Analytic continuation of eigenvalues of the Lamé operator

Eigenvalues of the Lamé operator are studied as complex-analytic functions in period $τ$ of an elliptic function. We investigate the branching of eigenvalues numerically and clarify the relationship between the branching of eigenvalues and the convergent radius of a perturbation series.

Eigenvalue Problems for Lamé's Differential Equation

The Floquet eigenvalue problem and a generalized form of the Wangerin eigenvalue problem for Lamé's differential equation are discussed. Results include comparison theorems for eigenvalues and analytic continuation, zeros and limiting cases of (generalized) Lamé-Wangerin eigenfunctions. Algebraic Lamé functions and Lamé polynomials appear as special cases of Lamé-Wangerin functions.

Uniform asymptotic approximations for the Lamé and Mathieu functions and their respective eigenvalues with a large parameter

By application of the theory for second-order linear differential equations with two turning points developed in \cite{Olver1975}, uniform asymptotic approximations are obtained for the Lamé and Mathieu functions with a large real parameter. The approximations are expressed in terms of parabolic cylinder functions, and are uniformly valid in their respective real open intervals. In all cases explicit bounds are supplied for the error terms associated with the approximations. Approximations are also obtained for their respective eigenvalues.

Root asymptotics of spectral polynomials for the Lame operator

The study of polynomial solutions to the classical Lamé equation in its algebraic form, or equivalently, of double-periodic solutions of its Weierstrass form has a long history. Such solutions appear at integer values of the spectral parameter and their respective eigenvalues serve as the ends of bands in the boundary value problem for the corresponding Schrödinger equation with finite gap potential given by the Weierstrass $\wp$-function on the real line. Lame operators with projective octahedral and icosahedral monodromies

We show that there exists a Lame operator $L_n$ with projective octahedral monodromy for each $n\in{1/2}(\mathbf{N}+{1/2})\cup{1/3}(\mathbf{N}+{1/2}) $, and with projective icosahedral monodromy for each $n\in{1/3}(\mathbf{N}+{1/2})\cup{1/5}(\mathbf{N}+{1/2}) $. To this end, we construct Grothendieck's dessin d'enfants corresponding to the Belyi morphisms which pull-back hypergeometric operators into Lame operators $L_n$ with the desired monodromies.

On the Spectra of Real and Complex Lamé Operators

We study Lamé operators of the form $$L = -\frac{d^2}{dx^2} + m(m+1)ω^2\wp(ωx+z_0),$$ with $m\in\mathbb{N}$ and $ω$ a half-period of $\wp(z)$. For rectangular period lattices, we can choose $ω$ and $z_0$ such that the potential is real, periodic and regular. It is known after Ince that the spectrum of the corresponding Lamé operator has a band structure with not more than $m$ gaps. Gradient of eigenvalues of Dirac operators and its applications

For Dirac operators, which have discrete spectra, the concept of eigenvalues gradient is given and formulae for this gradients are obtained in terms of normalized eigenfunctions. It is shown how the gradient is being used to describe isospectral operators or when finite number of spectral data is changed.

Choquet order for spectra of higher Lame operators and orthogonal polynomials

We establish a hierarchy of weighted majorization relations for the singularities of generalized Lamé equations and the zeros of their Van Vleck and Heine-Stieltjes polynomials as well as for multiparameter spectral polynomials of higher Lamé operators.
