We study the compact Hermitian spin surfaces with positive conformal scalar curvature on which the first eigenvalue of the Dolbeault operator of the spin structure is the smallest possible. We prove that such a surface is either a ruled surface or a Hopf surface. We give a complete classification of the ruled surfaces with this property. For the Hopf surfaces we obtain a partial classification and some examples.
We consider the Dolbeault operator of $K^{1/2}$ -- the square root of the canonical line bundle which determines the spin structure of a compact Hermitian spin surface (M,g,J). We prove that the Dolbeault cohomology groups of $K^{1/2}$ vanish if the scalar curvature of g is non-negative and non-identically zero. Moreover, we estimate the first eigenvalue of the Dolbeault operator when the conformal scalar curvature k is non-negative and when k is positive. In the first case we give a complete list of limiting manifolds and in the second one we give non-Kähler examples of limiting manifolds.
We prove that the dimension $h^{1,1}_{\overline\partial}$ of the space of Dolbeault harmonic $(1,1)$-forms is not necessarily always equal to $b^-$ on a compact almost complex 4-manifold endowed with an almost Hermitian metric which is not locally conformally almost Kähler. Indeed, we provide examples of non integrable, non locally conformally almost Kähler, almost Hermitian structures on compact 4-manifolds with $h^{1,1}_{\overline\partial}=b^-+1$. This answers to a question by Holt.
We prove the vanishing of the Dolbeault cohomology groups on Hermitian manifolds with $dd^c$-harmonic Kähler form and positive (1,1)-part of the Ricci form of the Bismut connection. This implies the vanishing of the Dolbeault cohomology groups on complex surfaces which admit a conformal class of Hermitian metrics, such that the Ricci tensor of the canonical Weyl structure is positive. As a corollary we obtain that any such surface must be rational with $c_1^2 >0$. As an application, the pth Dolbeault cohomology groups of a left-invariant complex structure compatible with a bi-invariant metric …
We calculate the second coefficient of the asymptotic expansion of the Bergman kernel of the Hodge-Dolbeault operator associated to high powers of a Hermitian line bundle with non-degenerate curvature, using the method of formal power series developed by Ma and Marinescu.
We use Dirac operator techniques to a establish sharp lower bound for the first eigenvalue of the Dolbeault Laplacian twisted by Hermitian-Einstein connections on vector bundles of negative degree over compact Kähler manifolds.
We study Dolbeault harmonic $(1,1)$-forms on compact quotients $M=Γ\backslash G$ of $4$-dimensional Lie groups $G$ admitting a left invariant almost Hermitian structure $(J,ω)$. In this case, we prove that the space of Dolbeault harmonic $(1,1)$-forms on $(M,J,ω)$ has dimension $b^-+1$ if and only if there exists a left invariant anti self dual $(1,1)$-form $γ$ on $(G,J)$ satisfying $id^cγ=dω$. Otherwise, its dimension is $b^-$. In this way, we answer to a question by Zhang.
We use Dirac operator techniques to establish a sharp lower bound for the first eigenvalue of the twisted Dolbeault Laplacian on holomorphic line bundles over compact Kähler manifolds.

We consider several differential operators on compact almost-complex, almost-Hermitian and almost-Kähler manifolds. We discuss Hodge Theory for these operators and a possible cohomological interpretation. We compare the associated spaces of harmonic forms and cohomologies with the classical de Rham, Dolbeault, Bott-Chern and Aeppli cohomologies.
Let $G$ be a complex Lie group acting on a compact complex Hermitian manifold $M$ by holomorphic isometries. We prove that the induced action on the Dolbeault cohomology and on the Bott-Chern cohomology is trivial. We also apply this result to compute the Dolbeault cohomology of Vaisman manifolds.
Given a compact Hermitian complex space with isolated singular points, we construct a Dolbeault-type Hilbert complex whose cohomology is isomorphic to the cohomology of the structure sheaf. We show that the corresponding K-homology class coincides with the one constructed by Baum-Fulton-MacPherson.
