Let R be a commutative ring with unity and a let A be a not necessarily commutative R-algebra which is free as an R-module. If I is an ideal in A, one can ask when A/I is also free as an R-module. We show that if A has an admissible system and I has a unital Grobner basis then A/I is free as an R-module. We prove a version of Buchberger's theorem over R and, as a corollary, we obtain a Grobner basis proof of the Poincare-Birkhoff-Witt Theorem over a commutative ground ring.
We study a question which can be roughly stated as follows: Given a (unital or nonunital) algebra $A$ together with a Gröbner-Shirshov basis $G$, consider the free operated algebra $B$ over $A$, such that the operator satisfies some polynomial identities $Φ$ which are Gröbner-Shirshov in the sense of Guo et al., when doesthe union $Φ\cup G$ will be an operated Gröbner-Shirshov basis for $B$? We answer this question in the affirmative under a mild condition in our previous work with Wang. When this condition is satisfied, $Φ\cup G$ is an operated Gröbner-Shirshov basis for $ B$ and as a consequ…
In this work, it is proposed a method for computing Noncommutative Gröbner bases over a valuation nœtherian ring. We have generalized the fundamental theorem on normal forms over an arbitrary ring. The classical method of dynamical commutative Gröbner bases is generalized for Buchberger's algorithm over $R=\mathcal{V}<x_1,...,x_m>$ a free associative algebra with non-commuting variables, where $\mathcal{V}=\mathbb{Z}/n\mathbb{Z}$ or $\mathcal{V}=\mathbb{Z}$. The process proposed, generalizes previous known technics for the computation of Commutative Gröbner bases over a valuation nœtherian rin…
We establish the Gröbner-Shirshov bases theory for differential Lie $Ω$-algebras. As an application, we give a linear basis of a free differential Lie Rota-Baxter algebra on a set.
In this paper, we obtain respectively some new linear bases of free unitary (modified) weighted differential algebras and free nonunitary (modified) Rota-Baxter algebras, in terms of the method of Gröbner-Shirshov bases.
As the case of free $\Bbbk$-algebras and $PBW$ algebras, given a bijective skew $PBW$ extension $A$, we will show that it is possible transfer Gröbner bases between $A$ and its associated graded ring.
In this paper we use the operadic framework to find Gröbner-Shirshov bases for the free quadri-algebra. We perform computations using the representation of the nonsymmetric operad by planar rooted trees in a very intuitive way. Gröbner-Shirshov bases for the free dendriform algebra are also found with this technique, simplifying the work by Chen and Wang in 2010.
We construct free modules over an associative conformal algebra. We establish Composition-Diamond lemma for associative conformal modules. As applications, Gröbner-Shirshov bases of the Virasoro conformal module and module over the semidirect product of Virasoro conformal algebra and current algebra are given respectively.
In the paper, we establish Gröbner-Shirshov bases for semirings and commutative semirings. As applications, we obtain Gröbner-Shirshov bases and A. Blass's (1995) and M. Fiore -T. Leinster's (2004) normal forms of the semirings $\mathbb{N}[x]/(x=1+x+x^2)$ and $\mathbb{N}[x]/(x=1+x^2)$ with one generator $x$ and one defining relation, correspondingly.
For sigma-PWB extensions, we extend to modules the theory of Gröbner bases of left ideals presented in [5]. As an application, if A is a bijective quasi-commutative sigma-PWB extension, we compute the module of syzygies of a submodule of the free module A^m.
We establish Gröbner--Shirshov bases theory for commutative dialgebras. We show that for any ideal $I$ of $Di[X]$, $I$ has a unique reduced Gröbner--Shirshov basis, where $Di[X]$ is the free commutative dialgebra generated by a set $X$, in particular, $I$ has a finite Gröbner--Shirshov basis if $X$ is finite. As applications, we give normal forms of elements of an arbitrary commutative disemigroup, prove that the word problem for finitely presented commutative dialgebras (disemigroups) is solvable, and show that if $X$ is finite, then the problem whether two ideals of $Di[X]$ are identical is …
In this paper, we construct free Lie Rota-Baxter superalgebra by using Gröbner-Shirshov bases theory. We firstly construct free operated Lie superalgebras by the operated super-Lyndon-Shirshov monomials. Secondly, we establish Gröbner-Shirshov bases theory for operated Lie superalgebras. Thirdly, we find a Gröbner-Shirshov basis of a free Lie Rota-Baxter superalgebra on a $\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded set. Consequently, we can obtain a linear basis of a free Lie Rota-Baxter superalgebra by the composition-diamond lemma for operated Lie superalgebras.
A finite Grobner-Shirshov basis is constructed for the plactic algebra of rank 3 over a field K. It is also shown that plactic algebras of rank exceeding 3 do not have finite Grobner-Shirshov bases associated to the natural degree-lexicographic ordering on the corresponding free algebra. The latter is in contrast with the case of a strongly related class of algebras, called Chinese algebras, recently considered by Chen Yuqun and Qiu Jianjun.
