The study of open/closed string duality and large $N$ duality suggests a Gromov-Witten theory for conifolds that sits on the border of both a closed Gromov-Witten theory and an open Gromov-Witten theory. In this work we employ the result of Jun Li on Gromov-Witten theory for a projective singular variety of the gluing form $Y_1\cup_D Y_2$ to extract Gromov-Witten invariants of a conifold.
A difference equation is proved for the Gromov-Witten potential of the resolved conifold. Using the Gopakumar-Vafa resummation of the Gromov-Witten invariants of any Calabi-Yau threefold, it is further shown that similar difference equations are satisfied by the part of the resummed potential containing the contribution of the genus zero GV invariants.
For a local Calabi-Yau manifold which is a smoothing of toric Gorenstein singularity, this paper computes the open Gromov-Witten invariants of a generic fiber of the special Lagrangian fibration constructed by Gross and thereby constructs its SYZ mirror. Moreover it derives a relation for the generating function of open Gromov-Witten invariants of the local Calabi-Yau manifold and that of its conifold transition.
We prove that the fermionic form of the generating function of the Gromov-Witten invariants of the resolved conifold is a Bogoliubov transform of the fermionic vacuum; in particular, it is a tau function of the KP hierarchy. Our proof is based on the gluing rule of the topological vertex and the formulas of the fermionic representations of the framed one-legged and two-legged topological vertex which were conjectured by Aganagic et al and proved in our recent work.
In this sequel to [L-Y1], [L-L-S-Y], and [L-Y2] (respectively arXiv:0709.1515 [math.AG], arXiv:0809.2121 [math.AG], and arXiv:0901.0342 [math.AG]), we study a D-brane probe on a conifold from the viewpoint of the Azumaya structure on D-branes and toric geometry. We propose two conjectural relationships between the equivariant Gromov-Witten invariants of the resolved conifold under diagonal and anti-diagonal actions and the Gromov-Witten invariants of $\mathbb{P}^1$, and verify their validity in genus zero approximation. We also provide evidences to support the validity of these relationships in genus one and genus two.
We study relative Gromov-Witten theory via universal relations provided by the interaction of degeneration and localization. We find relative Gromov-Witten theory is completely determined by absolute Gromov-Witten theory. The relationship between the relative and absolute theories is guided by a strong analogy to classical topology. As an outcome, we present a mathematical determination of the Gromov-Witten invariants (in all genera) of the Calabi-Yau quintic 3-fold in terms of known theories.
We compute local Gromov-Witten invariants of cubic surfaces at all genera. We use a deformation of a cubic surface to a nef toric surface and the deformation invariance of Gromov-Witten invariants.
The local Gromov-Witten theory of curves is solved by localization and degeneration methods. Localization is used for the exact evaluation of basic integrals in the local Gromov-Witten theory of P^1. A TQFT formalism is defined via degeneration to capture higher genus curves. Together, the results provide a compete and effective solution. We use a topological framework to study descendent Gromov-Witten theory in higher genus, non-toric settings. Two geometries are considered: surfaces of general type and the Enriques Calabi-Yau threefold. We conjecture closed formulas for surfaces of general type in classes K and 2K. For the Enriques Calabi-Yau, Gromov-Witten invariants are calculated in genus 0, 1, and 2. In genus 2, the holomorphic anomaly equation is found.
A conjecture of Aganagic and Vafa relates the open Gromov-Witten theory of $X=\mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^{1}}(-1,-1)$ to the augmentation polynomial of Legendrian contact homology. We describe how to use this conjecture to compute genus zero, one boundary component open Gromov-Witten invariants for Lagrangian submanifolds $L_{K}\subset X$ obtained from the conormal bundles of knots $K\subset S^{3}$. This computation is then performed for two non-toric examples (the figure-eight and three-twist knots). We solve Bershadsky-Cecotti-Ooguri-Vafa (BCOV) holomorphic anomaly equation to determine the higher genus Gromov-Witten invariants ($g \leq 5$) of the derived equivalent Calabi-Yau threefolds, which are of the appropriate codimensions in the Grassmannian Gr(2,7) and the Pfaffian Pf(7).
We study the degeneration and the gluing of Kuranishi structures in Gromov-Witten theory under a symplectic cut. This leads us to a degeneration axiom and a gluing axiom for open Gromov-Witten invariants. They provide then a route to the construction of virtual fundamental chains via specialization. Comments on the equivalence of the degeneration formula of closed Gromov-Witten invariants by Li-Ruan/Li versus Ionel-Parker are given in the Appendix.
In this expository article, we explain how to use localization to compute Gromov-Witten invariants of smooth toric varieties and orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of smooth toric Deligne-Mumford stacks.
We give a formula of the framed one-leg orbifold Gromov-Witten vertex where the leg is gerby with isotropy group $\bZ_m$. Then we use this formula to compute the Gromov-Witten invariants of the local $\cB\bZ_m$ gerbe. We will also compute some examples of the degree 1 and degree 2 $\bZ_2$-Hodge integrals.
We derive a closed formula for the generating function of genus two Gromov-Witten invariants of quintic 3-folds and verify the corresponding mirror symmetry conjecture of Bershadsky, Cecotti, Ooguri and Vafa.
We provide a direct proof of a conjecture of Brini relating the Gromov-Witten theory of the resolved conifold to the Ablowitz-Ladik integrable hierarchy at the level of primaries. In doing so, we use a functional representation of the Ablowitz-Ladik hierarchy as well as a difference equation for the Gromov-Witten potential. In particular, we express certain distinguished solutions of the difference equation in terms of an analytic function which is a specialization of a Tau function put forward by Bridgeland in the study of wall-crossing phenomena of Donaldson-Thomas invariants.
Various equivariant intersection numbers on Hilbert schemes of points on the affine plane are computed, some of which are organized into tau-functions of 2-Toda hierarchies. A correspondence between the equivariant intersection on Hilbert schemes and stationary Gromov-Witten theory is established.
We derive a recursive formula for certain relative Gromov-Witten invariants with maximal tangency condition via the Witten-Dijkgraaf-Verlinde-Verlinde equation. For certain relative pairs, we get explicit formulae of invariants using the recursive formula.
Gromov-Witten invariants have been constructed to be deformation invariant, but their behavior under other transformations is subtle. In this note we show that logarithmic Gromov-Witten invariants are also invariant under appropriately defined logarithmic modifications.
We construct the Gromov-Witten invariants of moduli of stable morphisms to $\Pf$ with fields. This is the all genus mathematical theory of the Guffin-Sharpe-Witten model, and is a modified twisted Gromov-Witten invariants of $\Pf$. These invariants are constructed using the cosection localization of Kiem-Li, an algebro-geometric analogue of Witten's perturbed equations in Landau-Ginzburg theory. We prove that these invariants coincide, up to sign, with the Gromov-Witten invariants of quintics.

