The study of the $k$-th elementary symmetric function of the Weyl-Schouten curvature tensor of a Riemannian metric, the so called $σ_k$ curvature, has produced many fruitful results in conformal geometry in recent years, especially when the dimension of the underlying manifold is 3 or 4. In these studies, the deforming conformal factor is considered to be a solution of a fully nonlinear elliptic PDE. Important advances have been made in recent years in the understanding of the analytic behavior of solutions of the PDE, including the adaptation of Bernstein type estimates in integral form, global and local derivative estimates, classification of entire solutions and analysis of blowing up solutoins. Most of these results require derivative bounds on the $σ_k$ curvature. The derivative estimates also require an a priori $L^{\infty}$ bound on the solution. This work provides local $L^{\infty}$ and Harnack estimates for solutions of the $σ_2$ curvature equation on 4 manifolds, under only $L^p$ bounds on the $σ_2$ curvature, and the natural assumption of small volume(or total $σ_2$ curvature).
We prove rigidity of any properly immersed noncompact Lagrangian shrinker with single valued Lagrangian angle for Lagrangian mean curvature flows. Our pointwise approach also provides an ele- mentary proof to the known rigidity results for graphical and almost graphical shrinkers of mean curvature flows.
We establish fundamental results for a parabolic flow of Riemannian metrics introduced by Bahuaud-Helliwell in arXiv:1010:4287v1 which is based on the Fefferman-Graham ambient obstruction tensor. First, we obtain local $L^2$ smoothing estimates for the curvature tensor and use them to prove pointwise smoothing estimates for the curvature tensor. We use the pointwise smoothing estimates to show that the curvature must blow up for a finite time singular solution. We also use the pointwise smoothing estimates to prove a compactness theorem for a sequence of solutions with bounded $C^0$ curvature …
We study integral and pointwise bounds on the curvature of gradient shrinking Ricci solitons. As applications we discuss gap and compactness results for gradient shrinkers.
Let $(M^n,g)$ be a Riemannian manifold without boundary. We study the amount of initial regularity is required so that the solution to free Schrödinger equation converges pointwisely to its initial data. Assume the initial data is in $H^α(M)$. For Hyperbolic Space, standard Sphere and the 2 dimensional Torus, we prove that $α>\frac{1}{2}$ is enough. For general compact manifolds, due to lacking of local smoothing effect, it is hard to beat the bound $α>1$ from interpolation. We managed to go below 1 for dimension $\leq 3$. The more interesting thing is that, for 1 dimensional compact manifold,…
We obtain a priori local pointwise second derivative estimates for solutions $u$ to a class of augmented Hessian equations on Riemannian manifolds, in terms of the $C^1$ norm and certain $W^{2,p}$ norms of $u$. We consider the case that no structural assumptions are imposed on either the augmenting term or the right hand side of the equation, and the case where these terms are convex in the gradient variable. In the latter case, under an additional ellipticity condition we prove that the dependence on any $W^{2,p}$ norm can be dropped. Our results are derived using integral estimates.
In this article, we first show that for all compact Riemannian manifolds with non-empty smooth boundary and dimension at least 3, there exists a metric, pointwise conformal to the original metric, with constant scalar curvature in the interior, and constant scalar curvature on the boundary by considering the boundary as a manifold of its own with dimension at least 2. We then show a series of prescribed scalar curvature results in the interior and on the boundary, with pointwise conformal deformation. These type of results is both an analogy and an extension of Kazdan and Warner's "Trichotomy …
We propose a natural definition of the weighted $σ_k$-curvature for a manifold with density; i.e.\ a triple $(M^n,g,e^{-ϕ}\mathrm{dvol})$. This definition is intended to capture the key properties of the $σ_k$-curvatures in conformal geometry with the role of pointwise conformal changes of the metric replaced by pointwise changes of the measure. We justify our definition through three main results. First, we show that shrinking gradient Ricci solitons are local extrema of the total weighted $σ_k$-curvature functionals when the weighted $σ_k$-curvature is variational. Second, we characterize th…
In this article, we give results of prescribing scalar and mean curvature functions for metrics either pointwise conformal or conformally equivalent to a Riemannian metric that is equipped on a compact manifold with boundary, with dimensions at least $ 3 $. The results are classified by the sign of the first eigenvalue of the conformal Laplacian. This leads to a "Trichotomy Theorem" in terms of both scalar and mean curvature functions, which is a full extension of the "Trichotomy Theorem" given by Kazdan and Warner. We also discuss prescribing Gauss and geodesic curvature problems on compact R…
Given a closed 3-manifold with an initial Riemannian metric of negative sec- tional curvature, we consider the cross curvature flow an evolution equation of metric on M3. We prove long-time existence of a solution to the cross curvature flow via the maximum principle theorem. Besides, we demonstrate the solution exists for all time and converges pointwisely to a hyperbolic metric
We obtain pointwise estimates for solutions of semilinear parabolic equations with a potential on connected domains both of $\mathbb R^n$ and of general Riemannian manifolds.
