We construct an associative product on the symmetric module S(L) of any pre-Lie algebra L. Then we proove that in the case of rooted trees our construction is dual to that of Connes and Kreimer. We also show that symmetric brace algebras and pre-Lie algebras are the same. Finally, using brace algebras instead of pre-Lie algebras, we give a similar interpretation of Foissy's Hopf algebra of planar rooted trees.
We first quantize the Witt algebra in characteristic 0. Then, we consider the reduction modulo p of our formulas. This gives polynomial deformations of the restricted envelopping algebra of the Witt algebra. By this way, we get new families of noncommutative noncocommutative Hopf algebras of dimension p^p in char p.
This paper gives a complete selfcontained proof of our result announced in hep-th/9909126 showing that renormalization in quantum field theory is a special instance of a general mathematical procedure of extraction of finite values based on the Riemann-Hilbert problem. We shall first show that for any quantum field theory, the combinatorics of Feynman graphs gives rise to a Hopf algebra $\Hc$ which is commutative as an algebra. It is the dual Hopf algebra of the envelopping algebra of a Lie algebra $\ud G$ whose basis is labelled by the one particle irreducible Feynman graphs. The Lie bracket …
We study pre-Lie pairs, by which we mean a pair of a homotopy Lie algebra and a pre-Lie algebra with a compatible pre-Lie action. Such pairs provide a wealth of algebraic structure, which in particular can be used to analyze the homotopy Lie part of the pair. Our main application and the main motivation for this development are the dg Lie algebras of hairy graphs computing the rational homotopy groups of the mapping spaces of the $E_n$ operads. We show that twisting with certain Maurer-Cartan elements trivializes their Lie algebra structure. The result can be used to understand the rational ho…
Structures of Lie algebras, Lie coalgebras, Lie bialgebras and Lie quasibialgebras are presented as solutions of Maurer-Cartan equations on corresponding governing differential graded Lie algebras using the big bracket construction of Kosmann-Schwarzbach. This approach provides a definition of an $L_\infty$-(quasi)bialgebra (strongly homotopy Lie (quasi)bialgebra). We recover an $L_\infty$-algebra structure as a particular case of our construction. The formal geometry interpretation leads to a definition of an $L_\infty$ (quasi)bialgebra structure on $V$ as a differential operator $Q$ on $V,$ …
We investigate some properties of Rota-Baxter operators on BiHom-Lie algebras. Along the way, we introduce BiHom analogues of pre-Lie and Leibniz algebras.
In a paper by Michaelis a class of infinite-dimensional Lie bialgebras containing the Virasoro algebra was presented. This type of Lie bialgebras was classified by Ng and Taft. In this paper, all Lie bialgebra structures on the Lie algebras of generalized Witt type are classified. It is proved that, for any Lie algebra $W$ of generalized Witt type, all Lie bialgebras on $W$ are coboundary triangular Lie bialgebras. As a by-product, it is also proved that the first cohomology group $H^1(W,W \otimes W)$ is trivial.
In the present paper we present a classification of Lie bialgebra structures on Lie algebras of type g[[u]] and g[u], where g is a simple finite dimensional Lie algebra.
Braided-Lie bialgebras have been introduced by Majid, as the Lie versions of Hopf algebras in braided categories. In this paper we extend previous work of Majid and of ours to show that there is a braided-Lie bialgebra associated to each inclusion of Kac-Moody bialgebras. Doing so, we obtain many new examples of infinite-dimensional braided-Lie bialgebras. We analyze further the case of untwisted affine Kac-Moody bialgebras associated to finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras. The inclusion we study is that of the finite-type algebra in the affine algebra. This braided-Lie bialgebra is isomorp…
We prove that free pre-Lie algebras, when considered as Lie algebras, are free. Working in the category of S-modules, we define a natural filtration on the space of generators. We also relate the symmetric group action on generators with the structure of the anticyclic PreLie operad.
A pre-Lie-Rinehart algebra is an algebraic generalization of the notion of a left-symmetric algebroid. We construct pre-Lie-Rinehart algebras from r-matrices through Lie algebra actions. We study cohomologies of pre-Lie-Rinehart algebras and show that abelian extensions of pre-Lie-Rinehart algebras are classified by the second cohomology groups. We introduce the notion of crossed modules for pre-Lie-Rinehart algebras and show that they are classified by the third cohomology groups of pre-Lie-Rinehart algebras. At last, we use (pre-)Lie-Rinehart 2-algebras to characterize the crossed modules fo…
The Grothendieck-Teichmüller Lie algebra is a Lie subalgebra of a Lie algebra of derivations of the free Lie algebra in two generators. We show that the lower central series of the latter Lie algebra induces a decreasing filtration of the Grothendieck-Teichmüller Lie algebra and we study the corresponding graded Lie algebra. Its degree zero part had been previously computed by the second author. We show that the degree one part is a module over a symmetric algebra, which are both equipped with compatible decreasing filtrations, and we exhibit an explicit lower bound for the associated graded m…
Divergence-free Lie algebras (also known as the special Lie algebras of Cartan type) are Lie algebras of volume-preserving transformation groups. They are simple in generic case. Dokovic and Zhao found a certain graded generalization of them. In this paper, we classify all the irreducible and indecomposable multiplicity-free modules of the simple generalized divergence-free Lie algebras.
