplectic leaves under the action of the maximal torus T of GL_{m+n}(C). These orbits, finite in number, are shown to be smooth irreducible locally closed subvarieties of M_{m,n}(C), isomorphic to intersections of dual Schubert cells in the full flag variety of GL_{m+n}(C). Three different presentations of the T-orbits of symplectic leaves in M_{m,n}(C) are obtained - (a) as pullbacks of Bruhat cells in GL_{m+n}(C) under a particular map; (b) in terms of rank conditions on rectangula…
Let $G$ be a connected complex semi-simple Lie group, and let $Z_{\bf u}$ be an $n$-dimensional Bott-Samelson variety of $G$, where ${\bf u}$ is any sequence of simple reflections in the Weyl group of $G$. We study the Poisson structure $π_n$ on $Z_{\bf u}$ defined by a standard multiplicative Poisson structure $π_{\rm st}$ on $G$. We explicitly express $π_n$ on each of the $2^n$ affine coordinate charts, one for every subexpression of ${\bf u}$, in terms of the root strings and the structure constants of the Lie algebra of $G$. We show that the restriction of $π_n$ to each affine coordinate c…
Double Bruhat cells $G^{u,v}$ were studied by Fomin and Zelevinsky. They provide important examples of cluster algebras and cluster Poisson varieties. Cluster varieties produce examples of 3d Calabi-Yau categories with stability conditions, and their Donaldson-Thomas invariants, defined by Kontsevich and Soibelman, are encoded by a formal automorphism on the cluster variety known as the Donaldson-Thomas transformation. Goncharov and Shen conjectured in that for any semisimple Lie group $G$, the Donaldson-Thomas transformation of the cluster Poisson variety $H\backslash G^{u,v}/H$ is a slight m…
Given a vertex operator algebra V , one can attach a graded Poisson algebra called the C2-algebra R(V). The associate Poisson scheme provides an important invariant for V and has been studied by Arakawa as the associated variety. In this article, we define and examine the cohomological variety of a vertex algebra, a notion cohomologically dual to that of the associated variety, which measures the smoothness of the associated scheme at the vertex point. We study its basic properties and then construct a closed subvariety of the cohomological variety for rational affine vertex operator algebras …
The Darboux-Weinstein decomposition is a central result in the theory of Poisson (degenerate symplectic) varieties, which gives a local decomposition at a point as a product of the formal neighborhood of the symplectic leaf through the point and a formal slice. Recently, conical symplectic resolutions, and more generally, Poisson cones, have been very actively studied in representation theory and algebraic geometry. This motivates asking for a C*-equivariant version of the Darboux-Weinstein decomposition. In this paper, we develop such a theory, prove basic results on their existence and uniqu…
We introduce a notion of weakly log-canonical Poisson structures on positive varieties with potentials. Such a Poisson structure is log-canonical up to terms dominated by the potential. To a compatible real form of a weakly log-canonical Poisson variety we assign an integrable system on the product of a certain real convex polyhedral cone (the tropicalization of the variety) and a compact torus. We apply this theory to the dual Poisson-Lie group $G^*$ of a simply-connected semisimple complex Lie group $G$. We define a positive structure and potential on $G^*$ and show that the natural Poisson-…
We study a large class of Poisson manifolds, derived from Manin triples, for which we construct explicit partitions into regular Poisson submanifolds by intersecting certain group orbits. Examples include all varieties ${\mathcal L}$ of Lagrangian subalgebras of reductive quadratic Lie algebras $\d$ with Poisson structures defined by Lagrangian splittings of $\d$. In the special case of $\g \oplus \g$, where $\g$ is a complex semi-simple Lie algebra, we explicitly compute the ranks of the Poisson structures on ${\mathcal L}$ defined by arbitrary Lagrangian splittings of ${\mathfrak g} \oplus {…
Let $G$ be a connected semisimple Lie group. There are two natural duality constructions that assign to it the Langlands dual group $G^\vee$ and the Poisson-Lie dual group $G^*$. The main result of this paper is the following relation between these two objects: the integral cone defined by the cluster structure and the Berenstein-Kazhdan potential on the double Bruhat cell $G^{\vee; w_0, e} \subset G^\vee$ is isomorphic to the integral Bohr-Sommerfeld cone defined by the Poisson structure on the partial tropicalization of $K^* \subset G^*$ (the Poisson-Lie dual of the compact form $K \subset G…
The affine Grassmannian associated to a reductive group $\mathbf{G}$ is an affine analogue of the usual flag varieties. It is a rich source of Poisson varieties and their symplectic resolutions. These spaces are examples of conical symplectic resolutions dual to the Nakajima quiver varieties. In this work, we study their quantum connection. We use the stable envelopes of D. Maulik and A. Okounkov[arXiv:1211.1287] to write an explicit formula for this connection. The classical part of the multiplication comes from [arXiv:2210.09967]. The computation of the purely quantum part is done based on t…
Denote the free group on two letters by F2 and the SL(3,C)-representation variety of F2 by R = Hom(F2, SL(3, C)). There is a SL(3,C)-action on the coordinate ring of R, and the geometric points of the subring of invariants is an affine variety X. We determine explicit minimal generators and defining relations for the subring of invariants and show X is a hyper-surface in C9. Our choice of generators exhibit Out(F2) symmetries which allow for a succinct expression of the defining relations. We then show C[X] is a Poisson algebra with respect to a presentation of F2 imposed by a punctured surfac…
Bezrukavnikov and Kaledin introduced quantizations of symplectic varieties X in positive characteristic which endow the Poisson bracket on X with the structure of a restricted Lie algebra. We consider deformation quantization of line bundles on Lagrangian subvarieties Y of X to modules over such quantizations. If the ideal sheaf of Y is a restricted Lie subalgebra of the structure sheaf of X, we show that there is a certain cohomology class which vanishes if and only if a line bundle on Y admits a quantization.
We introduce the process of symplectic reduction along a submanifold as a uniform approach to taking quotients in symplectic geometry. This construction holds in the categories of smooth manifolds, complex analytic spaces, and complex algebraic varieties, and has an interpretation in terms of derived stacks in shifted symplectic geometry. It also encompasses Marsden--Weinstein--Meyer reduction, Mikami--Weinstein reduction, the pre-images of Poisson transversals under moment maps, symplectic cutting, symplectic implosion, and the Ginzburg--Kazhdan construction of Moore--Tachikawa varieties in T…