Let $(M,J,g,ω)$ be a $2n$-dimensional almost Hermitian manifold. We extend the definition of the Bott-Chern Laplacian on $(M,J,g,ω)$, proving that it is still elliptic. On a compact Kähler manifold, the kernels of the Dolbeault Laplacian and of the Bott-Chern Laplacian coincide. We show that such a property does not hold when $(M,J,g,ω)$ is a compact almost Kähler manifold, providing an explicit almost Kähler structure on the Kodaira-Thurston manifold. Furthermore, if $(M,J,g,ω)$ is a connected compact almost Hermitian $4$-manifold, denoting by $h^{1,1}_{BC}$ the dimension of the space of Bott…
We introduce the notions of Chern-Dirac bundles and Chern-Dirac operators on Hermitian manifolds. They are analogues of classical Dirac bundles and Dirac operators, with Levi-Civita connection replaced by Chern connection. We then show that the tensor product of canonical and the anticanonical spinor bundles, called V-spinor bundle, is a bigraded Chern-Dirac bundle with spaces of harmonic spinors isomorphic to the full Dolbeault cohomology class. A similar construction establishes isomorphisms between other types of harmonic spinors and Bott-Chern, Aeppli and twisted cohomology.
For a Kähler Manifold $M$, the "symplectic Dolbeault operators" are defined using the symplectic spinors and associated Dirac operators, in complete analogy to how the usual Dolbeault operators, $\bar\partial$ and $\bar\partial^*$, arise from Dirac operators on the canonical complex spinors on $M$. We give special attention to two special classes of Kähler manifolds: Riemann surfaces and flag manifolds ($G/T$ for $G$ a simply-connected compact semisimple Lie group and $T$ a maximal torus). In the case of flag manifolds, we work with the Hermitian structure induced by the Killing form and a cho…
In this paper, by using the Bochner technique on almost Hermitian manifolds, we obtain a complex Hessian comparison for almost Hermitian manifolds generalizing the Laplacian comparison for almost Hermitian manifolds by Tossati, and reprove a diameter estimate for almost Hermitian manifolds by Gray. Moreover, we obtain a sharp eigenvalue estimate on quasi Kaehler manifolds and a sharp Hessian comparison on nearly Kaehler manifolds.
The notion of a Kähler structure for a differential calculus was recently introduced by the second author as a framework in which to study the noncommutative geometry of the quantum flag manifolds. It was subsequently shown that any covariant positive definite Kähler structure has a canonically associated triple satisfying, up to the compact resolvent condition, Connes' axioms for a spectral triple. In this paper we begin the development of a robust framework in which to investigate the compact resolvent condition, and moreover, the general spectral behaviour of covariant Kähler structures. Th…
We show that tensoring the Laplace and Dolbeault-Dirac operators of a Kähler structure (with closed integral) by a negative Hermitian holomorphic module, produces operators with spectral gaps around zero. The proof is based on the recently established Akizuki-Nakano identity of a noncommutative Kähler structure. This general framework is then applied to the Heckenberger-Kolb calculi of the irreducible quantum flag manifolds, and it is shown that twisting their Dirac and Laplace operators by negative line bundles produces a spectral gap, for q sufficiently close to 1. The main technical challen…
Let $(X,h)$ be a compact and irreducible Hermitian complex space of complex dimension $v>1$. In this paper we show that the Friedrichs extension of both the Laplace-Beltrami operator and the Hodge-Kodaira Laplacian acting on functions has discrete spectrum. Moreover we provide some estimates for the growth of the corresponding eigenvalues and we use these estimates to deduce that the associated heat operators are trace-class. Finally we give various applications to the Hodge-Dolbeault operator and to the Hodge-Kodaira Laplacian in the setting of Hermitian complex spaces of complex dimension $2…
Assume that the compact Riemannian spin manifold $(M^n,g)$ admits a $G$-structure with characteristic connection $\nabla$ and parallel characteristic torsion ($\nabla T=0$), and consider the Dirac operator $D^{1/3}$ corresponding to the torsion $T/3$. This operator plays an eminent role in the investigation of such manifolds and includes as special cases Kostant's ``cubic Dirac operator'' and the Dolbeault operator. In this article, we describe a general method of computation for lower bounds of the eigenvalues of $D^{1/3}$ by a clever deformation of the spinorial connection. In order to get e…
