We describe an interesting relation between Lie 2-algebras, the Kac-Moody central extensions of loop groups, and the group $\mathrm{String}(n)$. A Lie 2-algebra is a categorified version of a Lie algebra where the Jacobi identity holds up to a natural isomorphism called the "Jacobiator". Similarly, a Lie 2-group is a categorified version of a Lie group. If $G$ is a simply-connected compact simple Lie group, there is a 1-parameter family of Lie 2-algebras $\mathfrak{g}_k$ each having $\mathrm{Lie}(G)$ as its Lie algebra of objects, but with a Jacobiator built from the canonical 3-form on $G$. There appears to be no Lie 2-group having $\mathfrak{g}_k$ as its Lie 2-algebra, except when $k = 0$. Here, however, we construct for integral k an infinite-dimensional Lie 2-group whose Lie 2-algebra is equivalent to $\mathfrak{g}_k$. The objects of this 2-group are based paths in $G$, while the automorphisms of any object form the level-$k$ Kac-Moody central extension of the loop group of $G$. This 2-group is closely related to the $k$th power of the canonical gerbe over $G$. Its nerve gives a topological group that is an extension of $G$ by $K(\mathbb{Z},2)$. When $k = \pm 1$, this topological group can also be obtained by killing the third homotopy group of $G$. Thus, when $G = \mathrm{Spin}(n)$, it is none other than $\mathrm{String}(n)$.
The loop super-Virasoro conformal superalgebra $\mathfrak{cls}$ associated with the loop super-Virasoro algebra is constructed in the present paper. The conformal superderivation algebra of $\mathfrak{cls}$ is completely determined, which is shown to consist of inner superderivations. And nontrivial free and free $\mathbb{Z}$-graded $\mathfrak{cls}$-modules of rank two are classified. We also give a classification of irreducible free $\mathfrak{cls}$-modules of rank two and all irreducible submodules of each free $\mathbb{Z}$-graded $\mathfrak{cls}$-module of rank two.
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be the derived subalgebra of a Kac-Moody Lie algebra of finite type or affine type, $μ$ a diagram automorphism of $\mathfrak{g}$ and $L(\mathfrak{g},μ)$ the loop algebra of $\mathfrak{g}$ associated to $μ$. In this paper, by using the vertex algebra technique, we provide a general construction of current type presentations for the universal central extension $\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}[μ]$ of $L(\mathfrak{g},μ)$. The construction contains the classical limit of Drinfeld's new realization for (twisted and untwisted) quantum affine algebras ([Dr]) and the Moody-Rao-Yokonuma presen…
We will construct the Lusztig form for the quantum loop algebra of $\mathfrak{gl}_n$ by proving the conjecture \cite[3.8.6]{DDF} and establish partially the Schur--Weyl duality at the integral level in this case. We will also investigate the integral form of the modified quantum affine $\mathfrak{gl}_n$ by introducing an affine stabilisation property and will lift the canonical bases from affine quantum Schur algebras to a canonical basis for this integral form. As an application of our theory, we will also discuss the integral form of the modified extended quantum affine $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ and…
The quantum loop algebra $U_{v}(\mathcal{L}\mathfrak{g})$ was defined as a generalization of the Drinfeld's new realization of the quantum affine algebra to the loop algebra of any Kac-Moody algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. It has been shown by Schiffmann that the Hall algebra of the category of coherent sheaves on a weighted projective line is closely related to the quantum loop algebra $U_{v}(\mathcal{L}\mathfrak{g})$, for some $\mathfrak{g}$ with a star-shaped Dynkin diagram. In this paper we study Drinfeld's presentation of $U_{v}(\mathcal{L}\mathfrak{g})$ in the double Hall algebra setting, based …
Let ${\mathfrak g}$ be a complex semisimple Lie algebra, and $Y_h({\mathfrak g})$, $U_q(L{\mathfrak g})$ the corresponding Yangian and quantum loop algebra, with deformation parameters related by $q=\exp(πi h)$. When $h$ is not a rational number, we constructed in arXiv:1310.7318 a faithful functor $Γ$ from the category of finite-dimensional representations of $Y_h ({\mathfrak g})$ to those of $U_q(L{\mathfrak g})$. The functor $Γ$ is governed by the additive difference equations defined by the commuting fields of the Yangian, and restricts to an equivalence on a subcategory of $Y_h({\mathfrak…
In this article, we introduce a completion $\widehat{U}^+_v(\mathcal{L}\mathfrak{g})$ of the positive half of the quantum affinization $U^+_v(\mathcal{L}\mathfrak{g})$ of a symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. On $\widehat{U}^+_v(\mathcal{L}(\mathfrak{g}))$, we define a new "bar-involution" and construct the analogue Kashiwara's operators. We conjecture that the resulting pair $(\widehat{\mathcal{L}},\widehat{\mathcal{B}})$ is a crystal basis which provides the existence of the "canonical basis" on the (completion of the) of the positive half of the quamtum affinization.
