In this paper we consider the Skorokhod embedding problem in Brownian motion. In particular, we give a solution based on the local time at zero of a variably skewed Brownian motion related to the underlying Brownian motion. Special cases of the construction include the Azema-Yor and Vallois embeddings. In turn, the construction has an interpretation in the Chacon-Walsh framework.

An Iterated Azéma-Yor Type Embedding for Finitely Many Marginals

We solve the $n$-marginal Skorokhod embedding problem for a continuous local martingale and a sequence of probability measures $μ_1,...,μ_n$ which are in convex order and satisfy an additional technical assumption. Our construction is explicit and is a multiple marginal generalisation of the Azema and Yor (1979) solution. In particular, we recover the stopping boundaries obtained by Brown et al. Maximization of Functionals Depending on the Terminal Value and the Running Maximum of a Martingale: A Mass Transport Approach

Optimal Skorokhod embedding given full marginals and Azema-Yor peacocks

We consider the optimal Skorokhod embedding problem (SEP) given full marginals over the time interval $[0,1]$. The problem is related to the study of extremal martingales associated with a peacock ("process increasing in convex order", by Hirsch, Profeta, Roynette and Yor). Extending Chacon-Walsh: minimality and generalised starting distributions

In this paper we consider the Skorokhod embedding problem for general starting and target measures. In particular, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for a stopping time to be minimal in the sense of Monroe(1972). The resulting conditions have a nice interpretation in the graphical picture of Chacon and Walsh. Maximizing functionals of the maximum in the Skorokhod embedding problem and an application to variance swaps

The Azéma-Yor solution (resp., the Perkins solution) of the Skorokhod embedding problem has the property that it maximizes (resp., minimizes) the law of the maximum of the stopped process. We show that these constructions have a wider property in that they also maximize (and minimize) expected values for a more general class of bivariate functions $F(W_τ,S_τ)$ depending on the joint law of the stopped process and the maximum. Regression version of the Matsumoto-Yor type characterization of the gamma and Kummer distributions

In this paper we study a Matsumoto-Yor type property for the gamma and Kummer inde- pendent variables discovered in Koudou and Vallois (2012). We prove that constancy of regressions of U = (1 + 1/(X + Y ))=(1 + 1/X) given V = X + Y and of 1/U given V , where X and Y are indepen- dent and positive random variables, characterizes the gamma and Kummer distributions. Scaled penalization of Brownian motion with drift and the Brownian ascent

We study a scaled version of a two-parameter Brownian penalization model introduced by Roynette-Vallois-Yor in arXiv:math/0511102. Two explicit Skorokhod embeddings for simple symmetric random walk

Motivated by problems in behavioural finance, we provide two explicit constructions of a randomized stopping time which embeds a given centered distribution $μ$ on integers into a simple symmetric random walk in a uniformly integrable manner. Skorokhod embeddings, minimality and non-centred target distributions

In this paper we consider the Skorokhod embedding problem for target distributions with non-zero mean. In the zero-mean case, uniform integrability provides a natural restriction on the class of embeddings, but this is no longer suitable when the target distribution is not centred. The Skorokhod embedding problem and its offspring

This is a survey about the Skorokhod embedding problem. It presents all known solutions together with their properties and some applications. Some of the solutions are just described, while others are studied in detail and their proofs are presented. A certain unification of proofs, based on one-dimensional potential theory, is made. Some new facts which appeared in a natural way when different solutions were cross-examined, are reported. Azéma and Yor's and Root's solutions are studied extensively. A possible use of the latter is suggested together with a conjecture.

A stochastic control approach to no-arbitrage bounds given marginals, with an application to lookback options

We consider the problem of superhedging under volatility uncertainty for an investor allowed to dynamically trade the underlying asset, and statically trade European call options for all possible strikes with some given maturity. We obtain bounds on the distribution of the maximum of a martingale with fixed marginals at finitely many intermediate times.