We show that the quantisation of a connected simply-connected Poisson-Lie group admits a left-covariant noncommutative differential structure at lowest deformation order if and only if the dual of its Lie algebra admits a pre-Lie algebra structure. As an example, we find a pre-Lie algebra structure underlying the standard 3D differential structure on $\C_q[SU_2]$. At the noncommutative geometry level we show that the enveloping algebra $U(\cm)$ of a Lie algebra $\cm$, viewed as quantisation of $\cm^*$, admits a connected differential exterior algebra of classical dimension if and only if $\cm$…
Lie-Rinehart algebras, also known as Lie algebroids, give rise to Hopf algebroids by a universal enveloping algebra construction, much as the universal enveloping algebra of an ordinary Lie algebra gives a Hopf algebra, of infinite dimension. In finite characteristic, the universal enveloping algebra of a restricted Lie algebra admits a quotient Hopf algebra which is finite-dimensional if the Lie algebra is. Rumynin has shown that suitably defined restricted Lie algebroids allow to define restricted universal enveloping algebras that are finitely generated projective if the Lie algebroid is. T…
The construction of Lie bialgebra from double Lie algebra is presented. It is used to relate some types of cobracket on inhomogenous so(p,q) algebras with double Lie algebra structures on so(p+1,q) or so(p,q+1). Also it is shown that the cobracket corresponding to kappa-deformation gives rise to complete Poisson-Lie Euclidean groups and non-complete Poincare groups.
A Lie algebra $L$ over a field $\mathbb{F}$ is said to be zero product determined (zpd) if every bilinear map $f:L\times L\to \mathbb{F}$ with the property that $f(x,y)=0$ whenever $x$ and $y$ commute is a coboundary. The main goal of the paper is to determine whether or not some important Lie algebras are zpd. We show that the Galilei Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}_2\ltimes V$, where $V$ is a simple $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-module, is zpd if and only if $\dim V =2$ or $\dim V$ is odd. The class of zpd Lie algebras also includes the quantum torus Lie algebras $\mathcal{L}_q$ and $\mathcal{L}^+_q$, the un…
We present the method for finding of the nonlinear Poisson-Lie groups structures on the vector spaces and for their quantization. For arbitrary central extension of Lie algebra explicit formulas of quantization are proposed.
In the present paper we shall investigate the Lie bialgebra structures on the Lie algebra $\widetilde{\frak{sl}_2(C_q[x,y])}$, which are shown to be triangular coboundary.
We study (quasi-)twilled pre-Lie algebras and the associated $L_\infty$-algebras and differential graded Lie algebras. Then we show that certain twisting transformations on (quasi-)twilled pre-Lie algbras can be characterized by the solutions of Maurer-Cartan equations of the associated differential graded Lie algebras ($L_\infty$-algebras). Furthermore, we show that $\mathcal{O}$-operators and twisted $\mathcal{O}$-operators are solutions of the Maurer-Cartan equations. As applications, we study (quasi-)pre-Lie bialgebras using the associated differential graded Lie algebras ($L_\infty$-algeb…
This paper studies two types of 3-Lie bialgebras whose compatibility conditions between the multiplication and comultiplication are given by local cocycles and double constructions respectively, and are therefore called the local cocycle 3-Lie bialgebra and the double construction 3-Lie bialgebra. They can be regarded as suitable extensions of the well-known Lie bialgebra in the context of 3-Lie algebras, in two different directions. The local cocycle 3-Lie bialgebra is introduced to extend the connection between Lie bialgebras and the classical Yang-Baxter equation. Its relationship with a te…
We establish a bialgebra structure on Rota-Baxter Lie algebras following the Manin triple approach to Lie bialgebras. Explicitly, Rota-Baxter Lie bialgebras are characterized by generalizing matched pairs of Lie algebras and Manin triples of Lie algebras to the context of Rota-Baxter Lie algebras. The coboundary case leads to the introduction of the admissible classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE) in Rota-Baxter Lie algebras, for which the antisymmetric solutions give rise to Rota-Baxter Lie bialgebras. The notions of $\mathcal{O}$-operators on Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and Rota-Baxter pre-Lie …
The broadly applied notions of Lie bialgebras, Manin triples, classical $r$-matrices and $\mathcal{O}$-operators of Lie algebras owe their importance to the close relationship among them. Yet these notions and their correspondences are mostly understood as classes of objects and maps among the classes. To gain categorical insight, this paper introduces, for each of the classes, a notion of homomorphisms, uniformly called coherent homomorphisms, so that the classes of objects become categories and the maps among the classes become functors or category equivalences. For this purpose, we start wi…
The notions of vertex Lie algebra and vertex Poisson algebra are presented and connections among vertex Lie algebras, vertex Poisson algebras and vertex algebras are discussed.
The main purpose of this work is to develop the basic notions of the Lie theory for commutative algebras. We introduce a class of $\mathbbZ_2$-graded commutative but not associative algebras that we call ``Lie antialgebras''. These algebras are closely related to Lie (super)algebras and, in some sense, link together commutative and Lie algebras. The main notions we define in this paper are: representations of Lie antialgebras, an analog of the Lie-Poisson bivector (which is not Poisson) and central extensions. We also classify simple finite-dimensional Lie antialgebras.
We determine the \emph{$L_\infty$-algebra} that controls deformations of a relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebra and show that it is an extension of the dg Lie algebra controlling deformations of the underlying LieRep pair by the dg Lie algebra controlling deformations of the relative Rota-Baxter operator. Consequently, we define the {\em cohomology} of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and relate it to their infinitesimal deformations. A large class of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras is obtained from triangular Lie bialgebras and we construct a map between the corresponding deformation complexes…
This paper first introduces the notion of a Rota-Baxter operator (of weight $1$) on a Lie group so that its differentiation gives a Rota-Baxter operator on the corresponding Lie algebra. Direct products of Lie groups, including the decompositions of Iwasawa and Langlands, carry natural Rota-Baxter operators. Formal inverse of the Rota-Baxter operator on a Lie group is precisely the crossed homomorphism on the Lie group, whose tangent map is the differential operator of weight $1$ on a Lie algebra. A factorization theorem of Rota-Baxter Lie groups is proved, deriving directly on the Lie group l…