Let $\mathfrak{g}'\subset \mathfrak{g}$ be the pair of Lie algebras of either symplectic or orthogonal infinitesimal endomorphisms of the complex vector spaces $\mathbb{C}^{N-2}\subset \mathbb{C}^N$ and $U_q(\mathfrak{g}')\subset U_q(\mathfrak{g})$ the pair of quantum groups with triangular decomposition $U_q(\mathfrak{g})=U_q(\mathfrak{g}_-)U_q(\mathfrak{g}_+)U_q(\mathfrak{h})$. Let $Z_q(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{g}')$ be the corresponding step algebra and regard its generators as rational trigonometric functions $\mathfrak{h}^*\to U_q(\mathfrak{g}_\pm)$. We describe their regularization such th…
We study some elementary properties of the quantum enveloping algebra associated to a parabolic subalgebra $\mathfrak{p}$ of a semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. In particular we prove an explicit formula for the degree of this algebra, that extends the well known formula for the quantum enveloping algebra associated to $\mathfrak{g}$ and $\mathfrak{b}$, where $\mathfrak{b}i$ is a Borel subalgebra of $\mathfrak{g}$.
For the standard Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum group ${\rm U}_q(\mathfrak{g})$ associated with a simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, we construct explicit generators of the centre $Z({\rm U}_q(\mathfrak{g}))$, and determine the relations satisfied by the generators. For $\mathfrak{g}$ of type $A_n(n\geq 2)$, $D_{2k+1}(k\geq 2)$ or $E_6$, the centre $Z({\rm U}_q(\mathfrak{g}))$ is isomorphic to a quotient of a polynomial algebra in multiple variables, which is described in a uniform manner for all cases. For $\mathfrak{g}$ of any other type, $Z({\rm U}_q(\mathfrak{g}))$ is generated by $n=$rank$(\mathf…
In this article we construct link invariants and 3-manifold invariants from the quantum group associated with Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{sl}(2|1)$. This construction based on nilpotent irreducible finite dimensional representations of quantum group $\mathcal{U}_ξ\mathfrak{sl}(2|1)$ where $ξ$ is a root of unity of odd order. These constructions use the notion of modified trace and relative $\mathit{G}$-modular category.
The quasi-Frobenius-Lusztig kernel ${Q}\mathbf{u}_{q}(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})$ associated with $\mathfrak{sl}_{2}$ has been constructed in \cite{Liu}. In this paper we study the representations of this small quasi-quantum group. We give a complete list of non-isomorphic indecomposables and the tensor product decomposition rules for simples and projectives. A description of the Grothendieck ring is provided.
The paper mainly considers the center of two-parameter quantum groups $U_{r,s}(\mathfrak{so}_{2n+1})$ via an analogue of the Harish-Chandra homomorphism. In the case when $n$ is odd, the Harish-Chandra homomorphism is not injective in general. When $n$ is even, the Harish-Chandra homomorphism is injective and the center of two-parameter quantum groups $U_{r,s}{(\mathfrak{so}_{2n+1})}$ is described, up to isomorphism.
We introduce a Dirac operator $D$ for the quantum group $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$, as an element of the tensor product of $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ with the Clifford algebra on two generators. We study the properties of $D$, including an analogue of Vogan's conjecture. We compute the cohomology of $D$ acting on various $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$-modules.
We consider $\rm R$-matrix realization of the quantum deformations of the loop algebras $\tilde{\mathfrak{g}}$ corresponding to non-exceptional affine Lie algebras of type $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}=A^{(1)}_{N-1}$, $B^{(1)}_n$, $C^{(1)}_n$, $D^{(1)}_n$, $A^{(2)}_{N-1}$. For each $U_q(\tilde{\mathfrak{g}})$ we investigate the commutation relations between Gauss coordinates of the fundamental $\mathbb{L}$-operators using embedding of the smaller algebra into bigger one. The new realization of these algebras in terms of the currents is given. The relations between all off-diagonal Gauss coordinates and …
We construct a principally graded quantum loop algebra for the Kac-Moody algebra. As a special case a twisted analog of the quantum toroidal algebra is obtained together with the quantum Serre relations.
