Virasoro constraints are applied to degree zero Gromov-Witten theory of weighted projective stacks $\mathbb{P}(1,N)$ and $\mathbb{P}(1,1,N)$ to obtain formulas of descendant cyclic Hurwitz-Hodge integrals in higher genera.
In this ``experimental'' research, we use known topological recursion relations in genera-zero, -one, and -two to compute the n-point descendant Gromov-Witten invariants of P^1 for arbitrary degrees and low values of n. In this letter,we present our conjecture on the connection between the Kontsevich--Witten and the Hurwitz tau-functions. Here we extend the conjecture to 3-folds with non-$(p,p)$-cohomology and we prove it in two specializations. Actions of finite groups on stable curves are studied. They appear naturally at the boundary of a moduli space of smooth curves with group actions. Those actions which can equivariantly smoothed are characterised. In this paper we use admissible covers to investigate the gonality of a stable curve $C$ over $\mathbb{C}$. If $C$ is irreducible, we compare its gonality to that of its normalization.
