On connectedness and indecomposibility of local cohomology modules

Let $I$ denote an ideal of a local Gorenstein ring $(R, \mathfrak m)$. Then we show that the local cohomology module $H^c_I(R), c = \height I,$ is indecomposable if and only if $V(I_d)$ is connected in codimension one. Here $I_d$ denotes the intersection of the highest dimensional primary components of $I.$ This is a partial extension of a result shown by Hochster and Huneke in the case $I$ the maximal ideal. Generalization of a connectedness result to cohomologically complete intersections

It is a well-known result that, in projective space over a field, every set-theoretical complete intersection of positive dimension in connected in codimension one (Hartshorne [H1,3.4.6] or [H2, Theorem 1.3]). Another important connectedness result is that a local ring with disconnected punctured sprectrum has depth at most $1$ ([H1, Proposition 2.1]). Tame Loci of Certain Local Cohomology Modules

Let $M$ be a finitely generated graded module over a Noetherian homogeneous ring $R = \bigoplus_{n \in \mathbb{N}_0}R_n$. For each $i \in \mathbb{N}_0$ let $H^i_{R_{+}}(M)$ denote the $i$-th local cohomology module of $M$ with respect to the irrelevant ideal $R_+ = \bigoplus_{n > 0} R_n$ of $R$, furnished with its natural grading. We study the tame loci $\ft^i(M)^{\leq 3}$ at level $i \in \mathbb{N}_0$ in codimension $\leq 3$ of $M$, that is the sets of all primes $\fp_0 \subset R_0$ of height $\leq 3$ such that the graded $R_{\fp_0}$-modules $H^i_{R_{+}}(M)_{\fp_0}$ are tame.

Alexander Duality and Serre's Property $(S_i)$ for Square-free Monomial Ideals

In this note, we study Serre's property $(S_i)$, and its relation to Alexander duality for monomial ideals in a polynomial ring over a field. We describe ideals that define the non-Cohen-Macaulay- and the non-$(S_i)$-loci of finitely generated modules over regular rings, and show that minimal prime ideals in these loci are homogeneous, in the graded case. We show that a square-free monomial ideal has property $(S_i)$ if and only if its Alexander dual has a linear resolution up to homological degree $i-1$.
