Let k be a field of characteristic p>0. A theorem of de Jong shows that morphisms of modules over W(k)[[t]] with Frobenius and connection structure descend from the completion of W(k)((t)). A careful reading of de Jong's proof suggests the possibility that an analogous theorem holds for modules with only a Frobenius structure. We show that this analogue holds in one weak formulation and fails in a second stronger formulation.

A note on Frobenius divided modules in mixed characteristics

If $X$ is a smooth scheme over a perfect field of characteristic $p$, and if $\sD_X$ is the sheaf of differential operators on $X$ [EGAIV], it is well known that giving an action of $\sD_X$ on an $\sO_X$-module $\sE$ is equivalent to giving an infinite sequence of $\sO_X$-modules descending $\sE$ via the iterates of the Frobenius endomorphism of $X$. Tannakian properties of unit Frobenius-modules

We show that unit $\mathcal{O}_{F,X}^Λ$-modules of Emerton and Kisin provide an analogue of locally constant sheaves in the context of Böckle-Pink $Λ$-crystals. For example they form a tannakian category if the coefficient algebra $Λ$ is a field. Our results hold for a big class of coefficien algebras which includes Drinfeld rings, and for arbitary locally noetherian base schemes.

Drinfeld modules, Frobenius endomorphisms, and CM-liftings

We give a global description of the Frobenius elements in the division fields of Drinfeld modules of rank $2$. We apply this description to derive a criterion for the splitting modulo primes of a class of non-solvable polynomials, and to study the frequency with which the reductions of Drinfeld modules have small endomorphism rings. We also generalize some of these results to higher rank Drinfeld modules and prove CM-lifting theorems for Drinfeld modules.

Distribution of the trace of Frobenius on average for rank 2 Drinfeld modules

Let $q$ be an odd prime power, $a \in \mathbb{F}_q[T]$ and $u \in \mathbb{F}_q^*$. Provided $q \geq 17$, we compute the average number of primes $p$ for which the characteristic polynomial of the Frobenius at $p$ is $X^2 - aX + up$ over a family of rank 2 Drinfeld $ \mathbb{F}_q[T]$-modules. Our results give asymptotic formulas in the $x$-limit.

Frobenius modules over multivariate Robba rings

We describe a class of multivariate series rings generalizing the usual Robba ring over a p-adic field, and give a basic development of phi-modules over such rings. This makes it possible to give a unified survey of a number of recent developments in p-adic Hodge theory.

Computing endomorphism rings and Frobenius matrices of Drinfeld modules

Let $\mathbb{F}_q[T]$ be the polynomial ring over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$. We study the endomorphism rings of Drinfeld $\mathbb{F}_q[T]$-modules of arbitrary rank over finite fields. We compare the endomorphism rings to their subrings generated by the Frobenius endomorphism and deduce from this a refinement of a reciprocity law for division fields of Drinfeld modules proved in our earlier paper. We then use these results to give an efficient algorithm for computing the endomorphism rings and discuss some interesting examples produced by our algorithm.

Densities of eigenspaces of Frobenius and distributions of R-modules

For any polynomial $p\left(x\right)$ over $\mathbb{F}_{l}$ we determine the asymptotic density of hyperelliptic curves over $\mathbb{F}_{q}$ of genus $g$ for which $p\left(x\right)$ divides the characteristic polynomial of Frobenius acting on the $l$-torsion of the Jacobian, and give an explicit formula for this density. We prove this result as a consequence of more general density theorems for quotients of Tate modules of such curves, viewed as modules over the Frobenius. Variation of Weyl modules in $p$-adic families

Given a Weil-Deligne representation with coefficients in a domain, we prove the rigidity of the structures of the Frobenius-semisimplifications of the Weyl modules associated to its pure specializations. Moreover, we show that the structures of the Frobenius-semisimplifications of the Weyl modules attached to a collection of pure representations are rigid if these pure representations lift to Weil-Deligne representations over domains containing a domain $\mathscr{O}$ and a pseudorepresentation over $\mathscr{O}$ parametrizes the traces of these lifts.

Slope filtrations for relative Frobenius

The slope filtration theorem gives a partial analogue of the eigenspace decomposition of a linear transformation, for a Frobenius-semilinear endomorphism of a finite free module over the Robba ring (the ring of germs of rigid analytic functions on an unspecified open annulus of outer radius 1) over a discretely valued field.