In this paper, by using Composition-Diamond lemma for Lie algebras, we give a Gröbner-Shirshov basis for free partially commutative Lie algebra over a commutative ring with unit. As an application, we obtain a normal form for such a Lie algebra.
In this paper, we elaborate Gröbner-Shirshov bases method for Leibniz (super)algebras. We show that there is a unique reduced Gröbner-Shirshov basis for every (graded) ideal of a free Leibniz (super)algebra. As applications, we construct linear bases of free metabelian Leibniz superalgebras and new linear bases of free metabelian Lie algebras. We present a complete characterization of extensions of a Leibniz (super)algebra by another Leibniz (super)algebra, where the former is presented by generators and relations.
Let $Λ$ be a commutative Noetherian ring, and let $I$ be a proper ideal of $Λ$, $R=Λ/I$. Consider the polynomial rings $T=Λ[x_1,...x_n]$ and $A=R[x_1,...,x_n]$. Suppose that linear equations are solvable in $Λ$. It is shown that linear equations are solvable in $R$ (thereby theoretically Gröbner bases for ideals of $A$ are well defined and constructible) and that practically Gröbner bases in $A$ with respect to any given monomial ordering can be obtained by constructing Gröbner bases in $T$, and moreover, all basic applications of a Gröbner basis at the level of $A$ can be realized by a Gröbne…
We study the relation between Poisson algebras and representations of Lie conformal algebras. We establish a setting for the calculation of a Gröbner--Shirshov basis in a module over an associative conformal algebra and apply this technique to Poisson algebras considered as conformal modules over appropriate associative envelopes of current Lie conformal algebras. As a result, we obtain a setting for the calculation of a Gröbner--Shirshov basis in a Poisson algebra.
In this paper, we give a Gröbner-Shirshov basis of the free dendriform algebra as a quotient algebra of an $L$-algebra. As applications, we obtain a normal form of the free dendriform algebra. Moreover, Hilbert series and Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of finitely generated free dendriform algebras are obtained.
Let $K$ be a field and $R=\oplus_{p\in\mathbb{N}}R_p$ an $\mathbb{N}$-graded $K$-algebra, which has an SM $K$-basis (i.e. a skew multiplicative $K$-basis) such that $R$ holds a Gröbner basis theory. It is proved that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the set of Gröbner bases in $R$ and the set of dh-closed homogeneous Gröbner bases in the polynomial algebra $R[t]$; and that the similar result holds true if $R$ and $R[t]$ are replaced respectively by the free algebra $K< X_1,...,X_n>$ and the free algebra $K< X_1,...,X_n,T>$. Moreover, it is shown that dh-closed graded ideals in $R[t…
In this paper, we generalize the Lyndon-Shirshov words to Lyndon-Shirshov $Ω$-words on a set $X$ and prove that the set of all non-associative Lyndon-Shirshov $Ω$-words forms a linear basis of the free Lie $Ω$-algebra on the set $X$. From this, we establish Gröbner-Shirshov bases theory for Lie $Ω$-algebras. As applications, we give Gröbner-Shirshov bases for free $λ$-Rota-Baxter Lie algebras, free modified $λ$-Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and free Nijenhuis Lie algebras and then linear bases of such three free algebras are obtained.
In this paper, the Composition-Diamond lemma for commutative algebras with multiple operators is established. As applications, the Gröbner-Shirshov bases and linear bases of free commutative Rota-Baxter algebra, free commutative $λ$-differential algebra and free commutative $λ$-differential Rota-Baxter algebra are given, respectively. Consequently, these three free algebras are constructed directly by commutative $Ω$-words.
We establish Gröbner-Shirshov bases theory for Gelfand-Dorfman-Novikov algebras over a field of characteristic $0$. As applications, a PBW type theorem in Shirshov form is given and we provide an algorithm for solving the word problem of Gelfand-Dorfman-Novikov algebras with finite homogeneous relations. We also construct a subalgebra of one generated free Gelfand-Dorfman-Novikov algebra which is not free.
Let $K\langle X\rangle =K\langle X_1,...,X_n\rangle$ be the free algebra of $n$ generators over a field $K$, and let $R\langle X\rangle =R\langle X_1,...,X_n\rangle$ be the free algebra of $n$ generators over an arbitrary commutative ring $R$. In this semi-expository paper, it is clarified that any monic Gröbner basis in $K\langle X\rangle$ may give rise to a monic Gröbner basis of the same type in $R\langle X\rangle$, and vice versa. This fact turns out that many important $R$-algebras have defining relations which form a monic Gröbner basis, and consequently, such $R$-algebras may be studied…
Many rings and algebras arising in quantum mechanics, algebraic analysis, and non-commutative algebraic geometry can be interpreted as skew PBW (Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt) extensions. In the present paper we study two aspects of these non-commutative rings: its finitely generated projective modules from a matrix-constructive approach, and the construction of the Gröbner theory for its left ideals and modules. These two topics could be interesting in future eventual applications of skew $PBW$ extensions in functional linear systems and in non-commutative algebraic geometry.