In this paper, we proved generating functions of Gromov-Witten cycles of the elliptic orbifold lines with weights (3,3,3), (4,4,2), and (6,3,2) are cycle-valued quasi-modular forms. This is a generalization of Milanov and Ruan's work on cycle-valued level. First we construct a global cohomology field theory (CohFT) for simple elliptic singularities (modulo an extension problem) and prove its modularity. Theta functions were defined for varieties with effective anticanonical divisor and are related to certain punctured Gromov-Witten invariants. In this paper we show that in the case of a log Calabi-Yau surface (X,D) with smooth very ample anticanonical divisor we can circumvent the notion of punctured Gromov-Witten invariants and relate theta functions and their multiplicative structure to certain 2-marked log Gromov-Witten invariants. This is a natural extension of the correspondence between wall functions and 1-marked log Gromov-Witten invariants.
We build the abstract theory of Gromov-Witten invariants of genus 0 for quantum minimal Fano varieties (a minimal natural (with respect to Gromov-Witten theory) class of varieties). In particular, we consider ``the minimal Gromov-Witten ring'', i. e. a commutative algebra with generators and relations of the form used in the Gromov-Witten theory of Fano variety (of unspecified dimension). The first part of this work constructs positive-genus real Gromov-Witten invariants of real-orientable symplectic manifolds of odd "complex" dimensions; the present part focuses on their properties that are essential for actually working with these invariants. We determine the compatibility of the orientations on the moduli spaces of real maps constructed in the first part with the standard node-identifying immersion of Gromov-Witten theory. We use Pixton's relations to prove a reconstruction theorem for genus 2 Gromov-Witten invariants in the style of Kontsevich-Manin (genus 0) and Getzler (genus 1). We also calculate genus 2 (descendant) Gromov-Witten invariants of $\mathbb{P}^2$ blown up at a finite number of points in general position.
We compute the $g=1, n=1$ B-model Gromov-Witten invariant of an elliptic curve E directly from the derived category D(E). More precisely, we carry out the computation of the categorical Gromov-Witten invariant defined by Costello using as target a cyclic $A_\infty$ model of D(E) described by Polishchuk. This is the first non-trivial computation of a positive genus categorical Gromov-Witten invariant, and the result agrees with the prediction of mirror symmetry: it matches the classical (non-categorical) Gromov-Witten invariants of a symplectic 2-torus computed by Dijkgraaf.

We study the Gromov-Witten and Donaldson-Thomas correspondence conjectured in [MNOP1, MNOP2], for trivial elliptic fibrations. In particular, we verify the Gromov-Witten and Donaldson-Thomas correspondence for primary fields when the threefold is $E \times S$ where $E$ is a smooth elliptic curve and $S$ is a smooth surface with numerically trivial canonical class.
We state and prove a topological recursion relation that expresses any genus-g Gromov-Witten invariant of a projective manifold with at least a (3g-1)-st power of a cotangent line class in terms of invariants with fewer cotangent line classes. For projective spaces, we prove that these relations together with the Virasoro conditions are sufficient to calculate the full Gromov-Witten potential. This gives the first computationally feasible way to determine the higher genus Gromov-Witten invariants of projective spaces.
Seiberg duality conjecture asserts that the Gromov-Witten theories (Gauged Linear Sigma Models) of two quiver varieties related by quiver mutations are equal via variable change. In this work, we prove this conjecture for $A_n$ type quiver varieties.

I prove a formula expressing the descendent genus g Gromov-Witten invariants of a projective variety X in terms of genus 0 invariants of its symmetric product stack S^{g+1}(X). When X is a point, the latter are structure constants of the symmetric group, and we obtain a new way of calculating the Gromov-Witten invariants of a point.
We prove that the Frobenius structure constructed from the Gromov-Witten theory for an orbifold projective line with at most three orbifold points is uniquely determined by the WDVV equations with certain natural initial conditions.

The aim of Part II is to explore the technique of invariance of tautological equations in the realm of Gromov--Witten theory. The main result is a proof of Invariance Theorem (Invariance Conjecture~1 in [14]), via the techniques from Gromov--Witten theory. It establishes some general inductive structure of the tautological rings, and provides a new tool to the study of this area.
