On isotopy and unimodal inverse limit spaces

We prove that every self-homeomorphism $h : K_s \to K_s$ on the inverse limit space $K_s$ of tent map $T_s$ with slope $s \in (\sqrt 2, 2]$ is isotopic to a power of the shift-homeomorphism $σ^R : K_s \to K_s$.

Fibonacci-like unimodal inverse limit spaces and the core Ingram conjecture

We study the structure of inverse limit space of so-called Fibonacci-like tent maps. The combinatorial constraints implied by the Fibonacci-like assumption allow us to introduce certain chains that enable a more detailed analysis of symmetric arcs within this space than is possible in the general case. We show that link-symmetric arcs are always symmetric or a well-understood concatenation of quasi-symmetric arcs. This leads to the proof of the Ingram Conjecture for cores of Fibonacci-like unimodal inverse limits.

Homeomorphisms of unimodal inverse limit spaces with a non-recurrent postcritical point

In this paper we show that the group of automorphisms of a non-recurrent tent map inverse limit is very simple by demonstrating that every homeomorphism of such a space is isotopic to a power of the induced shift homeomorphism.

Entropy of homeomorphisms on unimodal inverse limit spaces

We prove that every self-homeomorphism $h : K_s \to K_s$ on the inverse limit space $K_s$ of the tent map $T_s$ with slope $s \in (\sqrt 2, 2]$ has topological entropy $\htop(h) = |R| \log s$, where $R \in \Z$ is such that $h$ and $σ^R$ are isotopic. Conclusions on the possible values of the entropy of homeomorphisms of the inverse limit space of a (renormalizable) quadratic map are drawn as well.

Countable inverse limits of postcritical ω-limit sets of unimodal maps

Let f be a unimodal map of the interval with critical point c. If the orbit of c is not dense then most points in lim{[0,1],f} have neighborhoods that are homeomorphic with the product of a Cantor set and an open arc. The points without this property are called inhomogeneities, and the set, I, of inhomogeneities is equal to lim {ω(c),f| ω(c) }. Pre-threshold fractional susceptibility function: holomorphy and response formula

For certain smooth unimodal families with negative Schwarzian derivative, we construct a set of Collet-Eckmann and subexponentially recurrent parameters $Ω$, whose complement set has sufficiently fast decaying density, on which exponential mixing with uniform rates occurs. We use this construction to establish holomorphy of the true fractional susceptibility function of the logistic family, in a disk of radius larger than one, for differentiation index $0\leη<1/2$, as recently conjectured by Baladi and Smania. We also obtain a fractional response formula.

Topological properties of Lorenz maps derived from unimodal maps

A symmetric Lorenz map is obtain by ``flipping'' one of the two branches of a symmetric unimodal map. We use this to derive a Sharkovsky-like theorem for symmetric Lorenz maps, and also to find cases where the unimodal map restricted to the critical omega-limit set is conjugate to a Sturmian shift. This has connections with properties of unimodal inverse limit spaces embedded as attractors of some planar homeomorphisms.

Inverse limits as attractors in parameterized families

We show how a parameterized family of maps of the spine of a manifold can be used to construct a family of homeomorphisms of the ambient manifold which have the inverse limits of the spine maps as global attractors. We describe applications to unimodal families of interval maps, to rotation sets, and to the standard family of circle maps.

Asymptotic parameterization in inverse limit spaces of dendrites

In this paper, we study asymptotic behavior arising in inverse limit spaces of dendrites. In particular, the inverse limit is constructed with a single unimodal bonding map, for which points have unique itineraries and the critical point is periodic. Using symbolic dynamics, sufficient conditions for two rays in the inverse limit space to have asymptotic parameterizations are given. Being a topological invariant, the classification of asymptotic parameterizations would be a useful tool when determining if two spaces are homeomorphic.

Inverse limits and statistical properties for chaotic implicitly defined economic models

In this paper we study the dynamics and ergodic theory of certain economic models which are implicitly defined. We consider 1-dimensional and 2-dimensional overlapping generations models, a cash-in-advance model, heterogeneous markets and a cobweb model with adaptive adjustment. We consider the inverse limit spaces of certain chaotic invariant fractal sets and their metric, ergodic and stability properties.