Let $\mathsf{u}_q(\mathfrak{g})$ be the small quantum group associated with a complex semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and a primitive root of unity q, satisfying certain restrictions. We establish the equivalence between three different actions of $\mathfrak{g}$ on the center of $\mathsf{u}_q(\mathfrak{g})$ and on the higher derived center of $\mathsf{u}_q(\mathfrak{g})$. Based on the triviality of this action for $\mathfrak{g} = \mathfrak{sl}_2, \mathfrak{sl}_3, \mathfrak{sl}_4$, we conjecture that, in finite type A, central elements of the small quantum group $\mathsf{u}_q(\mathfrak{sl…
The Witt group of nondegenerate braided fusion categories $\mathcal{W}$ contains a subgroup $\mathcal{W}_\text{un}$ consisting of Witt equivalence classes of pseudo-unitary nondegenerate braided fusion categories. For each finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and positive integer $k$ there exists a pseudo-unitary category $\mathcal{C}(\mathfrak{g},k)$ consisting of highest weight integerable $\hat{g}$-modules of level $k$ where $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$ is the corresponding affine Lie algebra. Relations between the classes $[\mathcal{C}(\mathfrak{sl}_2,k)]$, $k\geq1$ have been compl…
Let $ \mathfrak{g} $ be a quasitriangular Lie bialgebra over a field $ K $ of characteristic zero, and let $ \mathfrak{g}^* $ be its dual Lie bialgebra. We prove that the formal Poisson group $ K\big[\big[\mathfrak{g}^*\big]\big] $ is a braided Hopf algebra, thus generalizing a result due to Reshetikhin (in the case $ \, \mathfrak{g} = \mathfrak{sl}(2,K) \, $). The proof is via quantum groups, using the existence of a quasitriangular quantization of $ \mathfrak{g}^* $, as well as the fact that this one provides also a quantization of $ K\big[\big[\mathfrak{g}^*\big]\big] \, $.
We consider an infinite quiver $Q(\mathfrak{g})$ and a family of periodic quivers $Q_m(\mathfrak{g})$ for a finite dimensional simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and $m \in \mathbb{Z}_{>1}$. The quiver $Q(\mathfrak{g})$ is essentially same as what introduced by Hernandez and Leclerc for the quantum affine algebra. We construct the Weyl group $W(\mathfrak{g})$ as a subgroup of the cluster modular group for $Q_m(\mathfrak{g})$, in a similar way as what studied by the author, Ishibashi and Oya, and study its applications to the $q$-characters of quantum non-twisted affine algebras $U_q(\hat{\mathf…
We define a family of the braid group representations via the action of the $R$-matrix (of the quasitriangular extension) of the restricted quantum $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$ on a tensor power of a simple projective module. This family is an extension of the Lawrence representation specialized at roots of unity. Although the center of the braid group has finite order on the specialized Laurence representations, this action is faithful for our extension.
In this paper, we completely determine the group of algebra automorphisms for the two-parameter Hopf algebra ${\check U}_{r,s}^{\geq 0}({\mathfrak sl_{3}})$. As a result, the group of Hopf algebra automorphisms is determined for $\V$ as well. We further characterize all the derivations of the subalgebra $U^{+}_{r,s}({\mathfrak sl_{3})}$, and calculate its first degree Hochschild cohomology group.
We generalize Chevalley's theorem about restriction of \mathfrak{g}-invariant polynomial functions \mathfrak{g}->C to W-invariant functions on the Cartan \mathfrak{h}->C. We consider the case when \mathfrak{g} is replaced by a quantum group and the target space of the polynomial maps is replaced by a finite dimensional representation V of this quantum group. We prove that the restriction map Res:(O_q(G)\otimes V)^{U_q(\mathfrak{g})}-> O(H)\otimes V is injective and describe the image.
