Let (M,w,L) be a symplectic manifold endowed with a lagrangian foliation L. Liberman and Weinstein have shown that the leaves of L are endowed with an affine structure. In this paper we provide links between the theories of affine manifolds and symplectic geometry. Using the work of Donaldson who have shown the existence of symplectic submanifolds in every codimension, we show the Auslander conjecture to be true if the linear holonomy is contained in Gl(n,Z)

In this paper we exhibit a family of flat left invariant affine structures on the double Lie group of the oscillator Lie group of dimension 4, associated to each solution of classical Yang-Baxter equation given by Boucetta and Medina. Closed ray nil-affine manifolds and parabolic geometries

Ray nil-affine geometries are defined on nilpotent spaces. They occur in every parabolic geometry and in those cases, the nilpotent space is an open dense subset of the corresponding flag manifold. We are interested in closed manifolds having a ray nil-affine structure. We show that under a rank one condition on the isotropy, closed manifolds are either complete or their developing map is a cover onto the complement of a nil-affine subspace. The geometry of locally symmetric affine surfaces

We examine the local geometry of affine surfaces which are locally symmetric. There are 6 non-isomorphic local geometries. We realize these examples as Type A, Type B, and Type C geometries using a result of Opozda and classify the relevant geometries up to linear isomorphism. We examine the geodesic structures in this context. Particular attention is paid to the Lorentzian analogue of the hyperbolic plane and to the pseudosphere.

Theoretically and computationally convenient geometries on full-rank correlation matrices

In contrast to SPD matrices, few tools exist to perform Riemannian statistics on the open elliptope of full-rank correlation matrices. The quotient-affine metric was recently built as the quotient of the affine-invariant metric by the congruence action of positive diagonal matrices. Remarks on Grassmannian Symmetric Spaces

The classical concept of affine locally symmetric spaces allows a generalization for various geometric structures on a smooth manifold. We remind the notion of symmetry for parabolic geometries and we summarize the known facts for $|1|$--graded parabolic geometries and for almost Grassmannian structures, in particular. Symmetric affine surfaces with torsion

We study symmetric affine surfaces which have non-vanishing torsion tensor. We give a complete classification of the local geometries possible if the torsion is assumed parallel. This generalizes a previous result of Opozda in the torsion free setting; these geometries are all locally homogeneous. If the torsion is not parallel, we assume the underlying surface is locally homogeneous and provide a complete classification in this setting as well.

Cartan geometries on complex manifolds of algebraic dimension zero

We show that compact complex manifolds of algebraic dimension zero bearing a holomorphic Cartan geometry of algebraic type have infinite fundamental group. This generalizes the main Theorem in [DM] where the same result was proved for the special cases of holomorphic affine connections and holomorphic conformal structures.

Volume entropy of Hilbert Geometries

It is shown that the volume entropy of a Hilbert geometry associated to an $n$-dimensional convex body of class $C^{1,1}$ equals $n-1$. To achieve this result, a new projective invariant of convex bodies, similar to the centro-affine area, is constructed. In the case $n=2$, and without any assumption on the boundary, it is shown that the entropy is bounded above by $\frac{2}{3-d} \leq 1$, where $d$ is the Minkowski dimension of the extremal set of $K$. An example of a plane Hilbert geometry with entropy strictly between 0 and 1 is constructed.

We introduce the notion of a special complex manifold: a complex manifold (M,J) with a flat torsionfree connection \nabla such that (\nabla J) is symmetric. A special symplectic manifold is then defined as a special complex manifold together with a \nabla-parallel symplectic form ω.
