Lisa Jeffrey and Frances Kirwan developed an integration theory for symplectic reductions. That is, given a symplectic manifold with symplectic group action, they developed a way of pulling the integration of forms on the reduction back to an integration of group-equivariant forms on the original space.
We seek an analogue of the symplectic integration formula as developed by for the hyperKahler case. This is almost straightforward, but we have to overcome such obstacles as the lack of a hyper-Darboux theorem and the lack of compactness in the case of hyperKahler reduction.
For the sake of hyperk{ä}hler SYZ conjecture, finding holomorphic Lagrangian fibrations becomes an important issue. Toric hyperk{ä}hler manifolds are real dimension $4n$ non-compact hyperk{ä}hler manifolds which are quaternion analog of toric varieties. The $n$ dimensional residue circle action on it admitting a hyperk{ä}hler moment map. We use the complex part of this moment map to construct a holomorphic Lagrangian fibration with generic fiber diffeomorphic to $(\mathbb{C}^*)^n$, and study the singular fibers.
Toric hyperk{ä}hler manifolds are quaternion analog of toric varieties. Bielawski pointed out that they can be glued by cotangent bundles of toric varieties. Following his idea, viewing both toric varieties and toric hyperk{ä}her manifolds as GIT quotients, we first establish geometrical criteria for the semi-stable points. Then based on these criteria, we show that the cotangent bundles of compact toric varieties in the core of toric hyperk{ä}hler manifold are sufficient to glue the desired toric hyperk{ä}hler manifold.
We investigate invariants of compact hyperk{ä}hler manifolds introduced by Rozansky and Witten: they associate an invariant to each graph homology class. It is obtained by using the graph to perform contractions on a power of the curvature tensor and then integrating the resulting scalar-valued function over the manifold, arriving at a number. For certain graph homology classes, the invariants we get are Chern numbers, and in fact all characteristic numbers arise in this way. We use relations in graph homology to study and compare these hyperk{ä}hler manifold invariants. For example, we show t…
In this thesis we study the topology and geometry of hyperkähler quotients, as well as some related non-compact Kähler quotients, from the point of view of Hamiltonian group actions. The main technical tool we employ is Morse theory with moment maps. We prove a Lojasiewicz inequality which permits the use of Morse theory in the non-compact setting. We use this to deduce Kirwan surjectivity for an interesting class of non-compact quotients, and obtain a new proof of hyperkähler Kirwan surjectivity for hypertoric varieties. We then turn our attention to quiver varieties, obtaining an explicit in…
We express characteristic numbers of compact hyperkähler manifolds in graph-theoretical form, considering them as a special case of the curvature invariants introduced by Rozansky and Witten. The appropriate graphs are generated by ``wheels'' and we use the recently proved Wheeling Theorem to give a formula for the L2 norm of the curvature of an irreducible hyperkähler manifold in terms of the volume and Pontryagin numbers. The formula involves the multiplicative sequence which is the square root of the A-hat polynomial.
