Rigged configurations are combinatorial objects originating from the Bethe Ansatz, that label highest weight crystal elements. In this paper a new unrestricted set of rigged configurations is introduced for types ADE by constructing a crystal structure on the set of rigged configurations. In type A an explicit characterization of unrestricted rigged configurations is provided which leads to a new fermionic formula for unrestricted Kostka polynomials or q-supernomial coefficients. The affine crystal structure for type A is obtained as well.
In this paper, we extend work of the first author on a crystal structure on rigged configurations of simply-laced type to all non-exceptional affine types using the technology of virtual rigged configurations and crystals. Under the bijection between rigged configurations and tensor products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals specialized to a single tensor factor, we obtain a new tableaux model for Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals. This is related to the model in terms of Kashiwara-Nakashima tableaux via a filling map, generalizing the recently discovered filling map in type $D_n^{(1)}$.
Recently, the analogue of the promotion operator on crystals of type A under a generalization of the bijection of Kerov, Kirillov and Reshetikhin between crystals (or Littlewood--Richardson tableaux) and rigged configurations was proposed. In this paper, we give a proof of this conjecture. This shows in particular that the bijection between tensor products of type A_n^{(1)} crystals and (unrestricted) rigged configurations is an affine crystal isomorphism.
Hall-Littlewood functions indexed by rectangular partitions, specialized at primitive roots of unity, can be expressed as plethysms. We propose a combinatorial proof of this formula using A. Schilling's bijection between ribbon tableaux and ribbon rigged configurations.
Kerov, Kirillov, and Reshetikhin defined a bijection between highest weight vectors in the crystal graph of a tensor power of the vector representation, and combinatorial objects called rigged configurations, for type $A^{(1)}_n$. We define an analogous bijection for all nonexceptional affine types, thereby proving (in this special case) the fermionic formulas conjectured by Hatayama, Kuniba, Takagi, Tsuboi, Yamada, and the first author.
Extending the work arXiv:math/0508107, we introduce the affine crystal action on rigged configurations which is isomorphic to the Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystal B^{r,s} of type D_n^(1) for any r,s. We also introduce a representation of B^{r,s} (r not equal to n-1,n) in terms of tableaux of rectangular shape r x s, which we coin Kirillov-Reshetikhin tableaux (using a non-trivial analogue of the type A column splitting procedure) to construct a bijection between elements of a tensor product of Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals and rigged configurations.
We establish a bijection between the set of rigged configurations and the set of tensor products of Kirillov--Reshetikhin crystals of type $D^{(1)}_n$ in full generality. We prove the invariance of rigged configurations under the action of the combinatorial $R$-matrix on tensor products and show that the bijection preserves certain statistics (cocharge and energy). As a result, we establish the fermionic formula for type $D_n^{(1)}$. In addition, we establish that the bijection is a classical crystal isomorphism.
A bijection is defined from Littlewood-Richardson tableaux to rigged configurations. It is shown that this map preserves the appropriate statistics, thereby proving a quasi-particle expression for the generalized Kostka polynomials, which are q-analogues of multiplicities in tensor products of irreducible general linear group modules indexed by rectangular partitions.
We establish a bijection between rigged configurations and highest weight elements of a tensor product of Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals for all nonexceptional types. A key idea for the proof is to embed both objects into bigger sets for simply-laced types $A_n^{(1)}$ or $D_n^{(1)}$, whose bijections have already been established. As a consequence we settle the $X=M$ conjecture in full generality for nonexceptional types. Furthermore, the bijection extends to a classical crystal isomorphism and sends the combinatorial $R$-matrix to the identity map on rigged configurations.
We give a review of the current status of the X=M conjecture. Here X stands for the one-dimensional configuration sum and M for the corresponding fermionic formula. There are three main versions of this conjecture: the unrestricted, the classically restricted and the level-restricted version. We discuss all three versions and illustrate the methods of proof with many examples for type A_{n-1}^{(1)}. In particular, the combinatorial approach via crystal bases and rigged configurations is discussed. Each section ends with a conglomeration of open problems.
We describe a combinatorial realization of the crystals $B(\infty)$ and $B(λ)$ using rigged configurations in all symmetrizable Kac-Moody types up to certain conditions. This includes all simply-laced types and all non-simply-laced finite and affine types.
