From triangulated categories to Lie algebras: A theorem of Peng and Xiao

Hall algebras associated to triangulated categories, II: almost associativity

By using the approach in \cite{XX2006} to Hall algebras arising in homologically finite triangulated categories, we find an `almost' associative multiplication structure for indecomposable objects in a 2-periodic triangulated category. As an application, we give a new proof of the theorem of Peng and Xiao in \cite{PX2000} which provides a way of realizing symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras and elliptic Lie algebras via 2-periodic triangulated categories.

Grothendieck groups and Auslander-Reiten (d+2)-angles

Xiao and Zhu has shown that if $\cal C$ is a locally finite triangulated category, then the Auslander-Reiten triangles generate the relations for the Grothendieck group of $\cal C$. The notion of $(d +2)$-angulated categories is a "higher dimensional" analogue of triangulated categories. In this article, we show that if A $(d+2)$-angulated category $\cal C$ is locally finite if and only if the Auslander-Reiten $(d+2)$-angles generate the relations for the Grothendieck group of $\cal C$. This extends the result of Xiao and Zhu, and gives the converse of Xiao and Zhu's result is also true.

Remarks on a triangulated version of Auslander-Kleiner's Green correspondence

For a finite group $G$ and an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $p>0$ for any indecomposable finite dimensional $kG$-module $M$ with vertex $D$ and a subgroup $H$ of $G$ containing $N_G(D)$ there is a unique indecomposable $kH$-module $N$ of vertex $D$ being a direct summand of the restriction of $M$ to $H$. The Ringel--Hall Lie algebra of a spherical object

For an integer $w$, let $\cs_w$ be the algebraic triangulated category generated by a $w$-spherical object. We determine the Picard group of $\cs_w$ and show that each orbit category of $\cs_w$ is triangulated and is triangle equivalent to a certain orbit category of the bounded derived category of a standard tube. When $n=2$, the orbit category $\cs_w/Σ^2$ is 2-periodic triangulated, and we characterize the associated Ringel--Hall Lie algebra in the sense of Peng and Xiao.

On the structure of triangulated category with finitely many indecomposables

We study the problem of classifying triangulated categories with finite-dimensional morphism spaces and finitely many indecomposables over an algebraically closed field. We obtain a new proof of the following result due to Xiao and Zhu: the Auslander-Reiten quiver of such a category is of the form $\mathbb{Z}Δ/G$ where $Δ$ is a disjoint union of simply laced Dynkin diagrams and $G$ a weakly admissible group of automorphisms of $\mathbb{Z}Δ$. Green correspondence and relative projectivity for pairs of adjoint functors between triangulated categories

Auslander and Kleiner proved in 1994 an abstract version of Green correspondence for pairs of adjoint functors between three categories. They produce additive quotients of certain subcategories giving the classical Green correspondence in the special setting of modular representation theory. Cluster characters II: A multiplication formula

Let $\mathcal{C}$ be a Hom-finite triangulated 2-Calabi-Yau category with a cluster tilting object. Under some constructibility assumptions on $\mathcal{C}$ which are satisfied for instance by cluster categories, by generalized cluster categories and by stable categories of modules over a preprojective algebra, we prove a multiplication formula for the cluster character associated with any cluster tilting object. Coxeter Elements and Root Bases

Let g be a Lie algebra of type A,D,E with fixed Cartan subalgebra h, root system R and Weyl group W. We show that a choice of Coxeter element C gives a root basis for g. Moreover we show that this root basis gives a purely combinatorial construction of g, where root vectors correspond to vertices of a certain quiver $Gammahat$, and show that with respect to this basis the structure constants of the Lie bracket are given by paths in $Gammahat$. This construction is then related to the constructions of Ringel and Peng and Xiao.
