The approach of Quillen to the cohomology of general algebraic systems is based on simplicial methods, which are usually quite hard to deal with. The aim of this work is to give the foundation of Shukla cohomology (of algebras over a commutative ring) based on chain algebras. We also give an application to the problem of strengthening additive track theories, which is based on the comparison homomorphism between Shukla and Mac Lane cohomology theories.

Mod-two cohomology of symmetric groups as a Hopf ring

We compute the mod-2 cohomology of the collection of all symmetric groups as a Hopf ring, where the second product is the transfer product of Strickland and Turner. We first give examples of related Hopf rings from invariant theory and representation theory. The Batalin-Vilkovisky structure on the Tate-Hochschild cohomology ring of a group algebra

We determine the Batalin-Vilkovisky structure on the Tate-Hochschild cohomology of the group algebra $kG$ of a finite group $G$ in terms of the additive decomposition. In particular, we show that the Tate cohomology of $G$ is a Batalin-Vilkovisky subalgebra of the Tate-Hochschild cohomology of the group algebra $kG$, and that the Tate cochain complex of $G$ is a cyclic $A_{\infty}$-subalgebra of the Tate-Hochschild cochain complex of $kG$.

Hochschild cohomology of quantized symplectic orbifolds and the Chen-Ruan cohomology

We prove the additive version of the conjecture proposed by Ginzburg and Kaledin. This conjecture states that if X/G is an orbifold modeled on a quotient of a smooth affine symplectic variety X (over C) by a finite group G\subset Aut(X) and A is a G-stable quantum algebra of functions on X then the graded vector space HH(A^G) of the Hochschild cohomology of the algebra A^G of invariants is isomorphic to the graded vector space H_{CR}(X/G)((h)) of the Chen-Ruan (stringy) cohomology of the orbifold X/G.

On the cohomology of $GL_3$ of elliptic curves and Quillen's conjecture

The paper provides a computation of the additive structure as well as a partial description of the Chern-class module structure of the cohomology of $GL_3$ over the function ring of an elliptic curve over a finite field.