We give a bijection $Φ$ from rigged configurations to a tensor product of Kirillov--Reshetikhin crystals of the form $B^{r,1}$ and $B^{1,s}$ in type $D_4^{(3)}$. We show that the cocharge statistic is sent to the energy statistic for tensor products $\bigotimes_{i=1}^N B^{r_i,1}$ and $\bigotimes_{i=1}^N B^{1,s_i}$. We extend this bijection to a single $B^{r,s}$, show that it preserves statistics, and obtain the so-called Kirillov--Reshetikhin tableaux model for $B^{r,s}$. Additionally, we show that $Φ$ commutes with the virtualization map and that $B^{1,s}$ is naturally a virtual crystal in ty…
For an affine algebra of nonexceptional type in the large rank we show the fermionic formula depends only on the attachment of the node 0 of the Dynkin diagram to the rest, and the fermionic formula of not type A can be expressed as a sum of that of type A with Littlewood-Richardson coefficients. Combining this result with math.CO/9901037 and arXiv:1002.3715 we settle the X=M conjecture under the large rank hypothesis.
For types $A^{(1)}_n$ and $D^{(1)}_n$ we prove that the rigged configuration bijection intertwines the classical Kashiwara operators on tensor products of the arbitrary Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals and the set of the rigged configurations.
Hatayama et al. conjectured fermionic formulas associated with tensor products of U'_q(g)-crystals B^{r,s}. The crystals B^{r,s} correspond to the Kirillov--Reshetikhin modules which are certain finite dimensional U'_q(g)-modules. In this paper we present a combinatorial description of the affine crystals B^{r,1} of type D_n^{(1)}. A statistic preserving bijection between crystal paths for these crystals and rigged configurations is given, thereby proving the fermionic formula in this case. This bijection reflects two different methods to solve lattice models in statistical mechanics: the corn…
We construct a uniform model for highest weight crystals and $B(\infty)$ for generalized Kac--Moody algebras using rigged configurations. We also show an explicit description of the $\ast$-involution on rigged configurations for $B(\infty)$: that the $\ast$-involution interchanges the rigging and the corigging. We do this by giving a recognition theorem for $B(\infty)$ using the $\ast$-involution. As a consequence, we also characterize $B(λ)$ as a subcrystal of $B(\infty)$ using the $\ast$-involution.
The Kerov--Kirillov--Reshetikhin (KKR) bijection gives one to one correspondences between the set of highest paths and the set of rigged configurations. In this paper, we give a crystal theoretic reformulation of the KKR map from the paths to rigged configurations, using the combinatorial R and energy functions. This formalism provides tool for analysis of the periodic box-ball systems.
Rigged configurations are known to provide action-angle variables for remarkable discrete dynamical systems known as box-ball systems. We conjecture an explicit piecewise-linear formula to obtain the shapes of a rigged configuration from a tensor product of one-row crystals. We introduce cylindric loop Schur functions and show that they are invariants of the geometric R-matrix. Our piecewise-linear formula is obtained as the tropicalization of ratios of cylindric loop Schur functions. We prove our conjecture for the first shape of a rigged configuration, thus giving a piecewise-linear formula …
We review reformulation of the map from tensor product of crystals to the rigged configurations in terms of the energy function of affine crystals. Especially, we give intuitive picture of the inverse scattering formalism for the periodic box-ball systems formulated by Kuniba-Takagi-Takenouchi (arXiv:math/0602481v2).
There are two distinct approaches to the study of initial value problem of the periodic box-ball systems. One way is the rigged configuration approach due to Kuniba--Takagi--Takenouchi and another way is the 10-elimination approach due to Mada--Idzumi--Tokihiro. In this paper, we describe precisely interrelations between these two approaches.
We introduce a probability distribution on the set of states in a generalized box-ball system associated with Kirillov-Reshetikhin (KR) crystals of type $A^{(1)}_n$. Their conserved quantities induce $n$-tuple of random Young diagrams in the rigged configurations. We determine their limit shape as the system gets large by analyzing the Fermionic formula by thermodynamic Bethe ansatz. The result is expressed as a logarithmic derivative of a deformed character of the KR modules and agrees with the stationary local energy of the associated Markov process of carriers.
A new fermionic formula for the unrestricted Kostka polynomials of type $A_{n-1}^{(1)}$ is presented. This formula is different from the one given by Hatayama et al. and is valid for all crystal paths based on Kirillov-Reshetihkin modules, not just for the symmetric and anti-symmetric case. The fermionic formula can be interpreted in terms of a new set of unrestricted rigged configurations. For the proof a statistics preserving bijection from this new set of unrestricted rigged configurations to the set of unrestricted crystal paths is given which generalizes a bijection of Kirillov and Reshet…
Level-restricted paths play an important role in crystal theory. They correspond to certain highest weight vectors of modules of quantum affine algebras. We show that the recently established bijection between Littlewood--Richardson tableaux and rigged configurations is well-behaved with respect to level-restriction and give an explicit characterization of level-restricted rigged configurations. As a consequence a new general fermionic formula for the level-restricted generalized Kostka polynomial is obtained. Some coset branching functions of type $A$ are computed by taking limits of these fe…
For the exceptional affine type E_6^{(1)} we establish a statistic-preserving bijection between the highest weight paths consisting of the simplest Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystal and the rigged configurations. The algorithm only uses the structure of the crystal graph, hence could also be applied to other exceptional types.