Let (M,g_0) be a compact Riemannian manifold with pointwise 1/4-pinched sectional curvatures. We show that the Ricci flow deforms g_0 to a constant curvature metric. The proof uses the fact, also established in this paper, that positive isotropic curvature is preserved by the Ricci flow in all dimensions. We also rely on earlier work of Hamilton and of Bohm and Wilking.

We confirm a conjecture of Hamilton: On compact manifolds the normalized Ricci flow evolves metrics with positive curvature operators to limit metrics with constant curvature.
We investigate the integral conditions to extend the mean curvature flow in a Riemannian manifold. We prove that the mean curvature flow solution with finite total mean curvature on a finite time interval $[0,T)$ can be extended over time $T$. Moreover, we show that the condition is optimal in some sense.
In this paper, we focus our study on the ends of a locally conformally flat complete manifold with finite total $Q$-curvature. We prove that for such a manifold, the integral of the $Q$-curvature equals an integral multiple of a dimensional constant $c_n$, where $c_n$ is the integral of the $Q$-curvature on the unit $n$-sphere. It provides further evidence that the $Q$-curvature on a locally conformally flat manifold controls geometry as the Gaussian curvature does in two dimension.
Given a compact four dimensional smooth Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ with smooth boundary, we consider the evolution equation by $Q$-curvature in the interior keeping the $T$-curvature and the mean curvature to be zero and the evolution equation by $T$-curvature at the boundary with the condition that the $Q$-curvature and the mean curvature vanish. Using integral method, we prove global existence and convergence for the $Q$-curvature flow (resp $T$-curvature flow) to smooth metric of prescribed $Q$-curvature (resp $T$-curvature) under conformally invariant assumptions.
On Riemannian manifolds of dimension 4, for prescribed scalar curvature equation, under lipschitzian condition on the prescribed curvature, we have an uniform estimate for the solutions of the equation if we control their minimas.
We study high codimension mean curvature flow of a submanifold $\mathcal{M}^n$ of dimension $n$ in Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^{n+k}$ subject to the quadratic curvature condition $ |A|^{2}\leq c_n |H|^{2}, c _n = \min\{ \frac{4}{3n} , \frac{1}{n-2}\}$. This condition extends the notion of two-convexity for hypersurfaces to high codimension submanifolds. We analyse singularity formation in the mean curvature flow of high codimension by directly proving a pointwise gradient estimate. We then show that near a singularity the surface is quantitatively cylindrical.
We prove that the following pointwise inequality holds \begin{equation*} -Δu \ge \sqrt\frac{2}{(p+1)-c_n} |x|^{\frac{a}{2}} u^{\frac{p+1}{2}} + \frac{2}{n-4} \frac{|\nabla u|^2}{u} \ \ \text{in}\ \ \mathbb{R}^n \end{equation*} where $c_n:=\frac{8}{n(n-4)}$, for positive bounded solutions of the fourth order Hénon equation that is \begin{equation*} Δ^2 u = |x|^a u^p \ \ \ \ \text {in }\ \ \mathbb{R}^n \end{equation*} for some $a\ge0$ and $p>1$. Motivated by the Moser's proof of the Harnack's inequality as well as Moser iteration type arguments in the regularity theory, we develop an iteration a…
We obtain sharp pointwise estimates for positive solutions to the equation $-Lu+Vu^q=f$, where $L$ is an elliptic operator in divergence form, $q\in\mathbb{R}\setminus \{0\}$, $f\geq 0$ and $V$ is a function that may change sign, in a domain $Ω$ in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$, or in a weighted Riemannian manifold.