In 2009 Gaiotto, Moore and Neitzke presented a new construction of hyperkähler metrics on the total spaces of certain complex integrable systems, represented as a torus fibration $\mathcal{M}$ over a base space $\mathcal{B}$, except for a divisor $D$ in $\mathcal{B}$, in which the torus fiber degenerates into a nodal torus. The hyperkähler metric $g$ is obtained via solutions $\mathcal{X}_γ$ of a Riemann-Hilbert problem. We interpret the Kontsevich-Soibelman Wall Crossing Formula as an isomonodromic deformation of a family of RH problems, therefore guaranteeing continuity of $\mathcal{X}_γ$ at…
In this article, we study a generalisation of the Seiberg-Witten equations, replacing the spinor representation with a hyperKahler manifold equipped with certain symmetries. Central to this is the construction of a (non-linear) Dirac operator acting on the sections of the non-linear fibre-bundle. For hyperKahler manifolds admitting a hyperKahler potential, we derive a transformation formula for the Dirac operator under the conformal change of metric on the base manifold. As an application, we show that when the hyperKahler manifold is of dimension four, then away from a singular set, the equat…
In this paper we propose and investigate in full generality new notions of (continuous, non-isometric) symmetry on hyperkähler spaces. These can be grouped into two categories, corresponding to the two basic types of continuous hyperkähler isometries which they deform: tri-Hamiltonian isometries, on one hand, and rotational isometries, on the other. The first category of deformations gives rise to Killing spinors and generate what are known as hidden hyperkähler symmetries. The second category gives rise to hyperholomorphic line bundles over the hyperkähler manifolds on which they are defined …
We define $(p,q)$ hermitian geometry as the target space geometry of the two dimensional $(p,q)$ supersymmetric sigma model. This includes generalised Kähler geometry for $(2,2)$, generalised hyperkähler geometry for $(4,2)$, strong Kähler with torsion geometry for $(2,1)$ and strong hyperkähler with torsion geometry for $(4,1)$. We provide a generalised complex geometry formulation of hermitian geometry, generalising Gualtieri's formulation of the $(2,2)$ case. Our formulation involves a chiral version of generalised complex structure and we provide explicit formulae for the map to generalise…
Let X be a compact hyperkähler manifold containing a complex torus L as a Lagrangian subvariety. Beauville posed the question whether X admits a Lagrangian fibration with fibre L. We show that this is indeed the case if X is not projective. If X is projective we find an almost holomorphic Lagrangian fibration with fibre L under additional assumptions on the pair (X, L), which can be formulated in topological or deformation-theoretic terms. Moreover, we show that for any such almost holomorphic Lagrangian fibration there exists a smooth good minimal model, i.e., a hyperkähler manifold birationa…
An explicit surjection from a set of (locally defined) unconstrained holomorphic functions on a certain submanifold of (Sp_1(C) \times C^{4n}) onto the set HK_{p,q} of local isometry classes of real analytic pseudo-hyperkähler metrics of signature (4p,4q) in dimension 4n is constructed. The holomorphic functions, called prepotentials, are analogues of Kähler potentials for Kähler metrics and provide a complete parameterisation of HK_{p,q}. In particular, there exists a bijection between HK_{p,q} and the set of equivalence classes of prepotentials. This affords the explicit construction of pseu…
Let $(M, J^α, α=1,2,3)$ and $(N, {\cal J}^α, α=1,2,3)$ be Hyperkähler manifolds. Suppose that $u_k$ is a sequence of stationary quaternionic maps and converges weakly to $u$ in $H^{1,2}(M,N)$, we derive a blow-up formula for $\lim_{k\to\infty}d(u_k^*{\cal J}^α)$, for $α=1,2,3$, in the weak sense. As a corollary, we show that the maps constructed by Chen-Li [CL2] and by Foscolo [F] can not be tangent maps (c.f [LT], Theorem 3.1) of a stationary quaternionic map satisfing $d(u^*{\cal J}^α)=0$.

In 1995, Dan Guan constructed examples of non-Kahler, simply-connected holomorphically symplectic manifolds. An alternative construction, using the Hilbert scheme of Kodaira-Thurston surface, was given by F. Bogomolov. We investigate topology and deformation theory of Bogomolov-Guan manifolds and show that it is similar to that of hyperkahler manifolds. We prove the local Torelli theorem, showing that holomorphically symplectic deformations of BG-manifolds are unobstructed, and the corresponding period map is locally a diffeomorphism. Using the local Torelli theorem, we prove the Fujiki formul…
We show how to construct an N=1 superconformal vertex algebra (SCVA) from any Riemannian manifold. When the Riemannian manifold has special holonomy groups, we discuss the extended supersymmetry. When the manifold is complex or Kähler, we also generalize the construction to obtain N=2 SCVA's. We study the BRST cohomology groups of the topological vertex algebras obtained by the $A$ twist and the $B$ twist from these N=2 SCVA's. We show that for one of them, the BRST cohomologies are isomorphic to $H^*(M, Λ^*(T^*M))$ and $H^*(M, Λ^*(TM))$ respectively. This provides a mathematical formulation o…