The Kirillov--Schilling--Shimozono (KSS) bijection appearing in theory of the Fermionic formula gives an one to one correspondence between the set of elements of tensor products of the Kirillov--Reshetikhin crystals (called paths) and the set of rigged configurations. It is a generalization of Kerov--Kirillov--Reshetikhin bijection and plays inverse scattering formalism for the box-ball systems. In this paper, we give an algebraic reformulation of the KSS map from the paths to rigged configurations, using the combinatorial R and energy functions of crystals. It gives a characterization of the …
In proving the Fermionic formulae, combinatorial bijection called the Kerov--Kirillov--Reshetikhin (KKR) bijection plays the central role. It is a bijection between the set of highest paths and the set of rigged configurations. In this paper, we give a proof of crystal theoretic reformulation of the KKR bijection. It is the main claim of Part I (math.QA/0601630) written by A. Kuniba, M. Okado, T. Takagi, Y. Yamada, and the author. The proof is given by introducing a structure of affine combinatorial $R$ matrices on rigged configurations.
We review the algebraic Bethe ansatz for the Heisenberg model. The exposition includes some of recent advancements with emphasis on a relation with the rigged configurations. We also provide somewhat thorough review of the crystal bases and the rigged configurations. In particular, we provide the inverse scattering transform for the type $D^{(1)}_n$ box-ball systems. We also provide a reformulation of a result of arXiv:0711.4185.
The Kerov-Kirillov-Reshetikhin (KKR) bijection is the crux in proving fermionic formulas. It is defined by a combinatorial algorithm on rigged configurations and highest paths. We reformulate the KKR bijection as a vertex operator by purely using combinatorial R in crystal base theory. The result is viewed as a nested Bethe ansatz at q=0 as well as the direct and the inverse scattering (Gel'fand-Levitan) map in the associated soliton cellular automaton.
We introduce ``virtual'' crystals of the affine types $g=D_{n+1}^{(2)}$, $A_{2n}^{(2)}$ and $C_n^{(1)}$ by naturally extending embeddings of crystals of types $B_n$ and $C_n$ into crystals of type $A_{2n-1}$. Conjecturally, these virtual crystals are the crystal bases of finite dimensional $U_q'(g)$-modules associated with multiples of fundamental weights. We provide evidence and in some cases proofs of this conjecture. Recently, fermionic formulas for the one dimensional configuration sums associated with tensor products of the finite dimensional $U_q'(g)$-modules were conjectured by Hatayama…
Combinatorial objects called rigged configurations give rise to q-analogues of certain Littlewood-Richardson coefficients. The Kostka-Foulkes polynomials and two-column Macdonald-Kostka polynomials occur as special cases. Conjecturally these polynomials coincide with the Poincare polynomials of isotypic components of certain graded GL(n)-modules supported in a nilpotent conjugacy class closure in gl(n).
For all $k$, we construct a bijection between the set of sequences of non-negative integers ${\bf a}=(a_i)_{i\in{\bf Z}_{\geq0}}$ satisfying $a_i+a_{i+1}+a_{i+2}\leq k$ and the set of rigged partitions $(λ,ρ)$. Here $λ=(λ_1,...,λ_n)$ is a partition satisfying $k\geqλ_1\geq...\geqλ_n\geq1$ and $ρ=(ρ_1,...,ρ_n)\in{\bf Z}_{\geq0}^n$ is such that $ρ_j\geqρ_{j+1}$ if $λ_j=λ_{j+1}$. One can think of $λ$ as the particle content of the configuration ${\bf a}$ and $ρ_j$ as the energy level of the $j$-th particle, which has the weight $λ_j$. The total energy $\sum_iia_i$ is written as the sum of the two…
We reformulate the Kerov-Kirillov-Reshetikhin (KKR) map in the combinatorial Bethe ansatz from paths to rigged configurations by introducing local energy distribution in crystal base theory. Combined with an earlier result on the inverse map, it completes the crystal interpretation of the KKR bijection for U_q(\hat{sl}_2). As an application, we solve an integrable cellular automaton, a higher spin generalization of the periodic box-ball system, by an inverse scattering method and obtain the solution of the initial value problem in terms of the ultradiscrete Riemann theta function.