The crystals for a finite-dimensional complex reductive Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ encode the structure of its representations, yet can also reveal surprising new structure of their own. We study the cactus group $C_{\mathfrak{g}}$, constructed using the Dynkin diagram of $\mathfrak{g}$, and its combinatorial action on any $\mathfrak{g}$-crystal via Schützenberger involutions. We compare this action with that of the Berenstein-Kirillov group on Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns. Henriques and Kamnitzer define an action of $C_n=C_{\mathfrak{gl}_n}$ on $n$-tensor products of $\mathfrak{g}$-crystals, for …
We apply the sheaf cohomology BGG method developed by the authors and Lachowska-Qi to the computation of Hochschild cohomology groups of various blocks of the small quantum group. All our computations of the center of the corresponding block agree with the conjectures of Lachowska-Qi. In the case of the nontrivial singular block for $\mathfrak{g} = \mathfrak{sl}_3$, we obtain the H*$(\mathfrak{u}, \mathbb{C}) = \mathbb{C}[\mathcal{N}]$-module structure of HH*$(\mathfrak{u}_λ)$.
We continue investigating the generalisations of geometrical statistical models introduced in [13], in the form of models of webs on the hexagonal lattice H having a U_q(sl_n) quantum group symmetry. We focus here on the n=3 case of cubic webs, based on the Kuperberg A_2 spider, and illustrate its properties by comparisons with the well-known dilute loop model (the n=2 case) throughout. A local vertex-model reformulation is exhibited, analogous to the correspondence between the loop model and a three-state vertex model. The n=3 representation uses seven states per link of H, displays explicitl…
Let $U^-_q = U^-_q(\mathfrak g)$ be the negative part of the quantum group associated to a finite dimensional simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$, and $σ: \mathfrak g \to \mathfrak g$ be the automorphism obtained from the diagram automorphism. Let $\mathfrak g^σ$ be the fixed point subalgebra of $\mathfrak g$, and put $\underline U^-_q = U^-_q(\mathfrak g^σ)$. Let $B$ be the canonical basis of $U_q^-$ and $\underline B$ the canonical basis of $\underline U_q^-$. $σ$ induces a natural action on $B$, and we denote by $B^σ$ the set of $σ$-fixed elements in $B$. Lusztig proved that there exists a can…
Let $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$ be an untwisted affine Kac-Moody algebra, with its Sklyanin-Drinfel'd structure of Lie bialgebra, and let $\hat{\mathfrak{h}}$ be the dual Lie bialgebra. By dualizing the quantum double construction - via formal Hopf algebras - we construct a new quantum group $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{h}})$, dual of $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{g}})$. Studying its restricted and unrestricted integer forms and their specializations at roots of 1 (in particular, their classical limits), we prove that $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{h}})$ yields quantizations of $\hat{\mathfrak{h}}$ and $\hat{G}^\infty$ (the forma…
We consider isomorphisms and automorphisms of quantum groups. Let $k$ be a field and suppose $p, q\in k^*$ are not roots of unity. We prove that the two quantum groups $U_q(\mathfrak {sl}_2)$ and $U_p(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ over a field $k$ are isomorphic as $k$-algebras if and only if $p=q^{\pm 1}$. We also rediscover the description of the group of all $k$-automorphisms of $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ of Alev and Chamarie, and that $\text{Aut}_k(U_q(\mathfrak {sl}_2))$ is isomorphic to $\text{Aut}_k(U_p(\mathfrak {sl}_2))$.
In this note we show that the theory of non abelian extensions of a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ by a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{h}$ can be understood in terms of a differential graded Lie algebra $L$. More precisely we show that the non-abelian cohomology $H^2_{nab}(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h})$ is $\mathcal{MC}(L)$, the $π_0$ of the Deligne groupoid of $L$.
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a semisimple complex Lie algebra. Recently, Lusztig simplified the traditional construction of the corresponding Chevalley groups (of adjoint type) using the "canonical basis" of the adjoint representation of~$\mathfrak{g}$. Here, we present a variation of this idea which leads to a new, and quite elementary construction of~$\mathfrak{g}$ itself from its root system. An additional feature of this set-up is that it also gives rise to explicit Chevalley bases of $\mathfrak{g}$.
For an $n$-dimensional Leibniz/Lie algebra $\mathfrak{h}$ over a field $k$ we introduce a new invariant ${\mathcal A}(\mathfrak{h})$, called the \emph{universal algebra} of $\mathfrak{h}$, as a quotient of the polynomial algebra $k[X_{ij} \, | \, i, j = 1, \cdots, n]$ through an ideal generated by $n^3$ polynomials. We prove that ${\mathcal A}(\mathfrak{h})$ admits a unique bialgebra structure which makes it an initial object among all commutative bialgebras coacting on $\mathfrak{h}$. The new object ${\mathcal A} (\mathfrak{h})$ is the key tool in answering two open problems in Lie algebra th…