Let $\mathfrak{a},\mathfrak{b},\mathfrak{e}$ be algebras over a field $k$. Then $\mathfrak{e}$ is an extension of $\mathfrak{a}$ by $\mathfrak{b}$ if $\mathfrak{a}$ is an ideal of $\mathfrak{e}$ and $\mathfrak{b}$ is isomorphic to the quotient algebra $\mathfrak{e}/\mathfrak{a}$. In this paper, by using Gröbner-Shirshov bases theory for associative (resp. Lie) algebras, we give complete characterizations of associative (resp. Lie) algebra extensions of $\mathfrak{a}$ by $\mathfrak{b}$, where $\mathfrak{b}$ is presented by generators and relations.
Let $K$ be an infinite field and $K< X> =K< X_1,...,X_n>$ the free associative algebra generated by $X=\{X_1,...,X_n\}$ over $K$. It is proved that if $I$ is a two-sided ideal of $K< X>$ such that the $K$-algebra $A=K< X> /I$ is almost commutative in the sense of [3], namely, with respect to its standard $\mathbb{N}$-filtration $FA$, the associated $\mathbb{N}$-graded algebra $G(A)$ is commutative, then $I$ is generated by a finite Gröbner basis. Therefor, every quotient algebra of the enveloping algebra $U(\mathbf{g})$ of a finite dimensional $K$-Lie algebra $\mathbf{g}$ is, as a noncommutati…

Constructive proofs of fact that a stably free left $S$-module $M$ with rank$(M)\geq$sr$(S)$ is free, where sr$(S)$ denotes the stable rank of an arbitrary ring $S$, were developed in some articles. Additionally, in such papers, are presented algorithmic proofs for calculating projective dimension, and to check whether a left $S$-module $M$ is stably free. Given a left $A$-module $M$, with $A$ a bijective skew $PBW$ extension, we will use these results and Gröbner bases theory, to establish algorithms that allow us to calculate effectively the projective dimension for this module, to check whe…
In this paper we establish a Gröbner-Shirshov bases theory for Lie algebras over commutative rings. As applications we give some new examples of special Lie algebras (those embeddable in associative algebras over the same ring) and non-special Lie algebras (following a suggestion of P.M. Cohn (1963) \cite{Conh}). In particular, Cohn's Lie algebras over the characteristic $p$ are non-special when $p=2,\ 3,\ 5$. We present an algorithm that one can check for any $p$, whether Cohn's Lie algebras is non-special. Also we prove that any finitely or countably generated Lie algebra is embeddable in a …
Signature-based algorithms have become a standard approach for computing Gröbner bases in commutative polynomial rings. However, so far, it was not clear how to extend this concept to the setting of noncommutative polynomials in the free algebra. In this paper, we present a signature-based algorithm for computing Gröbner bases in precisely this setting. The algorithm is an adaptation of Buchberger's algorithm including signatures. We prove that our algorithm correctly enumerates a signature Gröbner basis as well as a Gröbner basis of the module generated by the leading terms of the generators'…
In this work we develop the theory of Gröbner bases for modules over the ring of univariate linearized polynomials with coefficients from a finite field.
In this note, we extend modular techniques for computing Gröbner bases from the commutative setting to the vast class of noncommutative $G$-algebras. As in the commutative case, an effective verification test is only known to us in the graded case. In the general case, our algorithm is probabilistic in the sense that the resulting Gröbner basis can only be expected to generate the given ideal, with high probability. We have implemented our algorithm in the computer algebra system {\sc{Singular}} and give timings to compare its performance with that of other instances of Buchberger's algorithm,…
We establish doubly-exponential degree bounds for Gröbner bases in certain algebras of solvable type over a field (as introduced by Kandri-Rody and Weispfenning). The class of algebras considered here includes commutative polynomial rings, Weyl algebras, and universal enveloping algebras of finite-dimensional Lie algebras. For the computation of these bounds, we adapt a method due to Dubé based on a generalization of Stanley decompositions. Our bounds yield doubly-exponential degree bounds for ideal membership and syzygies, generalizing the classical results of Hermann and Seidenberg (in the c…
In this paper, we construct a canonical linear basis for free commutative integro-differential algebras by applying the method of Gröbner-Shirshov bases. We establish the Composition-Diamond Lemma for free commutative differential Rota-Baxter algebras of order $n$. We also obtain a weakly monomial order on these algebras, allowing us to obtain Gröbner-Shirshov bases for free commutative integro-differential algebras on a set. We finally generalize the concept of functional derivations to free differential algebras with arbitrary weight and generating sets from which to construct a canonical li…
